How often do hurricanes have enough energy to keep going after they cross Florida? I'd kind of assumed that was pretty rare, but I realize I don't actually know at all.

It didn't manage to regain hurricane strength, but Ivan plowed through multiple states before went back to sea, said hello to Florida, and then regained enough strength to become a tropical storm before managing to make US landfall a third time. Post-tropical storms reforming is rare, but to do it after carving through the US is even more impressive.

I wasn't exactly on the up-and-up of Stadia in particular, but I thought the concept of Cloud gaming was going to be relentlessly pursued at this point. We're pretty much already there with games being mostly digital format, publishers pushing and relying on more subscription services for games, forced online connections and mtx's becoming more and more common.

You really shouldn't be. Google has a terrible reputation that they've built up for killing most of their products. And as cloud gaming is useless when the servers are shut down, most people were unwilling to buy games on a service that they expected to be shut down. And since no one was buying anything Google shut it down. Google was probably about the worst choice of companies to try such a thing.

Haptic feedback is one of the first things I disable in a phone. It's useless and annoying.

I'm not as aware of the history of it, but it's essentially the same approach so I'd imagine I'd feel similarly.

It didn't help that when the Dragster was first opened you had 4-8+ hr waits (it constantly broke down) for a sub minute ride where you just get thrust up a hill, go down a hill, and then go that was all? Speed is fun and all, but I'd prefer a longer ride where the track does more than just one quick gimmick.

No big loss. That ride was perpetually broke (at least the first few years, iunno how much they improved down the line) and had various incidents over the years, and was largely a gimmick that wasn't worth the wait.

Anythingm more than a cool commemorative sort of thing means you're effectively punishing people for not buying the game sooner, and that's just scummy and manipulative.

Or you're rewarding long term players for their support. Complaining everyone should have access to everything is just a form of entitlement. If anything I'm more bothered by companies that promised something is a one time limited item and then after newer players complain they go ahead and mass re-release it.

I do frown on it if it's more than cosmetics and actually effects gameplay in a meaningful way, particularly if there's some form of pvp in the game.

As mediocre as the source material is at best for the majority of the comic, Garfield probably has some of the best user created material.

It's not. Ohio just had a trigger law so they could ban abortion right away. Indiana is chomping at the bit to pass their own law and should have abortion banned in short order. But thanks to the demographics of Ohio, it's likely shifted to a reliably red state and essentially turned into another Indiana.

Because it's good? I had a delicious potato, roasted tomatoes and peppers, bacon and egg pizza.

Also having a delicious mashed potato and hot sauce pizza.

The biggest issue with pineapple is that canned pineapple tastes like ass. And since everyone uses canned, you're not going to get a good version unless you make your own.

It can be okay in the right setting, but honestly the worst item on this list is pepperoni.

It's not likely an issue if you're not eating a large amount of them, but eating a large amount raw could make you sick. The seeds in particular is where most of the glycosides reside, and the amount decreases with the ripeness of the berry, so it's also better to avoid less ripe ones.

Well port isn't a regular wine, but rather a fortified wine. So if you normally prefer harder liquor it's no surprise you'd favor fortified wine. Have you tried any other fortified wines (Madeira/Marsala/sherry/vermouth/etc)?

There is a false equivalency here. Namely that the suffering of an animal is inherently equal to the suffering of a human. While it's true most people want animals treated at least somewhat humanely, the fact is we're discussing non-sentient beings reared specifically for food in a world in which omnivores and carnivores are not exactly 'rare' (and almost entirely more painful in their kills than humans). These animals are not even considered to be companions to humans. So while I can understand someone being outraged at the slaughter of, say, a dog because dogs are considered to be human pets which people often form close bonds to, occasionally reaching the same level as a bond with a human, this doesn't hold true for a cow or chicken.

Pigs and chickens can be and are sometimes kept as pets. Cows are revered in India. Animal sentience is recognized in various areas and suggested to varying degrees in scientific research depending on the animal in question.

If you don't care, you don't care. Just say you don't care. But arguing "the Holocaust didn't matter because I don't care" is a poor argument, and at that point you're being as bad as the vocal vegans you're bitching about.

Depends on where in a time zone you live. If you live on the left edge of a time zone, where you functionally should be in the next time zone over, it makes more sense to drop it permanently rather than making DST permanent.

The underlying engine is good as far as I'm aware, but they keep redesigning the interface and stripping out random things because not enough people use said item and it makes the browser too confusing to use. It's annoying having to go to about:config and reenable random things because they decided to go the apple/google/microsoft route of people are idiots so we have to force them to use the software the way we think it should be used.

Meh, it's essentially just Chrome with privacy extensions built into it. Combine that with a few controversies in the past due to questionable development decisions, and even though devs keep screwing up Firefox, it still can do stuff that I want that Brave doesn't.

Maybe hot cereal, but generally not cold. As a concept, soup entails cooking ingredients together to blend their flavours. You can have cold soups, but that's not just dumping veggies and water in a bowl, that's simmering them together then chilling it before serving.

Gazpacho exists along with other non cooked soups.

The problem you're solving there is the "not burning to death" problem. A problem you can't really solve by staying inside your house until smoke inhalation and fire give up and go away on their own because you've wowed them with sheer determination and personal initiative.

Sure, running away isn't going to solve the problem of your house and possession burning down, but staying there isn't going to solve that problem either. Unless you consider being dead a viable solution. Because if you burn to death you probably no longer care about whether or not your house and possessions are safe or not, which is technically a solution.

While you might of been able to put out the fire with the fire extinguisher, you decided to just run away. Sure your 2 year old daughter burned to death because you just ran away and left her behind. And sure you just lost all of your possessions. And sure you died from hypothermia after running a away for a few hours in the freezing cold. But hey, ever since growing up as a child your only worry in life was not burning to death, so you solved your problem.
