I literally feel the opposite of OP. If you take away the Megaman games -- I'd much rather play most SNES platformers. The system I feel is super overrated is N64.

How tf I forget Kirby Super Star? And some of those I still need to look into. I somehow didnt even know there was a Super Adventure Island.

And I'm not sure the N64 is overrated since I dont think people hold it in that high regard anymore. That really is the system where you only had a handful of great games.... really it only had a handful of games period....

Nes? Theres 4. The first wasnt really adventure island and 4th was jpn only but 2 and 3 are great.

Snes had 2. One traditional with no dinos so im not crazy about it and another adventure rpg.

Also Dino City on snes

My bad I meant SNES. I know about the 4 on the nes. The 4th one is great, the systems swansong I believe.

Mario is at least a couple and DKC trilogy. There's 5 right there.

Id list things like smart ball and claymates though.

Oh yeah SNES had SMW (personally not a huge fan controversial opinion I know), and Yoshis Island. The DKC trilogy, the 3 Megaman X games (some might argue against the third one being good though), Super Castlevania, Contra 3, and Super Metroid. Kind of hit a roadblock after that but I feel I should know more.

Also was there an Adventure island game on the nes?

This is why I've been playing more NES lately. The SNES library has a huge disparity in quality games. You have maybe 20-30 masterpieces and maybe 100 decent, fun games. After that, it's all shovelware and sports titles.

You could probably say the same about the NES but I'm always picking up carts at my local vintage game store and finding fun little games. I just bought Wall Street Kid last weekend and had fun figuring it out. I also picked up Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I can't wait to play it and see how bad it really is.

Yeah it's funny, I always hear in regards to the NES theres only a handful of great games and a bunch of garbage, but I'm feeling that's more true for the SNES, ofcourse both systems are goldmine when it comes to hidden gems. In general though I feel like the NES has a lot more games worth playing especially in terms of platformers. Also probably better for scrolling shooters and beat em ups while SNES was a big jrpg machine.

I'd somewhat easily compile a 50-100 best games list for most platforms but when we start getting into genres, it gets a lot harder depending on the genre.

True though platformers were just so abundant at the time, and in a way they were like "the gaming genre". I just felt like as iconic as the SNES is I'd expect to be able to name a lot more than I can but i kinda hit a bump a lot quicker again compared to the Nes and Megadrive.

The Super Nintendo no doubt has some of the very best platformer games of all time, but I noticed when trying to list the best platformers on the system theres a point where the quality just nosedives and I have trouble thinking of anything.

Like maybe I'm full of shit here but I feel like if any of you tried to list the 20 best platformers on the system youd hit a spot where you cant think of anything or head on into the Realm of average or mediocre games. Obviously it depends on what you consider great but I feel like I could list significantly more great platformers for the nes or Megadrive.

And if you're wondering the point of this topic idk just a thought I had.

The atmosphere in the first few Splinter Cell games is unrivalled. Im also gonna go out on a limb and say the graphics and art style probably still hold up today.

Chaos Theory story, coop and multiplayer are some of my favourite gaming moments of all fucking time. God was that a tremendous game.

Chaos Theory is still gorgeous imo. And yeah it holds up beautifully. Chaos Theory and Thief 2 the metal age are still the best stealth games ever.

In terms of stealth it's not very good tbh. The stealth is more fun than the combat at least but it's more a game you play for atmosphere and feeling like Batman.

Amiga port looks identical to the DOS port, which is the version most people played, I think.

Love this game. Combat is a drag but you can actually get around that. If I was going to play the game again I would definitely NOT get a second party member until I had to. It goes much faster if it's just you.

I think the Dos version didnt have music? I think Amiga just had a few quality of life stuff like mouse support but is largely faithful to the original. I still prefer the combat over the usual jrpg stuff, I just think that time racks up with so many encounters.

Playing the Amiga port but yeah this game has aged a lot more gracefully than I expected, then again im someone that played a lot of nes jrpgs. I'd say this has them all beat though. I definitely expected the combat to be a lot worse based on what I've heard but it's pretty solid, just maybe too many enemy encounters it becomes overwhelming. Still the game is more than just playable it's still a masterpiece. Havent finished but I'm excited to play more Ultima.

It's more the fact that she was working at the shelter and it could be an abuse of power. It's why teachers at university shouldn't be having relationships with students and so on. That and her comments on homeless people in general.

Can't argue with that. Every album they put out was great.

Although it's a tough choice between Realm of Chaos and War Master for their best album.

Tbh theres no real wrong answers. Realm of Chaos just hits the spot perfectly for me.

Like I said in my previous post, your first watch through it can kind of be a drag until the end of episode 12, then you can't stop watching. On rewatches the first 12 episodes you appreciate a little more noticing signs of what's to come. I know they were just world building and the first 12 episodes are like that slow climb to the top of the first drop of a rollercoaster but they could have at least done better to keep first time viewers captivated.

Having seen it I dont think the anime got that much better around the halfway point. In some ways I prefered the first half.

Steins;Gate is IMO the single best visual novel game because it actually works as a visual novel with choices. The whole concept is perfect for such a setup.
