The problem is we have it set up so the people pushing for change either have no intention or are incapable of actually following through with it (see: Justin Trudeau in Canada, Obama in 2008) or are exactly the kind of people the broken system benefits and are taking advantage of people not knowing better to further break the system, which also lets them cry about how its broken and they're the only ones who can fix it. It's just every time it's "We need to fix the system. I know what will help, a BUSINESSMAN!" Oh, yeah. The Union Busters and fat cat Pigs are going to fix the economy and help bring more families away from the poverty line. Like I said it wasn't irl mainstream so I think our conceptions of when vaporwave became popular are pretty different, given there is no hitlist to base it on. It was the same thing for a while and then inspired a bunch of different styles. Yeah, I mean Floral Shoppe came out in 2011 but seems like it didn't really take off until around 2012. So Vaporwave was reaching it's apex around 2012-2013 or so. I'm mostly basing it around the idea that vaporwave became pretty much as mainstream as it would ever be around that time, compared to basically the year before when it was largely just people making the music with each other and was less known. But vaporwave can literally be analyzed on a period of months in terms of what is considered the OG material. And yeah I guess when the process cycled back to an explosion of people making the music rather than just consuming what exists, it would reflect the social context of the time when people were consuming it. I graduated uni in '14 and went to grad school in September of '14 so both vaporwave and gamergate were basically centerpieces of these events. So I won't say that's when the world got particularly political, but it's definitely when gender/identity politics kind of started to catch fire. Fashwave emerged around 2015 when the ol' gate happened. Vaporwave hit popular internet success when Macintosh Plus released Floral Shoppe in 2011. Vaporwave was popular for years until GG happened then all of a sudden Fashwave and Trumpwave happened. And that's fine, to a point. Not every time and place is an area where someone wants to be hit on and they may already be taken. | wanderingshade 08/18/22 6:06:02 PM #5 | Society is to the point that women are exceptionally wary of all Men in case they are "up to something" unless that man is their type because of how creepy some men actually are against women just because they exist and are visible. It feels weirdly isolating being in public and getting the sense that all women have their guard up, because it makes it pretty clear they don't want anything to do with you based on your appearance. Not to mention that men are so starved for positive interactions with women (because men mostly traffic in degradation because haha funny suck it up buttercup), you then get to navigate the psychological minefield of "Am I misinterpreting bare minimum kindness as an invitation or not?" when they actually talk to you so either you take a shot. Or you don't to be polite (and feel like your sabotaging your once a year small chance of a woman actually bothering to pay attention to you). On top of there being so few places to actually try and break down these barriers, it's no wonder people use dating apps. But then you run into the same problems, on top of there being 1000 women for every ten men. Women using it to humiliate men or "have fun" at their expense. Or Single Moms, which that's fine there's nothing wrong with that, but not everyone wants to date into being a Dad out of nowhere. I guess what I'm saying is nobody "deserves" to be in a relationship but WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO HARD --- "You're made of spare parts, aren't ya, bud?" |

Barely a handful of them in my game got to level up because I only ever occasionally died. They were always so weak and easy to cut down immediately. The original Nemesis I had also permanently died the second time I killed him, which I don't think was supposed to happen. I tried to do some reading on Puritans and it seems like some of their ideas are exaggerated and their weren't quite that opposed to sex and sexual expression. It's really the Roman Catholics who started "sex is for making babies and a sin in any other context". Every year something gets worse. Things improving or getting better are just preludes to disappointment and dissatisfaction. My self esteem drops, feeling of love is the most debased, cliche form of it (unconditonal love from parents I've lived with for way too long), and a feeling that I'll literally never be able to self-actualize my life because to a certain degree I have no potential because I have no career or life drive.
