It's hard not to catch feelings for an attractive person when you like them as a person and you aren't getting your needs met. I suppose if you're especially committed to creating friendships with someone you can push those feelings down but for what purpose? If you already have friends you don't want anything more from, why complicate your life like that? And if you don't have other friends and you don't have a partner or other romantic options, to form a friendship with a person who has one or both would be an imbalanced friendship, indeed. With the exception of some forced moves, the movesets are so open that the uncertainty that should propagate over even just a couple of moves is enormous. Seems so unlikely that people are projecting moves into the future, rather than recognizing general strategies (that have names) and implementing other strategies (that also have names) to try to counter. You're somewhat right but at the highest level you have to calculate a lot because one missed move is the difference between winning and losing. a grandmaster isn't going to miss a winning move once it's there so it has to be airtight. this doesn't apply to the vast majority of us, though, dumb dumbs as we are. Openings can run 20 moves deep so that isn't really thinking once you have them memorized. then you go into strategy. and then you get into tactics which are effing hard and endgames which are often harder. that's why players get hours to think it over. --- "They think it don't be like it is, but it do." -Oscar Gamble |

I was looking at my phone and he walked around me while I was sitting on a bench and he got in my personal space while kicking around trash on the pavement. then he got close enough to whisper "there you go, precious." He walked away and looked back. I stared him down and he said "what are you gonna do about it?" I wasnt prepared to get in a roast battle with this guy so what I said was pretty lame. "Nothing, you didn't touch any of my stuff." Him: Don't ever touch any of my stuff again. Me: I didn't touch your shit. He walked away and another guy came up on a bike and asked if I can help. I plainly said no. I was ready to fight someone at this point. I hate that this guy being a dick was enough to make me want to fight him. I at least wish I had joned him better. But if he'd wanted to hurt me, he could have done so when he flanked me while I was looking at my phone since I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of acknowledging him until he whispered at me.
