Tinder is just the female version of Bumble. The only difference is that in US culture, the man is expected to initiate the conversation so it's implicit rather than explicit. It's basically required for the man to start the conversation though so when I say 'implicit', that still really doesn't leave much room for any sort of creative / psychologically free engagement.

My first thought as I see the video is, wow, Chris was so damn professional!. He took that punch like a champ. Was will Smith drunk? Imagine loosing your shit over a G. I. Jane joke. Secondly, why are people calling that a slap? Either that was a pretty meaty right hook, or some mighty fine sound effect work that make the foley artists on the old Walker Texas Ranger show look like a bunch of rank amateurs.

Tbh I thought it was more of a Wolverine style slash attack.

Another thing is that I really see the potential for art to inspire people. And that's sort of the point of art. That's one of the points anyway. So I can view this from another perspective and see a possibility in which some movies could be made that just aren't made because of the current cultural stance that actually would have such a powerful inspirational component that it might be better to have had that movie exist rather than a handful of woke movies.

I tried watching the first few minutes and literally every sentence is wrong. It would take way more time than even my stupid ass could tolerate to list every way this video is a crock of shit, but some highlights

-Tries painting censorship of art on grounds of offending people as something new. Anybody who has any awareness of books knows that theyve been censored, banned, edited, prefaced, every which way to serve every possible political agenda at this point. Huckleberry Finn gets censored because of the n-word. Picture of Dorian Gray was...well, it was the Picture of Dorian Gray.

-Makes the assumption that wokeness is unprofitable without any sources. Very tellingly, he never defines wokeness. Is Black Panther woke? Is Avatar woke? Without setting a metric, it allows him to point to anything as an example of his point, while dismissing any counter-claim as invalid.

-Makes the claim that fans used to be divided over less serious things, like Kirk vs Picard. Anybody who actually lived through these decades knows for a fact that fan divisions and rivalries could be just as toxic and vitriolic as they are now. Nintendo vs Sega. Marvel vs DC. Professional wrestling.

-Again, quite nefariously, he makes it a point that wokeness is dividing fanbases from the perspective of inserting woke values is the problem, but is very silent about reactions to those values. No matter how shitty The Last Jedi was, for example, it doesnt excuse harassing Kelly Marie Tran. But the toxicity of anti woke audience is swept under the rug.

And just from a general overview, he makes the claim that Hollywood wants to subvert our values without saying who in Hollywood is doing this or even what our values are that theyre supposed to be subverting.

By making these sinister claims but not explaining what they actually mean, he allows his audience to fill in the blanks with their own imagination, in the same way that fraudulent psychics will make vague claims about your life and let you fill in the details. He doesnt need support his argument, he lets the viewer do that for him and creates a feedback loop where the viewer is both generating meaning into the vague claims and then agreeing with themselves.

I don't think he's trying to write a dissertation (or anything serious like that which needs sources). It's more of a social thing so that he can make money and read others' thoughts on it.

I am totally for basically all of the woke agenda coming to fruition, but I don't like the strategy. Every artist has some agenda...something they want to say in music or teach through story. I think people have sort of become clustered into certain camps and are unable to think though. I like women and minorities in my movies, but if there's anything I care about most, it's art.

Most people here don't. They don't know what it's like to want to succeed in music so much that you stare at a piano keyboard in your room for 2 years before you finally decide to practice rigorously because you're afraid that you'll fail. They don't have any art-related dreams at all. They just want to get their quick fix escapes as anyone does. But they don't actually understand the journey of bettering yourself in a craft and having dreams big enough to seem crazy. So, when I say that wokeness is destroying art, I simply mean that making casting choices by prioritizing superficial physical characteristics over story, character, and acting chops, or putting out rehashes to milk a franchise (not wokeness, but another concern) are just not good for art.

There are some artists who just want to make money. Any REAL artist who prioritizes the art, the message in the art, its novelty, and ability to bring joy to people can see how this is a problem...

To properly convey that sentiment...you should be saying "Water puts out some fires, but it makes others worse."

That is a more complete way of expressing it.

I think a more complete way is to say that, "Some amounts of water put out some fires, but those amounts can makes others worse. Sometimes it can actually make some fires EVEN WORSE than the previously mentioned situations."

I don't want characters in my games that are simple. We know that water makes grass grow and that water puts out fires, etc. The whole elemental theme is sort of lame and childish. I want to have characters that represent concepts or emotions or specific drives. It would be cool to see type match ups like there are in Pokemon in RPGs that aren't based on shit we learned when we were 5.

I would say the two points this guy has made most in the videos I've seen are that movies and TV are getting less creative / original in general, and that the new installments of the popular movie franchises are never as good as the originals (Star Wars, the most recent Indiana Jones, etc.). I would say the one franchise that contradicts that point is the Dark Knight trilogy and the Joker movie. I wasn't so impressed with The Batman.

Much of the video is conjecture, but if I had to come up with my own hypothesis that's on the brighter side of things, I would say that basically moderates and leftists have to suffer woke art for the sake of a lot of the white rural folks who see 10 people a year and never leave their small town. Because of people like this, this kind of media must be made to make a cultural transition so that we can pursue bigger and better things. So woke art is watered down for me, but for rural people who probably don't get involved in art as much, it could be the best thing they've ever seen if they could successfully convert themselves out of racism, etc.

But the importance in the video communicates what just happened. Immediately, because I shared this video I was outed as some kind of idiot because that's just how divided we have become. And I think the video does a good job talking about that.
