The one word I really got fucking annoyed with in the media is "Unprecedented" it's like them saying "Well yes he did those things but powerful influential people have doing awful things with no accountability since forever, why be change the course now?" a couple weeks back the pokemon anime ended Ash's journey not as in he's retired in show and all old now but rather he's off to yet another adventure with Team Rocket stalking him as usual but we will no longer be following along, instead we're gonna be following a new protagonist, a socially awakward Vtuber watching Paldeian girl who comes to Kanto to attend a bording school there, she gets her first pokemon, the grass starter of gen 9 and is suddenly attacked by a group of dangerous people after the pendant her grandmother gives her, as she flees she is saved by a man and his Charizard who takes her to his sky blimp, she meets his crewmembers and so her adventure begins.

The other protagonist is a boy named Roy, he has a mysterious pokeball and aims to capture legendary pokemon with the fire gen 9 starter, the power of Riko's mysterious pendant, the mystery of Roy's strange pokeball, the mysterious shiny terralized Rayquaza, the group of people chasing Riko and wither the people protecting Riko are not simply using her for their own ends, these are the plot hooks of this new pokemon adventure, Pokemon Horizons or Pokemon Dawn in japan.

Sounds exciting, right? Then you remember that it's still the same writers, animators and producers who have always worked on Pokemon and know it's only a matter of time before they fall back into their usual habits of formulastical bull shit that kept Ash from advancing what little plot he had for 25 years.

And even then, the plot threads Ash used to have were all ignored, Team Rocket will still chase him, Giovanni is more powerful than ever, the definition of a pokemon master all along was finally defined by him as "Meeting and becoming friends with every known pokemon in existence" he never wanted to catch them all, he never wanted to be the very best and he never wanted to find companions that was just bump in the road stuff for Ash.

I how long they intend it to last

the name "Horizons" is only the name of the first arc

People working on Pokemon don't like working hard be it the anime writers or the game producers so I give it at least 2 years before they get bored of trying to do a story driven show and run back to their endless character of the day fillers again
