It's lowers the maximum. The maximum is currently 40 years for carjacking, for example. Almost NOBODY gets 40 years for carjacking. The new maximum would be 24 years, which is still a LONG time. But no, we have to act like this is being 'soft on crime' when it's trying to create fairer standards.

People generally will support trans-rights in the vague. But ask them to actually NOT vote for someone who wants to actively harm them? That's a step too far.

I cannot see the perspective of someone making it a point of pride to play Hogwarts Legacy. That's just weird as hell.

Except nobody is claiming the reviews are biased because J.K. Rowling is a TERF. They're saying the reviews are biased because the text doesn't match the score.

They have tried. Mostly by blaming minorities. With racism becoming less socially acceptable (especially in the digital age where we have in our pockets devices with more computing power than Nasa during the moon landing) they've turned to cultural issues like trans-rights in hopes of getting them angry at something. For some it works, but overall it's not been very successful. Largely thanks to the speed of information and the fact most people's social circles now extend well beyond their own neighborhoods.

Not only is the brand toxic because they're all literal traitors, but getting more conservative as you age depends on having capital that you want to protect. Look at corrik, he's a prime example of someone who doesn't have much (relatively) but is obsessed with making sure he keeps it.

The cycle so far has been:

1. Create programs to help people
2. People gain capital thanks to those programs
3. People want to protect that capital
4. Since they're where they want to be, they see those programs as no longer necessary
5. So they vote to cut those programs in favor of tax cuts to further benefit themselvse

Only, most Millennials and beyond haven't reached step 2 yet because Republicans have long been on step 4 and 5 and done nothing to address rising college debt, healthcare or any of the other issues we face today.

Combine that with the fact that they can no longer rely on the next generations to inherit their parents religious beliefs and you've got a recipe for cutting off that right turn most people make when they get older.

Largely because between Hoover and Reagan (1933 - 1981) a period of 48 years:
-Democrats controlled the Presidency 66% of the time (25% was FDR alone)
-Democrats held the house 92% of the time (with only 20% of houses having at least 200 Republicans)
Democrats held the Senate 88% of the time

On the other hand since 1981 (41 years):
-A republican has been President 24 years (58% of the time)
-A republican has held the house 11 times (50% of the time)
-Republicans controlled the Senate 10 times (45% of the time)

Democrats created prosperity, which in turn created Republicans, who in turn created hardship which in turn created Democrats.
