As I've shown it can be considered statutory rape in some jurisdictions as a position of authority. It's usually against college rules in places where it's not illegal. Unlike a former intern teacher getting into a relationship with a former student after having not seen them in 5 years which isn't banned anywhere.

Byleth is 26 at the end of the game. They often say he was born 21 years ago pre timeskip. I don't get how so many people missed it. I mean yeah, the Byleths are only about 5/6 years older than most of their students, but a real teacher doing that would still be very sketchy, but they are not real people and it's obviously not a real school.

They're dead/inside that magic dream dimension coma for 5 years so they don't mentally and logically physically age at all as shown by how they don't level up through the timeskip so technically the students become older than them.
In any case you're missing the part that Byleth isn't their teacher at all after the timeskip, hasn't been for 5 years, and the S rank only happens after the war and the game ends anyway. It's akin to a college intern tutoring high schoolers for a year and then after 5 years later of not seeing them happens upon a former student who have long since graduated and have their own jobs and get into a relationship with them. It's nowhere near as sketchy as an actual student-teacher relationship where even in college could be illegal.

As someone who loves mario (I can count 12 pieces of mario merchandise in my immediate view in my room) it wasn't that good. It wasn't horrible or anything, but it could have had a good meaningful story AS WELL AS loads of mario references. "Oh it's a kid's film it doesn't need to be that good". Why not? Look at Into the Spiderverse, the Toy Story films, even The Lego Movie was great in it's own right. The fact you need to be a mario fan to appreciate it is a failure of the film.

As someone who loved Into the Spiderverse I'd say most of the appeal are also mainly references. A lot of the actual plot beats without the references are rather headscratching on retrospect like why supervillain Prowler dies in one shot by Kingpin almost solely so Miles can have a "family member died" moment, Gwen being knocked into the past before the Collider even existed making no sense, why 6 superheros are getting knocked around by 4 villain from a single universe, one weak enough to be knocked out by an ordinary old woman (hell, that entire fight seems to just exist for Prowler to get a sad death since the other villains just vanish for no reason right after he dies), how May is friends with Dr Ock even though Ock is part of a crime organization that eventually killers her nephew, why Kingpin brutally decides to kill original Spiderman but then the rest of the movie kind of treats him like a joke etc.
tbh if the movie wasn't filled with Spiderman references I'd have liked it a lot less.

Spiderverse does have more plot twists and more complex characters though I suppose.

Coming off what I wrote earlier because I don't want to repeat myself but I also don't expect you to read the entire topic:

From a public audience perspective, it was received positively. But fans of the series could instantly recognize the drop in quality that it was. And there are countless posts/videos/threads on it.

I completely agree and that's my point with this topic. This is one of the reasons the Gamecube is buried in praise. They were losing 6th gen and software development was the only tool they had to better themselves. With big sellers like with the Switch and the Wii, they don't have to try nearly as hard.

Abridged, I anticipated this comment:
Forgotten Land was in response to Star Allies. They went over the top on the 2nd try because Star Allies made it abundantly clear how stale 2D Kirby was getting; it wasn't enough for people.

If my argument in this thread is that games implemented for a casual market have decreased in effort on Switch due to Nintendo realizing how easy it is to sell them regardless, then you might say Forgotten Land is the evolution of Kirby from casual to hardcore- AKA series that are peaking on Switch (zelda, metroid, FE)

Well, Star Allies was still the best selling Kirby besides the 1st game even despite its relatively lesser reception so if they really were lazy and just cared about sales they could've made it more of the same *cough* Pokemon but they went above and beyond.

I mean, if we're using the not in real life logic you might as well not care about age at all, it's just fiction. I'd say Byleth only being able to S rank after the 5 year timeskip and even then only after the war is over, when most of the students are older than them and far past being students makes it nowhere near as sketchy as an actual ongoing student teacher relationship. The former not being illegal while the latter potentially so.

She's a teacher (late 20's) and he's a student (25 iirc). But they've been dating before he got into college.
Heck the only reason he goes into college is because her parents refused their daughter to be engaged to someone without diploma, so he enroll to the college.

That could be statutory rape.

It is also considered as statutory rape even if the person is above age of consent if the other person is in an authority position such as a teacher, a doctor or a parent

Even aside from that, most colleges have policies against it which can result in termination or expulsion.

What if persona 6 has all the party members be teachers? Its still set at school but the story is from the teacher point of view, not students.

That's a pretty creative way of doing it actually.

tbf having a teacher be a social link will always be questionable, even if they aged up to college. It'd have to take place outside of school and well, that's not really modern Persona at that point is it.
