Well the meds are not available through legal channels. My wife also does not want to commit suicide? Like, this IS sort of a form of suicide but it isn't. It is a legal thing and justified by medical professionals.
Yeah, I get it. There are some lines we are not willing to cross. And I am definitely anti-suicide in 99% of cases, but I get the nuance with her situation.

Is your own health journey still going well? I know you have cut down a lot of weight.

I think the slow process of all this happening and my wife being able to choose how she leaves this life will make a difference. I know this is what she wants, how she wants it, and is in the frame of mind to make those decisions. From the sounds of it you literally get the same meds you get if you are going under for surgery, and then when you are under the gas you get meds to stop your heart. Literally you just go to sleep and that is it.

I say all those before it happens. I could very easily see myself just being a wreck.
Hey man, I have been following all of this and really respect your support and empathize with what you are going through. Sounds really rough, and you are such a good dude.

I have a question that may be considered inconsiderate but it is from lack of knowledge (and maybe it has been answered already). What would happen if she simply took too much medication on her own? Is this not an option for insurance reasons or religious reasons or...? I only ask this because of posts like the below, where the "assistance" just seems to be almost unnecessary.

Yeah, I eventually realized that. It seemed you were backing up someone who DID say that.

And yes, there is reasonable doubt. She clearly wasn't in a good place. She might even think she was being honest but it was in her head. This stuff happens, as I dated someone like that.

Edit: I won't say you implied that, if you don't act like this is a sexism thing for me. That's BS.

Why do some of you try so hard to doubt the words of a suicide victim that you know nothing about? You don't know her partner either so why are you so set on saying her words are lies? Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems pretty shitty that this is what people focus on. Even if it was a lie, who cares? She felt enough pain to kill herself and didn't get proper support and comfort while in that state, and that should be the main takeaway of this. It has me wondering if people would be doing this if the roles were reversed.
In answer to this, it isn't that I assume she is lying. I don't. But others were assuming she must be telling the truth and that it is therefore on his head. I assume nothing at all. No idea what he said or didn't say. And I agree with your main takeaway. I was only arguing against those deadset on making this into a blame game when we know nothing.

I would 100% feel the same if the gender roles were reversed. This is about NOT making assumptions and placing blame.

Also big-brained clown takes like this, people blaming the victim for killing herself because she's a woman. Are you guys sure her gender has nothing to do with this?
That poster is always pretty terrible.

Because she is in a bad state of mind and is either trying to get revenge by lying or she thinks he said it when he didn't. People fabricate unspoken things in their head with mental duress.

Also, "she said" is not considered evidence.

There is a good chance he said it, but it's not fact. Why are you so insistent? And don't push back that we are insistent because we aren't saying he necessarily didn't say it.

Wrong.

My mom and step-dad both got it fully vaccinated and boosted, and my mom still ended up in the hospital.

I have never had a sniffle and never tested positive.

They do work at preventing infection. Just not for everyone.
Anecdotal.

Tons of fully vaccinated and boosted people got the Omicron variant. It is thought to lessen the chance of getting it maybe a little, but the real benefit of the vaccine has been preventing hospitalizations for the vast majority. Now if you do back to the nasty Delta variant, the vaccines did help a LOT with stopping the spread.

Hopefully the brand new booster will be more effective at stopping the spread of the current variants, at least until a new variant screws everything up. However, I am worried that most won't even get the booster at this point (I did yesterday).

Regardless, the vaccines are effective whether in terms of stopping spread or lessening symptoms.

You'll generally only find three types if people who can simply not give a fuck, at least in my opinion.

1: Egostical jerks who portray themselves as super nice.

2: Sociopaths.

3: People who have been through hell, and have become numb to it.

I fall into the 3red category. I went through so much stuff as a kid with horrible family things going on, I just eventually stopped caring. Damaged goods.
True if you mean truly not giving a fuck, but I took the topic more as in people who don't overly worry about what others are thinking when you are simply existing. You know, most people.
