That said, at least give the mask to Sanji or something, bruh. 28 Piece: Don Krieg fight is a goodun! Another really good showcase for Luffy and how he operates. Earthsea: Ged defeated his Shadow and obtained a Persona or whatever, good on him. I wonder if there's ever romance, I could see this build into Vetch OR Yaro for Ged except for the age gap I assume that would create. The world may never know. Won't make it to library for a few days so who knows what'll be next! SeabassDebeste posted... and its exploration of gender identity might be more up your alley duly noted, thanks! Well I never!(this is a solid backstory tho) Guilty Gear: First run through Bridget's story, did worse than previous attempts on the early stages but then rocked it out the rest of the way. Kinda neat that sometimes losing just puts you on a different route! He stayed there seven days, healing the blind and curing the sick. Then the disciples said "let us go down to the city." And so they went forth to the next city over. Along the way they met a merchant, for in those days there were many merchants on that road. But when they got to The Next City, which was called Cityville, there were no rooms for them, as the Pharisees had warned all the innkeepers not to give them aid or give them succour. Thus they returned to Suchandsuch, and were sorely vexed." and there are some stories that get some actual detail but a lot of 'em don't, even moreso in Earthsea I think. We'll see how that plays out once he's stuck on a boat with Nami all day. This is a fun setup! I kinda like the Baratie guys, ngl. 23 Piece: Man imagine if we got Zeff (and his hat) outta this instead of Sanji. That was a lot of build for Don Krieg just to presumably feed him to this other guy! Guilty Gear Strive: done got peer pressured by both the trans community and the FWA community. (not to mention all my IRL friends that are into arcsys in general) Had some trouble getting it to read my controller and run semi-decently, but think I've got that sorted. I'm really impressed by the tutorials! Will it be the "real" fighting game I actually manage to learn and get into halfway decently? Odds are better than they've been for all the games with unhelpful tutorials and no trans rep! Heck I would've taken cw I think what is bugging me about Earthsea so far (and some other things) is that it's a bit too "zoomed out" in terms of both scale and time. I LIKE that but I also need some emotional touchpoint, and you can't easily get that if every new character and concept is done two pages after introduction. But when I DO have that investment, I love seeing big ol' worlds and sweeping epic adventures. You can even kinda see that in most things I write- my TEW diaries are really light on details because what interests me is the overarching story, and I get the emotional connection from using established characters. --- New name, new gender, same great Bolo flavor! I really hope she comes ba- oh the hell A Wizard of Earthsea: It's...not grabbing me yet, actually, and I'm a ways in. I feel like I haven't been given a reason or opportunity to really start caring about this character or this world we've spent half the book setting up. Feels a bit like the first book of Discworld (we just go a bunch of places and meet a bunch of people and do a bunch of stuff without really giving any of it space) without the humor. I liked Lathe of Heaven and everybody likes LeGuin though, so I'll stick it out. 20 Piece: Arlong is foreshadowed, which Wifebolo is excited for for seiyu reasons. The Zoro sidekicks are entertaining, Nami's outfit is on point, and hey there's Sanji. 21 Piece: Sanji's off to a good start with me actually, I only remembered him as horny kicky guy.....oh there he goes right at the end there. And....Usopp, whose backstory might've worked better before he'd been thoroughly established as an annoying weirdo. The Original: Beated! Interesting ending that I reckon I will avoid spoiling. I enjoyed this a lot, actually! Some philosophical questions to mull, a refreshingly conversational tone, and fun mystery stuff that I whiffed on figuring out. Would recommend. It's (partially) Sanderson, that's recommendation enough! I've never thought of myself as a sci-fi person but the last several sci-fi things I've tried have landed, so maybe I should re-evaluate. 18 Piece: These hybrid animals make me wanna rewatch ATLA. Not much else going for this episode, lol. Good bit of Nami though, I continue to be surprised by how fast she grew on me. We seem to be going for society/government as the true evil, even with our point of contact seeming like a good dude and the terrorists/original seeming ambiguous. West of Loathing: Man the El Vibrato thing is going on for a while huh 15 Piece: Backstory ep but a decent one 16 Piece: Heck yea main event time finally. I'm still dying on the hill that Kuro is a good villain, a good foil for Luffy, and an interesting matchup. It's okay though, it's really just an excuse for Usopp and Nami to show up before the heavies, so they can get a moment to shine by....jobbing to the mooks. Aight. Butler guy got killed :( The Original- Brandon Sanderson and a sci-fi author lady: I haven't often gone for sci-fi, but worth a shot maybe if it has Mr. Branderson! Looks like it has some mystery elements as well, and I like mysteries, I just don't know if they make good listen-to-but-focus-on-driving material >_> Bit dark already, but within tolerance levels, and I love me a good unreliable narrator. Current theory: there never was a husband. Also, I like the reader, and this version has little sporadic ambient music and noise, which is nice. 13 Piece: Ey, things developed finally!
