For healthy heart and arteries, it's important to avoid:
1.) High cholesterol
2.) High blood pressure
3.) Smoking

I'd argue that smoking is the most dangerous one since it's the only one where you also actively put others around you in danger (iow super dick move). But of course it's not food lol

In terms of food, I agree with this
TotACon posted...
If you want a healthy heart and arteries, it's extremely idiotic to try to pinpoint which one is worst as a combination of any of those or just a single one in excess can lead to very unhealthy arteries and/or heart.

Just use Tor Browser, otherwise a VPN will do but make sure to configure your browser properly. Tor Browser comes pre-configured.

Personally I use whitelist (default-deny) approach on my local DNS/firewall. Couple that with a hardened browser and presto... For comparison, using adblocker (blocklist/default-allow) stopped ~50% of my connection attempts. Using whitelist stopped >90%

It's a major pain to set up though and theoritically it also increases my fingerprint

However if you were talking purely about luxury watches then the correct answer would be Patek Philippe. This is the brand sold at the auction for the truly rich. A mere pleb like us won't even know this brand exists lol

Iirc Omega also counts as luxury watch but a tier below Rolex. Omega < Rolex < Patek Philippe.

Don't stress it, just enjoy the game :D You'll automatically rank up/down as needed so the game can pair you with an opponent of your skill level. What's the definition of "average" in fighting game anyway?

If it's "group with most player" then you could argue that the starting floor 5 is average depending on its population. If it's "good grasp of overall game mechanic" then you could argue that it would be anyone who exclusively use random character and have at least 50% win ratio regardless of floor.

Wait a minute... it doesn't work like that. Ethanol (ex: Vodka) and methanol (ex: antifreeze/windshield liquid) doesn't exactly cancel each other out. Don't try this anyone!

This is how it goes. When you drink methanol, your body (liver to be exact) will metabolize it into unpleasant and toxic stuff that could kill you. However if you drink ethanol during this time period, it will monopolize your liver instead and kick that bloody methanol out of the way. So the methanol will pass through unprocessed and your kidney will handle the rest. BUT your body will still have that ethanol to deal with. So you trade methanol (lethal) for ethanol (survivable) here.

The above post basically got it backwards :)

This is the ceiling I mentioned before. Once they decide to stop toying with you, they go close range. Iow, you have to learn how to fight them back without yo-yos.

1.) Have you tried other characters? Some might suit you better.
2.) Instead of relying 100% on your special/super moves, I'd suggest to learn your normal moves first (you know... standing kick, crouching punch, hop kick, etc). They are boring yes, but they are also your fastest and safest moves and you're going to need them during close range.

In a nutshell:
Pick a char. Pick a short and easy combo (say, crouching kick -> fireball). Play against AI using only your normal moves and said combo, no spamming special/super unless it's part of your combo. Make sure your attacks connect all the time (blocked by AI is fine but a whiff is a no no). Just keep at it and once you can reliably beat the AI, you should stand a better chance during close range.

The best option to take can't be determined objectively without Charlie following some sort of known algorithm in his decisions, though.
the_rowan posted...
We know Charlie removed exactly one ball of his own color. However, we have literally no objective information about the remaining ball in the bag; without having criteria for Charlie's behavior, it's just a battle of psychology, outside the realm of logic.
Very good observation!

We have to find out if Charlie actually followed some kind of pattern first. The puzzle actually answers this although the clue is a bit subtle. Here's the answer (SUPER MAJOR SPOILER):

the_rowan correctly stated that "without having criteria for Charlie's behavior, it's just a battle of psychology, outside the realm of logic". Very true! And the exact same thing happened to Charlie.

Charlie himself didn't have a single clue about you. You never even once revealed your thought process to him. From Charlie's PoV he observed nothing but random actions. Picking 9 balls while blindfolded, writing 3 color behind his back, and removing 3 balls without looking inside the bag; all done randomly. If say his opponent had picked the bet at the beginning, then he might've been able to do something.

Also the puzzle reminded the audience that they had seen a single action from him but what about him? "I know this about Charlie but what does he know about me?" Nothing.

What would Charlie do against an opponent he knew nothing about? He would relied on logic. Too much uncertainty to engage in a psychological battle. And he obviously wouldn't act at random otherwise why the puzzle

1.) Charlie saw the 3 remaining balls.
2.) He chose an action that would give him the best probability assuming you would act randomly.
3.) That's it.

the_rowan posted...
Option 2 is irrelevant because it's not legal. We can use it to make guesses about Charlie's psychology in choosing to leave his own color in the bag or not, but that's really outside the realm of logic.
Correct. Option 2 is irrelevant. It's also not about psychology. However it has a purpose, I'm currently debating myself whether I should reveal it or not.

the_rowan posted...
...various probability calculation ending in 50:50...
I can't verify the probability (obviously ) but let me just say that you haven't uncovered all the info yet. Don't forget, Charlie followed a pattern although probably unknown to you at this time. The end result is not 50:50, you can trust me on this.

