Plus the cantrips I know are Pathfinder, which are like 1d3 ranged touch attacks and not exactly monstrous.

I played some of Pathfinder Kingmaker and boy. Casters ARE sad lol. At least in early levels. I couldn't really stick with it.

A level 1 Wizard has two spell slots and like 4 HP.

Shield probably saves you from an attack or two, but it lasts one turn and it's gone.

Then you have one slot left for Magic Missile, which will knock one rat to roughly half health, but assuming you even get the spell off you have to survive the rats having you flanked and attacking you for 1d4+2 with +4 to hit, and all you have are 1d3 cantrips.

Unless I'm way off, a level 1 Wizard very much cannot take two giant rats at once.

Magic missile autohits and does a minimum of six damage with giant rats having 7 HP. Wizards have 6 HP if they have no con mod but that's just dumb. Firebolt is a d10 cantrip. There's also shocking grasp which is 1d8 and and negates opportunity attacks.

I think it's feasible! Of course, there's the dice.

A level 1 wizard with shield and magic missile should be able to defeat at least 2 giant rats before being overwhelmed

I think this is headcanon only. I think there is literally no confirmation of his sexuality. He kind of maybe? flirts with Chrissy, but also kind of with Steve too. So like. And Eddie has this really awful reputation, even before he's blamed for the murders, it seems. So there could be more there left unsaid.

Bullies in season 1 also used homophobic slurs at him, which normally would just be a "bullies being bullies" thing but he was the only member of the squad targeted with that

And when Joyce says that Will's dad says he's an f slur, Hopper pretty seriously asks "is he?"

I think the best thing would be to let her take the lead on whether she needs any help or not. If she does, I'm sure she would say so.

That's something that was weak about the Angela plot. It relied on Will being uncharacteristically cowardly (although, with being gay I can understand not wanting a bigger target on your back) and Mike to be stupidly oblivious.
