Personally, Trump had a lot of flaws, there is no argument from me there. I voted for Cruz in the primary in 2016 because I thought Trump would be too liberal and was a Democrat in disguise.

I voted for him in 2016 because I didn't want a left wing Supreme Court for the next 10-20 years. In that regard Trump was phenomenal. The tax cuts were great and the Trump economy up until Covid was the best in the history of this country. Trump's foreign policy was also very successful. The same countries who laughed in Trump's face about Russian oil are now looking at a dark, dark winter... And mideast was in better shape after 4 years of his presidency.

I also defend Trump in these regards - the Dems first impeachment was a sham imo, and Russian collusion hoax was engineered by Hillary Clinton.

But clearly there were things that could have and should have been done differently in the last year of his presidency with Covid, riots, etc.

That's the main reason I am on board with new blood in 2024. I think DeSantis provides the best blend of policy, personality, and effectiveness moving forward.

That speech was the ugliest speech by a POTUS in my lifetime. The man lumped pro 2A and prolife voters in with Jan 6 rioters. Completely sad, and more divisive than anything Trump said in 4 years.

Why do I support DeSantis?

In a nutshell, becuase he has been the most effective manager of the most successful state in the nation on a variety of economic metrics using Conservative economic solutions.

He is articulate and, unlike Trump, isn't an idiot. Trump is an idiot and I hope he doesn't get our nomination again but I unfortunately assume that is likely.

DeSantis also has done well in calling out lunacy on other issues, but going into specifics on this board would almost certainly get me suspended again, so I'll leave it at that.

I haven't played Half Life Alyx but I find it interesting they would put it above the original Half Life. And while maybe unpopular, I enjoyed Half Life 2 over the first one.

I would also have added Goldeneye 007. Probably the best console FPS until Halo came out and had a great campaign as well.

It's amazing what fentanyl is doing to our population. One of my coworkers lost his son a couple years ago to a laced fentanyl OD, and I have a distant cousin that ODed and almost died.

Biden may be a nice guy (that is debatable) but he is definitely mentally sliding much worse than Trump is.

Watch a Trump speech from 5 years ago and a Biden speech from 5 years ago and compare that to today. Biden's decline is much worse. That said we need a youth movement in 2024, and Ron DeSantis is the one suited for the job.

Right now, yes - Biden at the very least has had a bottom 5 start to his presidency. Things can certainly change but I don't think that is happening - Biden seems inflexible.

If we end up in a recession before the mid terms he'll have to do a lot to avoid being a bottom 5 president all time. But having a GOP majority in the House his last 2 years might force him to moderate some, which will help him and the country.

They are the best bet for America in 2024 IMO. Biden has failed on both Foreign and domestic policy, and Democrat policies in general are not good for America IMO - they focus far too much on expanding government rather than limiting it.

DeSantis would be 10x better than Trump would be (reminder - Trump only lost by around 100k votes in 2020 in the swing states that matter, he could easily win in 2024 if he is nominee).

Tim Scott is articulate, intelligent, and empathetic. I'd actually be cool with him as nominee. I think he would be a great foil to DeSantis's personality.

DeSantis is smart and calculated. DeSantis would be a much more effective administrator, as he has proved in Florida. And everyone here knows that DeSantis as the nominee might be able to carry 35-40 states in 2024 if Biden's polls continue to drop and the country keeps going down this path.

Trump winning is no sure thing if he is nominee even if Biden is polling in the 30s by then, he already lost once and half the country hates him on a moral/personal level.

So basically, I'm in on DeSantis because he is intelligent, effective, and has a much better chance to win in 2024.