Took me a while to write but here's another. Charlie is terrifying here imho. No foul play, no out-of-the-box, pure logic.

================================
Are You Smarter than Charlie Puzzle Series,
HARDCORE Edition
================================

You meet Charlie in his backyard bringing $1M along with a pen, paper and envelopes.

He gives you the wager. It's a multiple choice and it describes the procedure (note: the wager is below, at the end of the puzzle).

1.) You pick 9 balls randomly from his truck and put them into a bag, blindfolded. The truck carries a ton of perfectly mixed RED/GREEN/BLUE balls, 1:1:1 ratio, truly random distribution. Nobody ever looks inside the bag.

2.) You write the color (RED/GREEN/BLUE) and put them into 3 different envelopes using your stationery, all behind his back. You pick one envelope at random and he picks one at random from the remaining two. Both of you open their envelopes and you see "RED". The third envelope remains sealed.
note from the author: I know CE might think the answer is marking the envelopes and cheating since they're yours but be assured that it won't matter to Charlie. Plus no foul play in this puzzle.

3.) Remember the 9 balls in a bag? You remove 6 from the bag in front of him without looking inside. 3 GREEN + 3 BLUE are out. Then he can look inside the bag and remove either 1 or 2 balls. He removes another GREEN and another BLUE. 4 GREEN + 4 BLUE are removed. 1 remains for the wager

================================
Now you can choose the bet:
(note: just in case, "I" means "Charlie" here)

1.) If one ball remains I bet $1M that you cannot guess its color correctly. If you like you can pick my envelope or the third sealed envelope as your guess instead. OR

2.) If two balls remain I bet $1M that you cannot guess their color correctly. If you like you can choose to guess one color that's not in the bag instead. OR

3.) I bet $1M that at least one remaining ball will match your color. If you like you can choose to use the third sealed envelope as your color instead. OR

4.) I bet $1M that at least one remaining ball won't match your color(s) at all. If you like you can also have my envelope so you'll have two different color for this.
================================

You realize that Charlie did exactly one thing, removing 1 GREEN and 1 BLUE, that's all. Everything else is random, even the wager itself is a multiple choice within a freaking multiple choice. Surely Charlie can't anticipate them all?!

QUESTION: Take the bet or not? If yes, which one? Why?

the "improved" version measures up to 242, which is twice as much... it's sort of a pain to actually use though since many objects will require multiple weighings. it's a bit more efficient because it takes advantage of the fact that you don't need to actually be ablle to equal every number, just be able to confirm it isn't anything else.

Oh my god, I'm sorry. Please accept my apology. So you were trying to tell me about the improved version. I genuinely thought you were making a guess by doubling the weight "beginner style" and so I suggested to start at 1 then made that 2^n sequence to illustrate. Really sorry, honest mistake here.

I didn't use the improved version for my puzzle because I mainly wanted the audience to discover the substraction trick.

Let's talk a bit about the improved version. You're correct in that it will require basically some degree of trial and error approach. But as you see yourself what we need is not a better trial and error but instead a scalable trial and error. If we can devise one, we can feed it into a computer to solve it Tower-of-Hanoi style through repetition.

This is what I'd do. It's a partition layer. First we set a goal. Let's say we want to weigh from 1 to 1million. Next we create the layer. Here's the general idea:

1.) Let's say we have a single 500K weight. With this we basically have 2 partitions with 0/500K/1M markers (1-499K partition and 501K-1M partition). Iow 2 partitions/weight.

2.) Now what if we have two weight, 100K and 300K? In this case we have 0/100K/200K/300K/400K/1M markers and 5 partitions. Iow 2.5 partitions/weight. This is even better.

3.) And so you trial and error through the first layer. However you'll hit a diminishing return along the way. Here's the proof. Let say we have every even number as weight. In that case we have 500K number of weights and 500K partition each containing a single odd number. Iow 1 partition/weight, much lower than 2 partition with 500K weight. So once we hit an undesirable partition/weight ratio, we'll move to the second layer.

4.) The second layer works the same, however you have to calculate second layer markers from both trial+error AND first layer fixed markers. Rinse and repeat.

5.) Now let's assume we have small enough partitions. We starts to encounter redundant markers and such. What do we do? Instead of delving further into the layer, we are going to work on (-1M - 0) and (1M - 2M) range instead! They already have tons of markers from our earlier (0-1M) partitioning. And while we work on (-1M - 0) and (1M - 2M) range, we'll also get new markers for our (0-1M) partitioning.

So there you have it. A scalable brute force approach. Using a computer you can basically calculate the weights for any range you want.

Phew, that's one hell of a wall. I hope this helps
