What is there to be conflicted about? It's not like they made a mistake. What they did was intentional. What they did was protocol. All those things are on the same hand.

Unions have funds to help those striking to meet their basic needs.

Yep, in the US we can barely get to that point and it gets squashed pretty quickly. I would love for a general strike to happen in the US, and whether it succeeds or not, it would still build a lot of solidarity. However it's pretty much near impossible in the US at the moment to even start a general strike.

I never said that. All I'm saying is we have to focus on strengthening our unions first. The reason European countries have been able to stymie wealth inequality compared the the US is due to unions. It is also why they have more expansive social welfare programs.

We may never see the change we want in our lifetime, but we can still build the steps for the next generations to work on.

Nothing is stopping you from striking, but good luck coordinating it when union membership is insanely low in the US.

It would be ideal, but a general strike will never happen in the US because we don't have unions like the UK does for their rail strikes. It is ineffective to just call for a strike without the strengthening of our unions first as we'll need good union leaders to help coordinate the strikes. It's so easy to just tweet, retweet, and yell about it, but there's a reason they are doing that and not organizing. The current step is to unionize our workplaces before we can get to the next step.

Yeah shutting down the railroad strikes instead of pressuring the railroad companies into compromising with its workers is so shitty. They weren't even asking for much either.
