He likely worked in the command post and someone had their SIPR terminal up but didn't secure it when they left the room. Since you can't have cell phones, smart watches, two way radios, etc while in a secured room, he would have had to print the documents to a secure printer and then took them home.

He worked in Intel which means he was likely often in the secure area. Being as new the military as he was, he probably didn't have his own access to the secure network but worked in an office where the secure connections are always up. He worked the night shift, whoever was working with him likely had to take a piss and didn't log out of the computer.
Kid accesses the files, prints them to the secure printer, and takes the documents home.
There's gonna be a lot of heads rolling on the military side.

They can be a little underwhelming and the crowds quite small. I watched a championship match and while it was entertaining for sure, the ending of the match came up short.
