I will second the nomination for reading The Disaster Artist. It's also probably the most anxiety-producing "I need to put this book down and walk away right now because WHAT THE FUCK WHY" things ever. At least four or five times I remember just needing to take a break and come back later. Also hilarious. Also dark. Also emotional. Also passionate. It's an incredible addition. Sestero delivers.

Lest you think this was just an acquisition to broaden a portfolio, the developers came out after this and said that due to the FTX acquisition, they'd be looking into introducing blockchain-related technology into the game, including NFTs. The community went properly apes*** and everything was on fire. It's all been burnt down and not much is left now, as you can see by the lack of reviews since, although the game does remain active.

Ohhhhh, so this is probably why it became laggy as all hell to run and I couldn't stomach playing a single game anymore when it took like five minutes for my pc to work properly again after exiting the game.

Here's a dumb analogy my brain thought of earlier, but didn't post.

Ultron is like the villains in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie: should be terrible and menacing but are even hammier than the rest of the cast. I thought of Paul Ruebens and his death scene likening it to Ultron's "Aw come on" moments as Whedon characters who don't break the fourth wall but know that it's there. But Rutger Hauer as the big bsd vampire being a smug quip machine with a penchant for theatrics... yeah, Age of Ultron is the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.

Know what struck me as one of the coolest reveals for the fifth member of Bianca's team?

It didn't have to be Becky.

All three horsewomen that aren't Bayley could've been legit surprises that would've popped the crowd. Naomi could've been a surprise and popped the crowd. Ronda Rousey somehow could've been the fifth and been a big surprise pop. One of the most out-there choices could've somehow been IWGP's women's champion Kairi Sane and it wouldve made sense on Bianca's team somehow.

The best choice is Becky, but the fact that there's a solid amount of viable and surprising options as the fifth is absolutely cool and speaks to the strength of the options and people WWE has built and the Survivor Series build.

what bothers me about the mandarin twist is that that aspect of the plot goes absolutely nowhere. maybe i would have been fine with it if it had an awesome, well thought out payoff. instead, we get "killian is the REAL mandarin! ...well, not really. we later find out that another guy is the REAL real mandarin!" what the hell? it seems like they just wanted to troll fans of the mandarin from the comics and then had no idea how to proceed after they did that.

Dont know responses after this one, but I rather like the twist.

Killian Dain's work with Extremis is a great third act in the Stane-Hammer-Dain of awful magnates. While the NYE backstory is absolutely terrible and really deadens the personal connection with Stark, him as just a straight corrupt businessman trying to create the next super soldiers? The investigation into the explosions/suicide bombings was a great and intriguing thread. The discovery that it's failed science experiments using volunteer veterans is a jawdrop, and the way all these explosions use the fear The Mandarin and the terrorist Ten Rings as cover for it is just brilliantly evil pr and use of the media to hide lies and genius on Killian's part as manipulation.

Killian himself is terrible at having a personal connection at all to Tony, and Extremis definitely falters with him as the final fight, but cooking a conspiracy of terrorism to cover the explosions was vile. It's ballsy, too, because there's only so long before someone else or the government figures it out if Tony wasn't involved, but by the then, Killian's banked on Extremis finally being workable to produce his own private superpowered army. But then again, Winter Soldier's not out yet so we don't know how deep Hydra is or how much latitude and cover they give towards Dain (since Tony refused to cede his suits and weapons to the government in 2, and Hydra wants power.)

I will say, though I like it and am most fond of the Tony and the kid scenes, it is definitely a flawed movie and get why people dislike it.

Speaking of Farrell, what do you think of the Affleck Daredevil movie? I was channel-surfing one day and decided to see how much of it I could tolerate. I stopped once an ad break came up but it didn't seem too bad; if anything it was strangely prescient of the Nolan Batman movies in terms of trying to take itself more seriously than the norm. Doesn't help Ben Affleck would go on to play the Caped Crusader himself later on, so seeing him playing a superhero who picks off his foes from the shadows creates an eerie effect. Seeing Jon Favreau in the movie was kind of interesting as well, especially in light of his brief interaction with the MCU's Daredevil in No Way Home.

The Director's Cut is on Youtube. The theatrical release is a bit of a mess and the love story scenes are all jumbled up. Director's Cut adds more story and fixes the timing of things so ot works as a much better movie.

My headcanon is that if Daredevil wasn't messed with as much as it was by studio executives, Favreau wouldn't have neen nearly as strong in his vision with Iron Man and we may not have had the MCU as it is.

I wonder if the art translated older Beatrice opening her eyes differentlythan original art.

Dreamt about the Dillos last night. GMUNny had an old ranking missing a few people for some reason and I was searching my documents for anything and searched a 'Blakely' or some other obscure user I would have minimal history with and came up with like five topics from ~2006. I wasn't able to find what she was looking for, but did enjoy time travelling to Fantaland and a hotness ranking of Rune Factory characters.

Just watched the first and last episodes of season 1 earlier today, and it was amazing how different some characters are. Luther is my favorite character in Season 3, and watching the dance clip of Season 1 only, I think maybe he wasn't so bad. But my god is he just the worst. He does everything wrong. Obsessing over dad's monocle, pretty much accusing one of his siblings of murdering ol' Hargreeves, pretty much everything when it came to Victor. The only decent thing he did in those two episodes was helping Allison reach out to her daughter, and he still was professing an undying love for Allison while talking to her kid which is just... ugh. And even worse when he completely ignores her to tackle Victor and use Allison to distract him. Diego's a jerk, Klaus is unreliable, and Five tells no one anything, but Luther is just the wooorrrsst.

I did miss Hazel and Donut Lady.

Two other notes.

One, I know Gallagher is an amazing actor now, but I didn't really realize until watching the first episode again. He's such a normal kid in the flashbacks. Like, he doesn't look any different with that uniform on besides inner age, but it's just so... stark here. It never really registered.

Two, when Victor had his four brothers and was siphoning off their energy... that was crazy similar to Project Oblivion siphoning off the seven. It was startling.

I hated that episode.

My anxiety is through the roof. So much tension, so much what's going to happen, how bad can this get, why is this so barren of color and sound, why is it so normal and anywhere USA? My stress at work is going to be through the roof.

It was a great episode. But it's scary. Which might be the point.

Reading the Mistborn books right now, and now hearing one of the character's voices (Clubs) as Mike Ehrmantraut has made it twenty times better.

I don't know if applying Mike far and wide for everyone would work out, but here, being blunt and matter-of-fact and crabby seeming at all times? Yes.

To the episode itself, it's amazing all around. One of the things that really popped out is just... how much things changed. We saw the Goodman & Associates sign being lifted up only to be a completely different sign cutting back. The new decal on the door was different. Just so much effort and bit-by-bit coming together of everything only for Jimmy's world to be completely s***tered and fall into the void, a black hole where everything is sucked away and we wake up years later with Saul as he exists in Breaking Bad. Jimmy's life has no more meaning, and therefore everything from Kim leaving on has no meaning.
