Football is also an expensive sport, but it's so ingrained in US culture that most kids get their gear through fundraising or their school. But if you're one of those kids that know they're getting a scholarship at Alabama or something and are going to private school like IMG, it's still obnoxiously expensive. Contrary to what people think because of stereotypes from movies like Boyz N the Hood, foootball is not a sport you use to "get out of the projects" or whatever. A new football helmet costs $1000.
