This may be ignorant on my part, but US currency is not very durable....a lot of printing has to be to make up losses of previous series being too damaged to keep being circulated(banks send back to be destroyed when they get notes in bad shape)...

They're not the same thing. Battle sisters have existed for a long time, though largely as more of a fetish curiosity than as a serious army. They got revamped into a new model line a few years ago.

If monsters were ever a serious problem in fantasy settings like that then there would literally be no huge cities because it would be impossible to have any.

I'm talking logically. Unless there's somehow a hoard of monsters constant attacking then wanting to rest is far more realistic.

It's more realistic for people to want to rest after a hard challenge.

Which gets into the problems HP has as as concept overall. Where you are generally completely fine and not really impaired in any meaningful way as you are constantly being shot, stabbed, or set on fire - but then you essentially stub your toe and die as you lose your last hit point.

Even games that include some form of physical penalty to characters with low HP (like Fallout using limb damage and applying drawbacks for crippled status) rarely do it realistically or gradually - it's an all-or-nothing thing. Which isn't really how any of this works in real life.

HP is so stupid as a concept that some games like D&D have started leaning into the idea that it isn't actually health as much as stamina - so it's less that you're walking around with massive flesh wounds and slowly bleeding out and more just you're exerting yourself so badly that you're using up your metabolic life energy. Though that still doesn't explain why you can potentially die from "passing out" when you hit 0 HP. And it still doesn't really justify why someone with 1/100 HP is still just as physically capable and energetic as someone with 100/100 HP, but losing that final HP is what instantly knocks you out/kills you.

The real answer, of course, is that these are all just game abstractions.

Oh, I actually believe it happened. It's not that uncommon to see people faint after getting vaccinated (even an hour or two later), and the Covid shot is no exception. Rather than attributing the doctor's response to a grand conspiracy by an evil pharmaceutical industry, however, I suspect it was just an overworked ER doctor trying to avoid having to deal with the extra paperwork associated with reporting an adverse vaccine reaction, especially when it's such a routine side effect and that single report isn't going to amount to anything in the grand scheme of informed risk analysis. That's not a very ethical thing to do, and it's very much not best practice, but it's a whole lot less nefarious than our vaccine-fearing friend seems to want to believe it is.

Anecdotes can absolutely be misinformation, though. By their nature, they overstate the risks involved and provide a very narrow picture of the situation, which can be very misleading if they're presented as being more significant than they are (such as following the anecdote with "they're all lying to you the vaccines are dangerous"). That's misinformation.

Lets say there is some intelligent species that has figured out a viable means of interstellar travel.
I expect they put as much thought toward earth as we do toward an anthill on the side of a major highway.

It's pretty much a statistical certainty that life exists elsewhere in the galaxy.

But we're never going to meet each other.

People really underestimate how BIG space is. You may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.
Even if the closest star system to us had life on it, and they flew here at the maximum possible speed allowed by the laws of physics, it would take four years to get here. That's a very long time for a ship to be running at maximum speed, especially consider the insane amount of energy that would be required to power the trip.

And that's assuming the closest star has life. It's far more likely that the nearest alien race is hundred or even thousands of light-years away. The alien crew would have to be put into some kind of biological stasis for the trip, and by the time they got here, eons would have passed on their home planet, making it essentially a one-way trip. They would never see their families again. Nobody on their home planet would probably even remember them. Who would be willing to make that sacrifice just to visit a comparatively primitive race like us? Hell, the human race might even be extinct when they arrived.

Everything we've learned about physics has told us that traveling faster than light is literally impossible. So unless aliens discover some technology that can break the laws of reality itself, they can't get here. Or even know we exist. It's kind of like if the entire earth was uninhabited except for one person in China and one in America. How likely is it for those two people to find the other exists, let alone travel to them?

I do believe there's alien life somewhere in the galaxy. But they've never been to Earth. And it's very unlikely they ever will.

1. This is the fermi paradox, and something a lot of people talk about.
2. The technology for FTL, or similar lighthugging technology to accelerating to .9c is something we can work on. There are always other avenues than just shooting something into space.
3. There's other ideas, including the great barriers and the dark forest theory that explain why things are so quiet. I'm partial to the dark forest theory right now, I think it's got a lot of good points.
