The Didact is awesome. The writing surrounding his return not so much. The Forerunner Saga books are interesting though and tell you a bit more about him, but they're kinda difficult reads.

Reach has a fun campaign. Too bad the multiplayer isn't relevant anymore, I think I spent more time on that one than any other. Some neat weapons and silly but fun gamemodes.

a couple things: chinese characters to english word count, you should half the chinese characters.

1000 chinese characters =~ 500 english words. most words are 2-3 characters, even if grammatical words are mostly 1 (or 2) characters.

Publishers use 250 words to a page. A printed book can have as many as 1000 words on a page, easily.

If you read the op, it says the bible IN STANDARD FONT would be about 1200 pages. that's what they mean, i.e. the bible and lord of the rings are about the same length in words.

A quick google search says the bible has around 780k words and the entirety of LotR including The Hobbit has 576k words.

That's a full-blown slum like you'd see in a run down section of India or some third world country. It's embarassing for the supposed best nation in the world to have any of these and if our lawmakers/politicians/billionaires had any real American pride they'd do something about it.

But there's a part of me that thinks it's kinda cool how resourceful these people are to be able to at least have something to live in. Reminds me of building pillow forts as a kid.

As someone who last watched new Dragonball with GT, what are the reasons that Super is good and GT is bad.

Neither is particularly good. GT started out as too much of a nostalgia act but I thought after a while it found its footing and the final arc was a decent wrap-up to the series.

Super feels like content for the sake of content that jumped the shark almost immediately. The tournament of power is the only decent thing I remember from it.

Dragonball has been on a steep decline since the Buu saga. There really aren't any new ideas, and there are no stakes since everyone just comes back from the dead all the time. It's just heroes and villains trading powerups until Goku finally wins.

Nah it's separate from Gravemind. High Charity is horribly dark but I loved the atmosphere. Very spooky, especially the music.

I feel like I remember most of the Halo 2 levels being way harder on legendary than on heroic. Also Halo 2 was my fav game in the series. The story really ramps up right at the end of Quarantine Zone.

In all honesty, the biggest mistake Disney made was trying to do a 30-years-later sequel instead of one set 100 years in the future. If we had Rey, Finn, Rose, and Poe without the deliberate misuses of Luke and Han, Disney Star Wars would have been fine.

It wasn't an oversight that Luke and Han didn't get any scenes together. They weren't trying to bring back the old days. They were trying to usher the old guard out the door so that they could make a new generation the focus. They should have cut out the middle man and set the series so far into the future that they'd never have to account for what happened to Luke, Han, and Leia.

I have been saying this for years, but mostly with the benefit of hindsight. Back in 2014 I was completely convinced that bringing back the OT characters for one final run and to help build up the future was the right call, and the ages of the actors aligned perfectly with a trilogy set ~30 years in the future. On top of all that I never expected Disney would pass up such a massive opportunity to put Luke, Han, and Leia on the screen while they still could and I don't think many Star Wars fans did either. It would have been a big blunder to not do so and would have enraged fans I think.

I don't think anyone could have seen the absolute burial job they all got coming.

I think most cat experts recommend keeping them inside anyway. Dunno where that one goober is getting this 'need to roam' thing from but my cat sleeps most of the day and seems perfectly content to sit on my for the rest of the time.

The idea of suburban cats destabilizing ecosystems is funny though. Perhaps it is the suburb itself that has already destroyed the ecosystem that should be more to blame.

Resurrections felt like the most pointless movie ever made. Like it was a truly pointless reboot in a way that even other bad reboots like Jurassic World weren't. At least with JW there were some potentially interesting ideas that could be done with a dino amusement park that actually gets off the ground. There wasn't a single interesting idea presented in Resurrections.
