I kept expecting a swerve where one of them was evil or a jerk but it was all genuine. They were genuinely good people and after the episode I couldn't stop smiling.
This was the best part imo. I kept thinking someone is gonna turn, if not all of them.

It didn't hit me till they were walking Jen out with her car that they were a genuinely great group of guys.

I really liked this redemption arc for Blonsky overall.

is it any good?

Liked Obi-Wan, adore She-Hulk for some reason. Hated those goddamn Ewok movies in the 80s.
It's early, but so far, it looks pretty good even if it wasn't really Star Wars and just a new sci-fi show. I say check the first 4 episodes before calling it quits, because for me, the 4th episode greatly increased my interest.

Karn is so compelling to me. His life is at a complete crossroads right now. Either he learns from what he did, thinks about the consequences of his actions and strive to make amends or he doubles down, blames everyone else and gets suckered into extremism.

Both are completely believable.

This show really nails the politics of actually living in Star Wars during this era.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

CyricZ posted...
And I can't wait for Karn to become more engaged, either to see him properly step up or properly fuck up.
Yeah, Karn does seem like he would end up becoming more extreme, but I think it's also a good point that this was it for him now that I think more about how he walked home in shame.

Punished_Blinx posted...
Mon Mothma's home life is so shitty too. Her husband being some 'apolitical' douche who finds the struggles and inconveniences of others outside his vision boring or irrelevant. A guy who has fun trolling his wife by forcing her to have dinner with Emperor lackeys.
That's exactly what I was thinking as it was playing out. Dude doesn't give a fuck and gives off massive troll vibes. Just casually invited Palpatine's consort to dinner. Fucked up lol.

The Skywalker saga has a lot of baggage lol.

Its not a bad show, but, like with Rogue One:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/9/2/AACE4xAADuvk.jpg

Waiting for a reason to care about any of these characters lol

This is the only side of Star Wars where I havent felt compelled by the characters. Its so bizarre to me that the movie and this show are so praised. I feel like Elaine and The English Patient lol.

The stuff with Mon Mothma was cool though. And of course, dropping the Rakata name was the highlight.
I get what you're saying. It's very early right now, but I think the 24 episodes between 2 seasons should be ample time to build that up.

Damn no posts?

This show is a league ahead of the other Star Wars live action stuff IMO. It has an actual range of characters with their own believable actions, motivations and responses that have ramifications that go well beyond what they could expect or imagine. It doesn't rely on fan service to be interesting. Cinematography and locations are top notch. Even if this didn't have the Star Wars branding it would be an actual good sci-fi show.

It'll be a total shame if it gets overlooked but I suppose not overly surprising since the pitch doesn't seem to be interesting on the surface.
Yeah, this show is definitely a step up. This episode was especially good with the new ISB and Mon Mothma stuff. Mon Mothma looked great. Can't believe they've kept the same actress from RotS and Rogue One. It was also great to see Coruscant again.

Karn is a wildcard right now. I wonder if he'll be a third side or if he'll end up helping Andor.

Like others said, I didn't find this episode boring. Though I may be biased because I love every minute of the extended editions, so slow building like this is great for me. I can see others being turned off though.

I think so far the show is amazing. It's a worthy extension of Tolkien's live action world so far. However, I was pissed that they're going with alternating the storylines every week like many shows like GoT do. Having to wait two weeks is pretty annoying, especially if it's left on a cliffhanger.

As for Haldbrand, I think he's probably gonna be the Witch King and the old man is probably some OC wizard. I don't think we're gonna be seeing Sauron at all this season. I think Adar (Uncle Benjen from GoT) is gonna be the main villain for the time being.

Btw, whats the speculation on Adar? One of the first Elves experimented on by Morgoth to create Orcs?

Lol whoops. Well I guess just having read The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales recently, my mind keeps having to jump through hoops to get this to all work. I can enjoy it more if it's its own canon. At this point I'm half expecting Isildur to have a baby and it's Aragorn lol. Arathorn was just an alias for Isildur, and the Third Age is only 87 years long.
Sometimes you just gotta enjoy the ride for what is it. You also have to consider there's lots of complications with respect to the Tolkien Estate.

There are lots of changes to the original movies and it's one of the greatest things ever created. I wasn't sitting there going "Gandalf really took 17 years to get back to Frodo in the books, fuck this shit"

Isildur's hot sister Earien is an entirely new character. He only has a younger brother. If they can make it work, I'm all for it.

I fucking loved it. I've seen it twice now.

It felt very much LotR and Middle-Earth to me. I'd say it's closer in feel to The Hobbit than the LotR trilogy, but that's not a bad thing since I'm talking about aesthetics and atmosphere. It's definitely darker than The Hobbit.

Biggest disappointment to me is that Howard Shore only did the main opening theme, and not the whole OST. But I still gotta give Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica OST) credit for making a very compelling OST. My favorite so far is the Valinor theme.

I feel like between the usual hate and the Tolkien purists, this show is gonna unfairly get a bad reputation. I really liked it so far, even though it's not perfect and does have issues.

The plan was originally to have a different director for each movie. Abrams only directed 9 because Trevorrow backed out and Disney decided it was easier to hand it to one of the existing directors. The point of Abrams having a script for all three is he wanted to coordinate with those other directors to make sure there was the kind of narrative cohesion that we ended up not getting because the person in the middle, with full knowledge of what was planned for the third movie, did the opposite of all of that.
No, that wasn't the plan. The plan was to have JJ direct all three. That's how Steven Spielberg approached him and got him to do it.

The thing is that it looked like JJ didn't really want to and wanted to spend that time with his family. Spielberg basically had to ask JJ's wife to convince him.

Which is pretty shitty and why he left after TFA. That's when they had to get RJ and CT. RJ was given the option to follow JJ's outline, but he refused and even had JJ go back and change the ending of TFA (Luke still had the Force in the original and was training when Rey arrived)

F*** community college. Its my right as an Murikan to take on student loan debt by going to an expensive university and then demanding the government pay for it!
A lot of the student debt people rack up is not even from tuition. It's from room and board, which is, relatively speaking, useless and not worth the scam prices.

Community college AND state colleges in most states both have very similar costs actually. Both can be had for less than $10k a year. When you add in the pointless $14k+ for room and board, even state college becomes expensive.

Private colleges are a complete scam since just tuition alone can be like $40k-$50k+ a year, whether its NYU or some random ass school. There's no reason anyone should be pushed to those.
