No need to get riled up lol. I didn't say the game was bad, just that it's kinda silly to act like it has no competition. The Mario formula of "here's a million different, largely linear obstacle courses that last about a minute each" works. In terms of mechanics and level design they know what they're doing. I just think that a side effect of this formula is that very few levels feel like they have a sense of individuality. It's not until you get to the more gimmicky stages and the Star World levels in the second half of the game that I feel the levels really start to feel like complete experiences unto themselves.

Sonic games have plenty of faults too. Sonic 3's levels go on way too fucking long in some instances. Sonic 1's difficulty curve doesn't make any fucking sense. But from a visual design perspective they blow most Mario worlds out of the water. Gimmicks are integrated into the level design in a way that makes it feel like you're in an actual environment. Each stage has multiple fully-fleshed-out paths to explore that make repeat playthroughs feel unique. Both franchises have entirely different goals that it's silly to prop one up as definitively better than the other when they both execute those goals so well. >___>

I watched a lot of the Godzilla movies on cable when I was a kid. I loved the property, even the stupid sci-fi plots. I really wish there was some sort of Bluray box set. I even liked Godzilla 2000--it didn't try to be Japanese Godzilla, it was a dumb campy movie in the post- Independence Day era of dumb summer movies. Id honestly rather of that than most stuff today. You see, I'm weary of Hollywood movies, so I had been putting off watching the monster cinematic universe. I started with Kong: Scull Island. That was actually a decently executed monster movie. 7/10. My hopes were high.

But oh my god Godzilla 2016 is pretty bad. I have a crush on the Olson lady but besides that...jeez what a snoozefest and most of what's here is cheesy af and takes itself way too seriously. It some a few great Godzilla scenes but the strongest character dies in the first 3rd of the movie.

Should I carry on or just be done? King of Monsters looks sweet. And I could just google Godzilla vs Kong "ending battle" or something for the fun part.

Honestly Mario World is a tad overrated. Like it's really good, but it's not even close to incontestable. It goes on a bit long and a lot of the levels feel kinda samey. It doesn't start to really shine until you get out of that cave area in the middle, imo

Wow i respect your opinion but it sucks. Samey? Sonic levels only change scheme like every 3, and there's only like four pallets per game. There are like over 60 enemy types in SMW which is like, as much as the 3 genesis sonics put together. Literally the 3 sonic games put together are still less of a game than Super Mario World. This is just my opinion though, I love Sonic 1-3 :)

FFVI was amazing in 1994. In 2022 its dated as hell and super boring. I'll play thru it eventually but I'll have to use an emulator to speed up the boring battles.

Preferably action (Zelda-ish) with equipment and/or crafting. Cool boss battles. I want Skyrim but pixel art basically. There is The World of Anterra but it's not out yet.

sure it was slower but not THAT much slower, and the remasters with the speedup...it's by far, the best.

The stories pacing is the best, the games pacing is the best, the soundtrack is a tie between all 3 imo, i like the characters in ix better, the scenarios in ix are better, bosses are cooler (ffvii has some weird shit).

I love the way VIII starts, I just think junctioning and drawing were stupid and the plot kinda takes a turn for the worst. FVII too gets a bit too convoluted for it's own good and the translation is EH and I'm still not sure what happened in that game.

FFIX starts off as a feudal/sorta steampunk fairy tale and it transcends to have much deeper themes and really, it's about life, growth and death as well as getting down to the nature of consciousness without being too heavy handed or over-bearing.

Dehydration and /or a lack of Oxygen can cause memory and brain issues, even damage.
