Prologue down, feel like I ran a marathon.

Sigurd ended up level 8, and the gap was too extreme, so I used the boss to farm everyone to level 5 (I think someone hit 6). I had some, I assume, bad levelups with only 1 point in them that I needed to make up for.

Sigurd is...a fucking God, holy shit. Everything bows the knee to him, it's unreal.

The Christmas Cavs stand out from eachither a lot, in so many other games the red cav only does a little bit more than the green one but never doubles in the first few chapters, and the same goes here except the damage difference between them per strike is much more significant, so they both have their place. Canto in this game is busted as fuck, stack, move, change weapon? Christ.

I hope I'm not fucking up grinding with the heal staff, I saw it was pretty expensive to repair compared to the weapons.

I actually did end up making it to all the villages once I realised most of the enemies were being static, even though I only got 500g out of the last one. Once you're actually in the flow/in control of the situation, it's all much less daunting than the map size would have you think.

Still need to learn all the skills. I've got the math down pretty tight at least, I know what determines when I double and calculating damage is an extra step having to do math but it's easy to get sued to.

Traversal is definitely the most noteable flaw so far. I can't imagine I give the General unit too much attention.

I wasn't thinking about who god the Speed Ring what with how trading works in this game, it ended up going to Finn. Obviously he doesn't do to great on this map due to triangle, but he looks solid and also have the doubling skill.

Pretty fascinated, it all feels so different. Diffing the little bit of narrative I've been handed so far, too.

Oh, and the foot unit situation is kind of dire lol. Cavalry moves so far, it's like everyone who doesn't have a horse is a general.

OK, so I've heard some about the arena thing, but was a little confused. Are there 7 rounds a chapter TOTAL, or per CHARACTER?

When I realized about 2 turns ago that some villages were a lost cause it did relieve me some. I don't know if that's going to be the case moving forward, but at least for now...I hope I didn't miss any items.

What's the deployments size and such in this game? Should I be splitting up exp? I've been letting lower level allies finish enemies off, something Sigurd can't so since he melts everything in one round lol.

Just in the prologue, I feel like everyone is at constant threat! No idea how I should be distributing EXP.

I've saved 3 villages, the one at the top I saved with those 2 units that spawned on the second turn, and they almost ate it. Axe dude just can't dodge. Clearly you aren't meant to save every village. Got the speed ring which seems important!

I have the castle at the bottom surrounded, just waiting for the mage to make it down there first before starting the attack on those 4 stationary dudes. Had to save and step away for a second.

Though now I'm in this wierd situation where the one thing I retained from skimming weeks ago was DON'T MISS THE SILVER SWORD and I don't even see that on the list, lol.

I'm basing that on having it show up the most often at both the top of FE ranking lists and the bottom of FE ranking lists over the years many times, but may just be confirmation bias.

If there is a spoiler free guide that doesn't read like I'm reading actual military battle plans that are book length per chapter, I am all for it.

In a few short hours, I will be starting up what appears to be the most polarizing game in the series, Geneology of the Holy War.

Frankly, I'm terrified.

I briefly attempted to see what I was getting into a while back, and very quickly realized there was point since I would never be able to retain it all.

I'm going to just go with the flow for now, see what happens.

The voice casting in Chainsaw Man is perfect across the board.

Power's is about as good as I've ever heard anywhere.

Finished it. Yeah, Ephraim route is definitely better than the Eirika route, especially the Lyon stuff. There's just more story here, too. I liked SOME of the character stuff in Erika's route more, I think best girl L'Arachel stands out there a lot, but over Ephraim was superior.

However, definitely better to play both, and definitely better to play Erika's first.

I don't think the story was, like, amazing, it's pretty simple. But it's TOLD way better. You really can't compare presentation between this and Binding Blade at all. The absolute strongest part is the characters which they let shine so much more, and have so much more ongoing dialogue through the game. The part at the end where we get every characters closing thoughts and not just in the Epilogue windows does a ton. Easily my favorite cast of these older games.

The game was pretty easy, and I didn't grind anything this time at all other than Knoll's Dark Magic level (didn't use any pupils this time). Can't pretend that I have a problem with the game being too easy, though, I'm never one to appreciate a challenge all that much lol. Either way, I had a much, much better time with this game than Binding Blade.

Knoll sucks in combat but his once a turn get out of jail free card summon that takes the first aggri every time is has been so crucial to some of my overextending methods working out.

Dussel is a God in the Ephraim route BTW. I get why Seth is still the MVP, but wrecking everything. I ende duo benching both Christmas Cavs other than for filler and swapped him in. Starts A rank in all weapon types?? Get the fuck outta here.

God the end of chapter 19 conversation is so much better in Ephraim's route.

Oh my God the summons aggro long range magic and staves.

Playing these back to back even the similar ones, it's fun noticing the little differences in mindset for how you treat your units in each.

Thought of this when I realized that in this game you don't need to worry about checking what mages have when sending over flyers, since Excalibur is a legendary weapon.

Really? Didn't have a problem with that one myself, maybe just got lucky? The ghost map in Erika's was harder.

The rivers map back in chapter 13 gave me hell, though.

El oh fucking El, I sent one of Knoll's summons to chip the Berserker above Valter, the Berserk crit killed HIMSELF on counterattack with the Devil Axe, my summon RECEIVED the Devil Axe, was then killed by a Wyvern, AND I lost the Devil Axe. Fucking hilarious.

Something funny: I don't think I've ever promoted a Paladin who didn't end up terrible, where I would have been better off using a prepromote.

In New mystery, Sirius was the best Paladin by far. I already bemoaned my Alen luck in Binding and how much Percival crushed it. And now Forde is dogshit compared to Seth.

I'm starting to think Christmas Cavs just aren't worth it, though I'm sure it's just bad luck.

Very different experience between the routes, definitely worth playing both, and I'm glad I started from scratch and glad I did this right away before moving on.

Boy I really wish I knew characters could only S rank one weapon type and I didn't lock myself out of S Rank light magic.

The person who leaked all the Engage info said the FE4 Remake is late 2023, early 2024.

But nearly every FE game including Engage internally was delayed a good bit in the past, I assume that would end up being the case here.

I'm surprised to not see a well known "Definitive Edition" mod for FE4 since that game is way more popular than FE5, but maybe that speaks more to how much more FE5 needed it due to how obtuse the original release was (I am of course going entirely off of send hand info here, I've never even seen FE5 in motion as far as I know).

Damn, well I though I would finish this tonight, but chapter 19 was kind of a mother fucker! That entire mess down there at the bottom was hell on earth.

That said, looking at this shop and how much money I have, I feel more powerful than I could have ever imagined now.

I know the game has an Awakening-esque (Though of course that more like Awakening has a Geneology-esque) second generation which is the one thing I have been spoiled on (nothing about the plot around it), and it makes me want to look at the eugenics optimization so fucking bad because that shit slaps.

Speaking of which, since I'm approaching the end, should I do the Ephraim route right after, or move to Geneology? I absolutely will be playing the Ephraim route for this topic either way, just a matter of when.

I'm such a big fan of Raiku's art. His use of really clean simple backgrounds with an extremely high detail object of focus stands out so much, an even just a full page spread of a character standing there can leave a huge impression.

Question for the future, did anyone ever put out a fan patched version of FE7 japanese in english? I know they made mechanical changes to the US version of that game like nerfing crits, and that the translation was real iffy.

Just finished 15, PLOT.

REALLY loving this, if getting 2/3rds through the game in one day didn't make that clear. Every map in FE6 I had to take a break, it was so stressful. This is the opposite. Not that there's NO challenge, but I'm not feeling any anxiety.
