I saw that game a while back in my Steam recommendations, how is it?
I highly recommend it. It just had the whole package for me: really good customization, combat, exploration, and music. If you like rpgs with a non heavy focus on story like Etrian Odyssey or so you'll prob enjoy it more

The exploration/platforming is a big part of the game, although the platforming does not emphasize difficulty at all, so you wont be timing your jumps to moving platforms or anything like that. Its one of those games where if theres a tile, at some point in the game you will for sure be able to get there.

You have a bunch of job classes in the game, and the ability to subclass any of em. The game uses different resources for abilities (AP, MP, Items or Cooldowns) and somehow manages to make it work so theres a lot to consider when choosing a subclass and not just a simple obvious best choice like lots of other games with subclassing.
And then there's the incrediby varied equipment that gives you even more options.

The creator describes it as a metroidvania and thats probably true, but its really cool how the world and progression is designed. If you dont find the platforming appealing before the 2 hours are up, then you probably wont like the game as ive seen in some steam topics.

But yeah the platforming is really only used to add to the exploration so isnt difficult, and the hardest platforming in the game was tied to a minigame that got patched so you can skip it.

Yes, an rpg called Crystal Project that came out end of March. Dedicated all my free time to it. Probably my game of the year so far too.

Yeah I'll admit preordering might have been dumb, but I figure at worst it'll just be a typical visual novel with digimon.

Bandai's anti-spoiler marketing got me. I wanna know what happens in Chapter 5 that is apparently so huge that the company is asking fans not to spoil it. >_>
I just saw that today. From what I gather there are people already playing and streaming, so watch out for spoilers.

I'm getting it on switch since I've never had a Digimon game and it seems like it isn't using any mechanics that would anger me to play around.
I highly recommend the original Digimon World if you can play it somewhere.

Digimon World is one of my favorite games of all times
Same here. I know Re Digitize and Next Order are styled the same way, but i only played Next Order and it just didnt feel the same to me.

I feel like he just got more boring as the series went on.

Creator probably would have replaced him for one of the Soul Society dudes like the rest of his friends if he weren't the main character.

This will determine whether I get the game or not tbh. I liked 1 but dropped 2 and have no plans to ever finish it, so if this one is dependent on 2 in any way then...

Roguelike
Battle Royale

If you replaced roguelike with rougelite then it would have been an easier choice since there are lots of roguelikes I enjoy like Cataclysm DDA that dont deserve to be lumped in with the current trend, but ill still vote it for the greater good

I wonder if they just originally wanted to make a visual novel

Maybe Digimon Survive will turn out the same as this game whenever it keeps out.

People say it's politics, but I think that's just some people wanting it to be for that reason instead of a real reason for why they're failing. From my personal experience, at least on the internet, for as long as I can remember I have never seen comics as big of a deal compared to manga/anime.

This site for example as had whole boards dedicated to specific anime (Naruto, etc.) while comics as a whole just get a single board. And the comics board (which they talk about all things related to comics whether it be movies or shows or whatever) judging from the number of topics has half as the single board dedicated to anime/manga which does the same.

And just from my personal experience on the internet, multiple sites I've been on have been like this where chapters of certain manga will have whole discussions while comic books come up once in a blue moon.

I really feel like it just has to do manga to anime pipeline being way more effective than comics are as a whole to generating hype/discussion/interest, along with nerd culture now being mainstream. When things like Invincible show up they can knock it out of the park, but for every 1 Invincible, you would have already had 50 episodes of Attack on Titan and other series for people to go crazy about.

Then there's the fact that manga just cover a whole lot more than comics do, as well as more creativity from a crazy variety of artists as compared to comics where you're invisible unless you're DC/Marvel. And unlike DC/Marvel, manga are in magazines where editors and artists work together to make sure the work appeals to the targeted demographic as much as possible.
