First number is attack, the letter is whether it's physical or magical, second number is phys defense, third number is magical defense. All of the numbers are actually the most significant bit of a two digit hexadecimal number (no way to view the least significant bit). When two cards fight, two random numbers are chosen. The first is between 0 and the hex value of the attacking monster's attack, the second is between 0 and the defending monster's defense of the appropriate type. The higher roll wins.

There's some more complicated stuff too (like there's an X attack type or something that will attack the weaker of the two of the opponent's defenses). Your cards also get stronger as you use them.

Yeah these Japanese character polls always seem to be a bit different than how I imagine a western equivalent would go. For example from discussions I've seen Megumi seems to be pretty universally regarded as one of (if not the) weakest characters, but she's fifth in that poll

Eh Nate does occasionally say some stupid stuff (e.g. on covid) and hes often pretty smug, but like 80% of the hate I see coming towards him is pretty unjustified (especially the people blaming him for the polls being wrong when a) hes an aggregator/modeler, not a pollster and b) the polls have actually been pretty decent lately)

No it was a legitimately great game, super sad that the global version died. The high end fights were very hard and required a lot of skill/strategy to beat, particularly if you were F2P

Also, ice cold take: FF3DS is the literal worst final fantasy of all time. Absolutely abominable gameplay, a total downgrade over a fucking NES game. If anyone here only played the DS version of FF3, do yourself a favor and play the pixel remaster instead. They managed to make the gameplay WORSE, by a LOT, somehow.

The main thing I remember about FF3 3DS is that the final dungeon is super long and has zero save points, and that I quit after wiping and losing over an hour of progress
