They give it to you like it's some kind of prize or reward, when realistically, like another user ITT said, most people end up working through lunch because it's easier and/or due to pressure. Sure you can say "sorry I'm on lunch" from 12-1, but it's pretty hard to do when the person who decides your employment status is asking you for something. It's called boundaries.
