The Southern Reach trilogy is really good, but just be forewarned that Authority is a very different book from Annihilation. Acceptance is closer to Annihilation, but still its own thing. I definitely think the whole trilogy is worth reading, but the second book loses a lot of people.

Murderbot is a really fun series and I blew through it super quick since almost all the books are very short. I think theres a new one coming out this year and Im looking forward to that.

So far Im at 6 books for the year so far and going to finish the seventh in about an hour or two (I read 121 books in 2022, 109 in 2021), but I jump around a lot between fiction and non-fiction and poetry. From literary fiction to genre fiction. From translated works to originally published in English. My to read list is over 120 books long right now and its like a hydra in that it usually only grows in number and rarely shrinks.

Helps create a fuller image of his character. Idk if it is or could be relevant from a legal standpoint, but thats not the point or why it was shared. It was for members of the general public to see the type of person he is and come to their own conclusions about him.

Im interested in it, but I dont have a PS5 and dont plan to get one anytime soon, so it will probably be at least a couple years before I play it.

They didnt do much to retain the copyright of Winnie the Pooh (only certain aspects are trademarked), and hes a pretty popular character (particularly abroad in places like Japan), so Im curious as to if theyll try with Mickey. He is their main mascot and symbol, so I could understand them fighting harder to retain Mickey. But imagine if they dont. Mickey could get way more involved in Soras adventures and way more wacky.

So far, this is easily one of if not the best video game adaptations Ive seen. They clearly respect the source material (probably helps having one of the creators helping make it) and so far any changes theyve made have been respectful and have really only improved the story. I really like the idea of the mycelium network connecting the infected.

Ive heard the creators are currently considering a three season arc for the show (one season for the first game, two for the second) and want to keep it faithful to the games to make adapting future installments easier. With the reception and views the show has been getting so far, I imagine a second season is basically all but guaranteed.

love how they dont cater to the #wokepolice and arent afraid to make non-PC jokes!! no race or sexuality is safe from ridicule! this will probably be remembered as the greatest show the Scooby canon has produced. plus, it doesnt bother trying to cater to CHILDREN with that talking mutt! This show is for ADULTS ONLY! though I hear rumors that Scrappy is going to make an appearance which is awesome! My fave character. Way better than Scooby Doobie Doo! Glad they straightened out Norbert (aka Shaggy)

anyway who else has been enjoying this show? I know the #canceculture crowd had been giving it pushback, but the creators obvs know what us real fans want!

Scooby Doo hasnt been relevant for years outside of a niche fandom, so I guess this new show got what it wanted in getting people to talk about it by manufacturing outrage from both sides of spectrum

Yeah same, especially since Id basically be paying $40 to stand in line with a bunch of children solely to touch a piece of plastic and hear a little sound effect. I have an acquaintance who bought one, and I guess it saves your coins across visits, but as far as Im aware you cant actually do anything with the coins so that seems fairly pointless. The whole thing seems like a cash grab aimed at children. If youre really into Mario and have got the money, maybe its cool to boop the boxes and feel like him for a brief moment before you have to move on and let the next people boop the box, but its not for me. I also didnt get a wand for the Harry Potter area. It seems like its kinda luck whether it will work or not, and I was able to just vicariously experience it by watching other people activate the wand enabled things.

I'm curious how different the food in the U.S. is vs. Japan. Like, in Nintendo World theres a green shell bun filled with yakisoba and cheese and Im curious as to if they have that same product, or if they changed the filling to adjust to U.S. palettes. They also have a red shell bun filled with spaghetti and cheese that has a ketchup sauce.

Growing up, for my family, we often had turkey bacon as a substitute for real (aka pork) bacon, as neither my mother nor step-father ate pork at the time. However, recently I saw a cooking video on YouTube where they made a burger using beef bacon, and I looked it up and it does indeed appear to be an actual food (I mean, why not, right). Beef tends to be my favorite type of meat, so making bacon out of it sounds like it would be pretty good. Unfortunately, in the country I currently live in, I doubt itd be easy to find. And my kitchen is small and fairly unequipped for me to attempt making it at home.
