You can't really compare The Simpsons with Breaking Bad because they're so wildly different in tone and structure.

Like Jeopardy is on the list despite being a game show, and not a comedy/drama. Along with a few other talk shows. Do they really count? Sure, they have cultural impact. But I don't think most people would consider Jeopardy to be among the greatest shows ever if you asked them. Why not add Wheel of Fortune or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

I mean I dislike ranking things in general, but especially something as broad as TV, so I largely agree. I still see what they are going for. Like Jeopardy is a piece of our TV landscape that is impossible to ignore so I can understand it being listed even if it in no way competes with something like Mad Men or 30 Rock.

And I guarantee there are quite a few people who will tell you that Jeopardy is their favorite TV show if you ask.

There is so much TV, spanning so many years and genres that these lists are almost impossible to judge. I try to look at in in aggregate and honestly, while I have differences in opinion on the placement, this is a good list and it doesn't have any shows where I'm like "what are they thinking?" I can see why each show placed.

like, objectively Game of Thrones and The Simpsons were among the best shows of all time in their respective genres for at least several seasons. Do shit seasons negate that?

arrested developments initial run absolutely deserves a place on the list; do the bad Netflix seasons mean it should be left off? I dont think so imo

The way I see it the Simpson's had at least 8 seasons of peak sitcom quality. Very few shows get to 8 seasons period and they never operate at that high of a level for that long. The fact that it eventually became mediocre doesn't undo the fact that their is an entire long-running A+ show there.

The advantage the Simpson's has here is it doesn't do a long-running narrative. There is no story arc that needs to be completed. If you just stop watching after season 9, you aren't losing anything. Breaking Bad as a serialized drama does have to factor being viewed as a single cohesive story experience. So it does get hurt if it can't stick the landing. Game of Thrones is a good real-life example of that. Shitty payoff does in fact make the earlier seasons less good.

The scarcity of tools in the beginning definitely makes the early game harder. But at a certain point you are kinda of a walking force of death and most difficulty vanishes.

This timeline is wildly accelerated once you start getting hearty foods. Then health becomes trivial. These things are easily obtained as soon as you get off the plateau if you know where to go so any playthrough after the first is even easier.

Any actor who is an actual important character on a show is notable enough to be the headline on their own. If an actual main Riverdale cast member was in trouble the headline would read "Lily Reinhardt sentenced to life in prison"

Any time you see "[SHOW] actor [is in trouble]" it means it's a no-name actor and that their bit part in [SHOW] is the most notable part they had on their IMDB page.

Pretty much, and that's ultimately fine. Your expense is basically three pieces: your "tip" (bid) to the driver, the service fee to Door Dash and the food.

It's not an inherently bad system. It's expensive sure, but delivery is a luxury and luxury costs money. I think the one thing that it really needs is a fair system for addressing bad service. Because that is where the biggest anxiety from pre-tipping comes from. I know a lot of services allow for tip editing, but that runs the risk of screwing over good drivers delivering to shit customers.

While the show absolutely has criticisms of capitalism and capitalist societies, the idea of people dying in death games for the amusement of the upper-class is not an inherently capitalist one. Like it's thousands of years old.

There is a strong argument to be made that a team of incredibly powerful individuals would need some level of oversight by the government(s).

The problem is that since Cap woke up he watched the government try to nuke its own city, an act said team of powerful individuals had to stop and then later found out that the it had been infested at the very core by a secret society of terrorist on all levels. Said terrorist who tried to use government resources to kill millions upon millions of people. An act that was once again prevented by Cap and his friends.

So it's kinda easy to see why Steve had some pretty major reservations about the whole oversight thing. Especially when there primary goal was to capture his framed friend.

If a good idea relies on a fundamentally broken system, it's not a good idea.

Which is unfortunate as Matt Ryan has been owning the role across a several different mediums for nearly a decade. I was almost surprised that he didn't show up in Sandman, as it was like the first Constantine adaptation to not use him since like 2014.

Musk won't end up buying Twitter, they'll eventually end on some sort of settlement where Musk pays Twitter some amount of money to exit the deal. Twitter is just going full-steam ahead because the more serious their threat to make Musk hold up his end of the bargain, the more he'll have to cough up to back out of it. Musk is holding off so far because he thinks he can get enough bot data or whatever to leverage down what he'll have to pay to exit.

Of course at the end of the day I'm sure Musk will come out ahead because I'm sure he made bank on the stock manipulation which was what he really tried to "buy" Twitter for. Because that was the real goal of this scheme.

I agree completely. It does feel like its harder to empty the tank when I'm sitting. Like I'll take a shit and obviously pee during that process but either I'll need to stand back up and finish the job or be taking another bathroom break more quickly than normal.

Also yeah not dealing with the process of sitting down to pee is nice. And anything that minimizes my physical contact with public toilets is a win.

I mean I don't like Corrin either, they are literally my least favorite character in the franchise, but at least they were stylistically in the ballpark of Fire Emblem. And then Three Houses seem to do even more course correction on the style (except for of FemByleth, who's design I also hate). So I'm a little taken aback we now have got this Genshin Impact wannabe as protagonists. It just doesn't feel FE at all.

I mean I have a LOT of reservations about the new Fire Emblem game (like so so many), but I'm going to keep them largely at bay until I hear more (though unless they do a full redesign of the main character, that one is definitely gonna stand. Seriously what were they thinking with that shit?).

Fighting for fair wages does more good than trying to finger wag customers who don't tip. You're basically falling for divide and conquer.

A non-tipping customer isn't "fighting for fair wages", even if they honestly belive they are, they are just causing workers to literally make less money for their work. Which is like the opposite of what they are claiming to fight for. So if the establishment knows that someone is about to short-change their workers, I don't blame them for not serving the customer.

I clicked the topic assuming this was some sort of vengeance thing and she had killed the rapist later. Which while understandable is still very illegal.

But no, this woman was still in fucking captivity when she killed her rapist. Like in what fucking world does a trafficked person killing her way out of a situation count as murder? I completely agree that tipping culture is dumb and there is a reason most the rest of the world doesn't have one. But you change that by not going to businesses that use the tipping model and patronizing ones that pay their employees proper wages. You change that by calling/writing your legislators and telling them you want restaurants to have to pay real wages.

You do not change that by going to a tip-based business, using their services and then not tipping. You hurt only one person doing that and it's your server. You just make yourself into a complete asshole, regardless of your noble intentions.

As a 33 year old man, who while reasonably in shape, is not like buff or anything, I'm pretty much relegated to Professor Oak out of that list. As the rest are teenagers or ripped.

If you are driving slower than the speed of traffic you should try to stay in the right lane as much as possible to facilitate passing. Not doing so is dangerous for everyone.

If you are in a single lane road or highway you really should be going the speed limit. If you notice that cars are beginning to line up behind you, it is advisable to pull over at your nearest opportunity to let them pass you. Not doing so just encourages increasingly dangerous passing behavior.

I mean you can think that a grown woman should be financially and legally independent while also still thinking that woman might also be a bit of a mess of a person. There are a lot of messy, free adults.

The only really disappointing losses are the ones when Ozark or late season GoT won. Like there is enough top-tier television that it's entirely possible that a great show could have a bad run of luck and get beat by other great shows. And since BCS started Ozark and GoT is really the only shows who won that I consider not great.

Rhea Seahorn and Michael McKean did get snubbed from a nomination perspective though and that is unforgivable.
