So here's some backstory. WAY back when, back after I broke up with Vlado, but before I'd announced my true (well, truer, since it was a different time back then in terms of gender identity understanding) self, I had this little story that I'd crafted a handful of characters for. It wasn't fleshed out or anything like that...I just like creating characters. And the whole thing was "Oh look, I've assembled all of these characters from throughout human history. Look at them interact with one another." Then when I needed to create a character for the first DC campaign, it was easy to take Tali (my first character from this timelost story) and repurpose her with superpowers.

I say all of this to explain that even before campaign 1, Alyssa Davenport existed. She was one of the most modern character characters, and I mostly just named her what I named her because I just chose a generic white person surname that sounded wealthy, but not OBSCENELY wealthy. Then the other group (it was mainly them, IIRC) encountered Devlin Davenport and I didn't think much of it. I had a successful campaign with Tali, and it was great.

Campaign TWO rolled around and I wanted a change. I figured Tali had her time to shine, so I'd try out a new character, and Alyssa fit the bill. Again, it never occurred to me that she shared a last name with Devlin Davenport. I do not have him as one of my pre-campaign character connections. It was only when we went to Gotham City and there was a point early on when we were considering getting into the...Tobacconists Club, was it? And I asked Scar "Hey, can I roll to see if Pepper is related to Devlin Davenport?" It wasn't meant to be a big deal or anything at the time, but that one little choice ballooned into the character we see now.

It just gives me a little bit of joy, knowing that without Pepper, Devlin probably would've been relegated to "generic Court of Owls baddie that the players are conditioned to want to punch, because he was a douche in campaign one". WITH Pepper though, there's some complexity on both of their parts, pulling each other towards or away from the light, as it were.

Part of me hopes she gets to the point where she's comfortable creating a pink, hard light construct of herself and living as a..."normal person" sounds wrong, but it's the closest thing I have to what I'm trying to say. I want Starsa to go full Red Tornado in her sentience.

I think I genuinely considered Miki, but I'd spent the whole draft trying to avoid picking characters I liked in favor of trying to actually win, so I used my last draft on my Alice/Pepper solo session instead.

I was so happy for a second when Jaime found the idol, only to immediately turn sour when it turned out it was just some Matthew superfan bullshit. It's even worse when Danny was so much more engaging and entertaining in doing the same exact thing a scene prior.

That first Tika scene says a lot. Carson is giving this smug, overexcited confessional about how smart he is, then Carolyn gives a quirky, genuinely happy confessional about not getting voted out.
