I don't know if unions in other industries are different, but I've found that in manufacturing, specifically in machine shops, unions often foster laziness in employees and a workplace where things take longer than they need to. I've heard stories of CNC machinists in union shops that are not allowed to edit their programs since that's the programmers' job. So things that should be easy 5 second fixes become a whole rigmarole involving people from various departments.

I won't speak on the laziness aspect of this, but as for the second half of your post this seems like something that can be addressed by the union. If enough people come together to hash it out, they can likely get past those nonsense rules, but that does require union members to participate.

I'm part of a union because I work for a school and they tend to be unionized places of work. Can't say enough good about my workplace, though I am only a few months in.

I've never sued anyone, but in 2019 I was sued by some woman who thought I hit her car in the parking lot of the apartment complex I lived in. I can see why she might have thought so (I had a scuff of paint matching her car color from my brother backing into me years prior) but the damage was not at all matching otherwise. I did everything I could to try to convince her that I didn't do it, and she carried on to court and lost.

I've always preferred the college game. NFL spreads are so close every week between any teams, whereas in college you could have a 20-point underdog come out and upset a big favorite. Couple that with rivalries (not arbitrary divisional matches) and trophy games, the marching bands, different styles of play...College football is just so much more fun all around. Pro football seems like a stream of new guys coming in, putting in ~3 years of hard work, signing a big contract and then dialing back their effort once they get paid. College, while not quite as high-level, gives you most everyone's maximum effort while they try to make it to the pros.

But honestly, despite Wario's described "Herculean Strength" I'd still give the nod to DK. His coconut gun can fire in bursts.

Not exactly what I want to see the year before College Football comes back and previously NCAA games were just "Last year's Madden with college skins".

Let's hope that's changed and the college game next year will be better than this crap.

I've generally been fine with the banner ads and few little annoyances I'd get while browsing here, but it's now gotten much too much out of hand with these huge middle-of-the-page ads and the like. I have to assume many/most of you have been using some extensions or add-ons to keep it looking clean here, so what do you recommend? I'm on FireFox for what it's worth.

Idk, but if he's on the ballot against these others he's got my vote. Dude gets results and has shown enough compassion in his life to not feel entirely awful about voting for him.

I understand the arguments to be made for Trump and Reagan, but Teddy is just in a league of his own here. Seems like there's always a crazy story you can learn about him that is much wilder than the last one you heard.

I was reading a quip from an interview of some sort with Bill Hader talking about the finale next week. He said that this week was dark, but next week's episode only has maybe two jokes in it and is really more disturbing. He mentioned the editor or someone who puts the shows together had to take a few extra days because it was tough on him. I love the show, but that interview has me kinda nervous for what to expect.

Just finished watching this. Way better than I was expecting, and Ugly Sonic was a hit for me, but I'm also a *huge* sucker for anything Tim Robinson does. I hope they make sequels, and also a Darkwing movie. I had fun from start to finish.

It's really situational. If we're talking Cedar Point, I've been enough times, it's not particularly great, and I don't need to see it again. If it's, like, Disney World or something, yeah that's the plan.

Additionally, if you're going to see Cleveland baseball, Progressive Field isn't exactly a baseball mecca either, and their whole division is kinda slumping. Probably not going to be a riveting game, but still a cool way to kill a few hours. Might be different if you're going to Wrigley Field or Fenway where there's a better team playing/historically great stadium.

It's always hard for me to choose between DS3, Demon's, Bloodborne, and now Elden Ring. They're all so good in their own right. I ended up voting for DS3 simply because at the time of voting it had no votes and DS2 had one which was an absolute injustice that needed correcting.

I signed on for a class-action suit against an insurance company probably two years ago. Haven't heard anything back about it. Maybe one day I can look forward to a surprise $30 or something.

I feel this sentiment. I don't think I've said anything on this board that's made me (m)any friends, or given people a more positive impression of me, but I still skim around here like I have for the last 20 years reading and replying to people just for the fun of the discussion. I don't particularly recall any particular spats with individuals or anything.

FedEx said mine was delivered on Apr 30th but it was nowhere to be seen. I was also in my yard at the time it was supposedly scanned in as delivered at my door and never saw FedEx come. I put in a support ticket about it and they said they would investigate. After a week of waiting they tell me they are sending another one. That shipped on Tuesday. Yesterday the initial one shows up on my door 11 days after the scan says it was delivered.

So not sure if I send one back or just say nothing.

Mine's a bit odd, but Little Caesar's used to have the *best* ranch until about 2007 or so when they changed it out for some gross shit, and then sometime after sold the peel top cups which aren't much better. I miss that ranch so damn much. Better than Jet's or Wing Stop tbh, and those are excellent.

Also, McDonald's Arch Deluxe from way back with the peppercorns on it.

Keep in mind it was about that long ago that the Dems and Reps started switching places on a lot of issues, and those justices could've been in place for who knows how many years. In 1973 a Republican SC justice would almost certainly have been a liberal.

It's bewildering to me how many people didn't know about the Dixiecrats and the party swap that happened. The GOP sure likes to talk about their party's grand history, but never seem to mention that they weren't a conservative party until the mid-20th century.

Also, Democrats could've and should've and promised to codify abortion rights into law during Obama's first term, but he decided not to do it so as not to upset some anti-abortion members of the party. Can't give up that crucial campaign issue by permanently solving it, can we? Think of the fundraising that occurs, and will occur especially now, when abortion rights are at stake. No politician wants to lose those dollars.

We'll see this game in March 2023.

The more I see of Overwatch 2 the less excited for it I become. I'm a big fan of Overwatch because of the tight team gameplay and complimentary styles. Turning it into a more freestyle shooter doesn't appeal to me as much. We have scores of shooter games already, and Overwatch was unique because it emphasized teams playing their roles well. I still plan on playing it, and hope to join the beta sooner rather than later, but my preliminary expectations are that I won't like it quite the same way I do the original.

Mondo drink, then Mondo form the Wizard Level in Nick Arcade. No idea about the others except that I've always wanted to play SaGa Frontier.

Sekiro is the hardest in terms of actual difficulty. Dark Souls 2 is hardest because of its awful hit boxes and artificial difficulty.

I'm glad to be back in Michigan. I don't think too many people would say it's the best state, but it is maybe among the most underrated. It's got cities worth visiting all over the state from Detroit (obviously), Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Saginaw, etc. but we've also got a boatload of nature to check out. The Great Lakes are one thing, but the woodlands in the heart of the mitten and of the Upper Peninsula, and even the porcupine mountains. The weather isn't anything special, but you really get a taste of every season.

I'm probably opining a bit much about Michigan because I just came back here after living three years in Ohio. It sucked. I hated most every minute there. Now that I'm back, and in one of the most highly regarded cities in America no less, I'm thrilled.

I've had a C9 for about two years now, and it's hands-down the best TV I've ever seen in person. Going back to my parents' place and watching their Samsung LED I immediately notice the difference, and every non-OLED screen is unimpressive now. Burn in becomes less and less of an issue with each passing year's model, it seems. I've never witnessed it myself, and I use my C9 as a PC monitor as well as my main TV. Maybe I'll regret this one day, but so far I haven't had any such issue.

If you care about any above-60fps capabilities, you'll be a bit disappointed in the A series, but aside from that it'll easily be the best TV you've ever laid eyes on.

This has made my day. I'm glad to see them release some new content. These guys could still be huge as ever if they kept cranking out content imo.
