I bought phantasy star 1 recently because of this topic and you're right this game rocks. 4 is my favorite old rpg but I never really got around to the earlier ones

I watched the newest episode yesterday and it was so awful. I can't believe they were pushing the companions being useful angle and then there's just an ai doctor who to quip at them and tell them exactly what to do. I liked seeing Ace again but the rest of everything I saw was terrible.

That's hard. Pretty much all of them from 1 to Aria of Sorrow are games I regularly pick up and play. SotN was probably the most magical on first playthrough, but I go back and play 1 and Rondo of Blood more probably. Shout-out to Legacy of Darkness though, played that for the first time recently and loved it
