Head to head, I think the biggest thing in the Raimi movies favour is that the side characters are way better and more fleshed out, particularly the villains. I'm sitting here trying to remember who the villain was in the first MCU movie, and I'm literally drawing a blank. Meanwhile, Raimi had the Goblins, Doc Ock, Venom, etc. Zendaya is also terrible as a "love interest", and to this day I don't understand if her deadpan emotionless delivery is supposed to be some sort of intentional "joke", or if she's just a really bad actress (unfortunately we didn't see enough of her in Dune pt 1 to say one way or another). I feel like either her, or the writers watched way too much of the Daria cartoon

A lot of it could probably be chalked up to general MCU fatigue, and the fact that most of the MCU Spiderman movies came out around the time the MCU started sucking, but the Raimi movies will always be tops.

Also, probably more of a personal nitpick to me, but by far the biggest issue I had with the game is that the whole region the game takes place in simply does not exist at all in the CT world. Could they have not built the world map around the CT world map (even if you are restricted to a single area)? The fact that literally the only thing connecting CC to CT is the confusing and weird shoehorning of Robo/Prometheus, and that one illusion of Lenne square with the child ghosts of the main 3 protagonists from CT

Chrono Cross is a middling PS1 era JRPG with some janky combat mechanics, and a fairly nonsensical story. It's only considered an absolute garbage tier game because it absolutely failed as a sequel/followup to CT, and basically killed any concept of that being an ongoing franchise, and that's the real crime here.

I still blows my mind how Square took one of the best playing RPGs of all time, and turned it into the absolute dumpster fire that was Chrono Cross

The problem I always had with WOW is how even from the beginning it just seemed to completely invalidate the old lore/canon of WC 1-3.

A potential WoW2 needs to look at the thing FF14 did right, first by allowing a single character to respec and level all roles/jobs.

In 2022 people are willing to compeltely forego any sense of logic, or just easily discard any past beliefs if the "correct" person tells them to. See: all of the boomer conservatives who grew up fearing/hating Russia, who are saying he is justified in invading, and the Ukrainians arming themselves to fight off a tyrannical foreign government are somehow in the wrong. See also the other people that said the worst of the BLM rioting was "justified" because "sometimes civil disobedience requires blocking a few highways and burning a few buildings" acting completely apalled that the FluTruxKlan followed their template to a T

There's been a trend lately where people expect companies to exclusively balance a game targetting a VERY small niche of "professional" gamers, people who make income from Twitch/eSports and have 16 hours every day to play their game of choice. And then you have people in the community that barely play the game, but echo the "professionals" because they want to feel some sort of weird validation for "agreeing" with them, as if that makes them somehow a better player.

That's why I stopped playing Dota 2, and I suspect that's what's happening here as well

You can't take any reports that are being posted to Twitter as fact. You basically need to rely on any official reports from a trusted source like the AP or Reuters, since they will at least do some digging before plastering unfounded claims everywhere.

The best people left Bliaazard 10 years ago when Activision bought them, and the passable devs all left after the dumpster fire that is the last 2 years. That's an incredibly ignorant understanding of how taxes work.

Governments use the tax structure to drive policy and encourage people do do specific things through tax breaks. For example, giving people a tax credit for reducing energy costs through home renovations or new appliances, or tax credits for buying an electric car.

The "taxes are HAAAARD" people that can't do incredibly basic, fourth grade level math are the real problem here. Unless you're a business owner or do freelancing work, it takes 10 minutes to file your taxes. The government can't just "do it for you" as they don't have details on special programs or tax credits you may qualify for (unless you don't care about applying for those credits and are fine paying more taxes than you should be)

Hard to say, Putin seems adament that they don't want any NATO assets sitting on the Russian border (Kaliningrad and the Baltics excepted I guess). I imagine they will either add not joining NATO as a term for surrender under penalty of full annexation, but who knows

If you're saying they should join right now, I highly doubt NATO would accept them as that would be an immediate and direct escalation, and by the terms of the treaty immedialy put all of NATO at war with Russia

Russia won't take over the entire country. I suspect the surrender terms will be to cede Luhansk/Donetsk and formally recognize Crimea as part of Russia. Putin doesn't want the headache of trying to occupy a huge country like that, and having those 3 areas lets him pretend to be a Tzar while also pushing his narrative of trying to support the Russian separatists in those areas.

Once the bombs start falling, i think a large portion of the population stop caring about who their government is. You'll have a small group of people that will try to mount a resistance, but without the religious fervor like you saw in Afghanistan, it's a hard sell for average people to risk their lives

Noone is going to care about the events of this week within 2 years. Hell, for most people it won't even make it to the next news cycle. It's terrible for the people that are going to be directly affected by the fighting, but ultimately life will move on faster than you think

Also, you have to love when news reports come out about "Kremlin's official website was hacked/DDoSed" as if that even matters.

I get the sense that once the smoke clears and the Ukraine has surrendered, the actual death toll will be less than 500, and it will turn out that most of these "Ukraine has wiped out an entire Russian division!" were completely fabricated

Granted, Nicaragua's government is basically a thinly veiled dictatorship pretending to be a democracy, so there's that.

Ortega is a wannabe dictator and his alliegances will change at the drop of a hat depending on who is giving him more kickbacks. They had a strong relationship with Taiwan for decades, and ended that arbruptly a few months ago in order to curry favour with China. It's sad, since Nicaragua is a beautiful and safe country that with proper leadership could be on the same level as Costa Rica in terms of stability and quality of life.

I think the worst part about all of this is the Reddit tankie brigade absolutely eating up the Putin "Nazification of Ukraine" stupidity

I have no problem asking for ID when IDs are given to all citizens without any issues. And also don't expire. And are mailed to people when they change addresses with updated information.

So you "have a problem" with Canadian democracy then, since our IDs have expiry dates, and you need to request an updated ID if you move (either in person or online). I can't think of a single valid reason for a person to not have valid ID. Pretty much the only time they don't is because they are doing something illegal.

Also, because I have seen a lot of uninformed opinions, Canadian Charter of Rights and freedoms protects peaceful protests, and explicitly excludes protests that blockade legal activities (i.e. blocking a highway/road/train station). About the only thing the right wing whack jobs have right, is that the government is looking the other way for certain "protests" (i.e. all the native gas pipeline protests last year where Turdeau let them block highways and trains for almost 2 months).

The moral of the story here is that letting people illegally riot when it suits your narrative will inevitably bite you in the ass when people are rioting against your narrative.

OoT is a fun game, with excellent dungeons (even more if you go Master Quest version), smooth gameplay and an air of epicness.

BotW is a garbage game, where there are no dungeons, 90% of the time spent playing the game is farming mobs to replace the garbage weapons that keep breaking that you can't keep a sufficient number of because of the absolutely moronic inventory system, and falls into all the "garbage open world" traps of modern gaming by having no throughline.

I would take any Zelda game but Zelda 2 over the absolute tire fire that is BotW

There's a pretty big difference between the Wii U and the 360/PS3 in terms of install base, and there are probably a lot of people in developing countries that are still using a 360/PS3. Even then we're already starting to see games shutting down their 360 servers (Halo, GTAV are recent examples), and they already tried to shut down the PS3 store but caved to the pressure. Who is playing a Wii U in 2022, let alone buying 40 year old VC games on it?
