I saw today that 10/13 previous super bowl losers made the playoffs and 7 won a game

super bowl hangover isnt as much of a thing recently.

I think there is cause for concern about the bucs ability to make it deep with our current Oline health I just don't think there is as many question marks on our roster as the Saints, who are good and who will probably sweep us AGAIN tbf.

Although Maybe Brady finally falls of that cliff. I guess technically he is not a cyborg of some kind so maybe.

I said I was worried about the Titans, but I'm even more worried about Dallas. I think the Eagles hype has gotten out of control, but with a Dallas regression likely (the defense can't be as surprisingly good as it was last year, them losing Gregory is going to be a bigger blow than people realize), they should still come out on top. The Giants are my NFC sneaky not terrible pick, and I think the Commies will just be bad as Wentz continues his downward spiral.

NFC North

I do like the Vikings, but not by enough to pick them to overthrow the Packers quite yet. It's just hard to justify taking Cousins over Rodgers, and Green Bay's D should be really good. The Lions are (somehow) getting way too much hype this year, but at least they won't be the Bears, who have nothing on offense other than trotting out Justin Fields to get killed every week.

NFC South

3. Panthers
4. Falcons

Something feels off about Tampa Bay this year. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it feels like a team that could implode this season. Also, Brady with a bad offensive line feels like a big problem. The Saints have a lot of talent if Winston can minimize his bad plays. The Panthers will be just okay this year with Baker, and the Falcons will be so bad I won't be surprised if they have a package ready to use Patterson at QB at some point.

NFC West

I'm honestly not crazy about any of these teams. The Rams won the Super Bowl, but it's not like they were something overwhelming either (they were the 4 seed, after all). The 49ers have some weird drama that I don't care for bringing Jimmy G back, and I don't think Trey Lance is ready to lead this team anywhere significant yet. The Cards are giving off even worse vibes, and I don't trust them at all. The Seahawks literally have a QB depth chart of Geno Smith and Drew Lock.

It's like Mafia but instead the Town all has a codeword and Mafia does not.

At the top of the game, everyone submits a hint that is supposed to point towards the codeword without giving it away. Then people vote someone out that they think is a ghost.

At night, ghosts get a chance to guess the word. If they get it, they win. Otherwise, town learns the guess and the game continues.

That's a pretty cool game concept with a similar premise and less social wackiness. I should play that sometime lol

Well, how though? What would you suggest. 'We can be better' and 'we have a community with humans who have emotions and fluctuating moods and different methods' is not quite easy to marry.

If I could perfectly control people I would of course just do that, but in practice that's kind of the rub.

To be fair I have decided I am done playing here and am just going to host a few times a year, so in a sense how everyone wants to play or try to enforce rules isn't a personal problem for me other than me caring about the health of the community. I just don't want people wasting their own time on dead end solutions, but ultimately it is not my choice.

I agree. She was to me very inappropriate about you in private in ways I won't get into but she attributed a lot of things that were actually just 'lopen is mafia'

100% that's the policy we need, yes. Hosts have to do a better job of checking in if at all possible. Unlike dedicated sites that you guys don't want to use there are no moderators exclusively for games here.

If you are going to bring up your own mental health in the game and use it as a crutch then it's fair play in the game.

That's a pretty popular opinion in the wide world of mafia. Bringing up mental health issues in a game of cunning and deception is just uncomfortable for everyone.

It's one thing to go 'I am not feeling great, so I am going to be more sluggish this game' and another to bring up certain things in key moments.

Honestly modkills need to be used less, the standard on other sites is just replacing people out and telling them to go away.

But also being aggressive is a fine line and it isn't set by everyone else. Honestly this isn't an issue that needs to be policed much more, especially since I have yet to see any real case of sexism/racism in a long time here.

Self-policing is totally ok tbh. if someone says something, just tell them to stop in topic and if they don't they get replaced when it comes to over aggression. No need to hand out the super bans right away.

Like I said our community is mostly alright, and if it's really bothering you I would say that mafia probably isn't for you as it doesn't get too much better unless its very casual. Which is no great insult mafia is a really weird hobby to have even though I obviously love it.

Well, yes that is indeed very bad.

This also relates to my own trauma when it comes to these things and me being deeply uncomfortable with people being emotional when I am trying to play a game of reason.

That being said.

That was, in fact, me being a huge asshole and saying something in the heat of the moment due to being extremely uncomfortable with it being brought up in the first place and not knowing what to do with it. The one in question was because people didn't agree with her scum read on someone.

But also to be clear I'd ban Chris from that era today too. That is, literally, not OK.

I don't think he's being a dick. Well, maybe he is, but I don't take it that way fwiw. It's okay to bring up bad things I've done, and I think most of the time I would agree they are bad. I hate to admit it but for a very long time my mental health bounced up and down and all around and even now I still have my days (although mostly related to physical health if I am grouchy these days) so there's going to be one or 10,000 or so comments that I said rashly that I shouldn't have said. It's chill.

Our drama is almost always very mild to what I see going on or talked about in other communities. Turns out playing a game where you accuse people of lying in order to win causes issues.

I think I said it in a not good way though to be fair, and yeah I hope I would be better about that now then I was back then. I frequently cite my own old play as unacceptable.

Hey Chris, you had mentioned someone elsewhere told a player to slit their wrists. This is objectively an evil and wrong thing to say to someone. Well call that a 100 on the aggression scale.

Where do you think Board 8 is on that scale? I think its 2/100.

Probably like 20/100. Some sites are just amazingly passive lol. I would say most of the interactions here are fine and also a little aggression is fine but sometimes it goes a bit too far.

There is minimal outright toxicity here which is good. It happens, I don't like it, but I think it is self policed well.

Hello my beautiful kouhai, Chris here.

This community is pretty chill compared to a lot of the ones out there. I think this is mostly due to the fact that I looked in the mirror and hated what I was doing to my friends and decided to be pretty strict in how people interacted with one another so that took care of the outliers, and in general people here play pretty respectfully.

This community is mostly about as nice as competitive mafia can get, although it has its flaws still and I wish people would approach others a bit differently.

But I think it's a sampling bias when it comes to women flaming out of the community vs men. Plenty of men have flamed out too and rage quit and never returned, it is just that it stands out more when a woman does it because our community is generally speaking very man dominated in terms of numbers.

I don't think anyone here has played in a sexist manner, and I recall specifically some comments Crescent made to me privately about my king maker game as absurd tbh

Also Sultan is in fact awesome.
