There are certainly cases where the added text ends up making things more confusing than it should, and occasionally cases with redundant answers, but neither of these polls are really examples of that.
You asked me what I thought was being excluded. I pointed out what I thought was being excluded. You now seem to be changing the subject to make it seem like your question was about something else.

While we dont get multiple choices (yet), but they also dont ask questions like that
I have seen the occasional poll where the responses were not mutually exclusive and more than one could have applied.

Does your home have a front door?
Yes, to keep people from getting in.
Yes, to keep my pets from getting out.
No, only a back door.
No, I use the window to enter and exit.

The front door can do both things. The back door can also do those things. You could choose to use the window to enter and exit regardless of having doors.

On APotD a topic is made to discuss a specific poll and all discussion is held within that topic. The subject of this topic is not a specific poll and is a general issue with all polls.

How many oranges have you eaten today? Yes/No

On what planet is this a yes/no question? That question requires the response of a number.
Still less confusing than the options we normally get?

adjl posted...
That's introducing wholly unrelated information with the responses, though, in a way that's going to make it difficult to get any additional value out of them.
Yes, just like what normally happens. That is what I intended to demonstrate.

adjl posted...
you'd be better off asking "Which of the following fruits do you like better than oranges?" or giving people a list to rank according to their preferences.
What colors have you personally seen?
White
Red
Yellow
Blue
Green
Orange
Purple
Brown
Black
Grey

Only pick one. We don't get multiple choices in the poll of the day.

adjl posted...
The exact wording of #3 in particular is a bit questionable because "nobody's ever watched" should probably be interpreted as "not enough people watched to make doing it regularly worthwhile" instead of literally "nobody," but that interpretation is obvious enough that I don't consider it a major issue. What, exactly, do you think is being excluded or confused?
Same poll #5 "No, I don't want anybody to watch me play anything online"
Maybe I would be interested in doing it, but I haven't tried yet nor have I uploaded any videos.
Which option accurately reflects that response?

Current poll #5 "Eight or more - I've got a lot of locks to open every day"
Let's say I don't want to put them somewhere and forget where that was by the time I need one of them. Or I don't want to need one of them but not have it because I didn't anticipate that I would need it. This option disregards the reasons people would carry more keys than they regularly use. So where is the response that accurately reflects those reasons?

your argument is flawed and you're using a loaded example (ironic, considering it's what you're rallying against).
That was the point. I wanted to make it obvious that it was loaded.

sveksii posted...
As far as your orange example, how is that any worse than: "Jesus preached how moral people liked oranges. Do you like oranges? Yes/No?"
By prefacing the question this way it might influence people to answer in a way to appear moral. But the question asked has nothing to do with that. They can still respond by disregarding the first part. They cannot disregard part of the response since there is implied agreement with the extraneous statement.

sveksii posted...
Where as you could ask what is your opinion on oranges oranges?
"Strong like"
"Weak like"
"Indifferent"
"Weak dislike"
"Strong dislike"
All of those responses are what the question asked for. My complaint is when the responses make a statement in addition to that.

sveksii posted...
Where as with just a Yes/No "Do you like oranges", people that are indifferent to oranges and people that have a strong hatred to them will be lumped together.
I still think a simple Yes/No would work just as well. If you want to know more ask further questions.
How much do you like oranges? Yes/No
How many oranges have you eaten today? Yes/No
How many oranges can you juggle. Yes/No
Now you have 3 pieces of information you can correlate without making the responses confusing.

A binary yes/no indicates nothing about frequency, success rate, or people's reasons for choosing yes/no
So, just picking something at random...
Do you like oranges?
*Yes, they are better than strawberries.
*Yes, they are better than apples.
*Yes, they are better than bananas.
*No, I'd rather have apricots.
*No, I'd rather have pomegranates.

What if someone likes oranges but not as much as strawberries, apples, and bananas? What if someone is not fond of oranges but would take one if offered more so than an apricot or a pomegranate? Which response are they suppose to pick?

The maker of these options is imposing their own opinion of which fruits are better and is skewing the results to fall in line with that bias. The question never asked about other fruits. Any correlation that is created is the product of how the poll was conducted rather than the views of people polled.

Algorithms will measure that engagement without aknowledgement of ideological leaning. The bias I'm talking about only cares about ideology.

Absolutely false. The Jan 6th protest happened because the Democrat party called into question the election process for the 4 years prior as well as the support shown for similar protests in 2020.

You ever notice how everyone that says "You can't express any right-wing views on twitter!" tries to avoid the question when asked which right-wing views they feel they can't express on twitter?
No, I've never noticed that. Primarily because the bannings never had anything to do with what views people wanted to express. Simply not agreeing with the regressive talking points was enough to get someone labeled as right-wing. And simply being labeled as right-wing was enough to get someone banned, or just visibility filtered, regardless of anything they actually posted.

They proved there was a conservative bias with an undisclosed cause.
So suppressing discussion of the Hunter laptop story under the premise of "hacked materials" was a conservative move? The files demonstrate they knew no hacking was involved and that the real reason was because they acted on behalf of the FBI.

How about the banning of Donald Trump on the basis of inciting violence. When Elon Musk restores the account there are all these posts saying to be peaceful, abide by the rule of law, and don't act like the progressives. Where are the posts calling for violence? If anything old twitter hid the evidence disproving that he was involved with any violence.

How about the very premise of speech as violence? They say they didn't shadow ban but it's clear they just called it visibility filtering instead. Their justification for it was this faulty premise of limiting harm be limiting reach. Do you think that's a conservative approach?

Those are just the ones that people are talking about most. There are many others examples where old twitter just didn't like an account and suspended them despite finding no violation. When Elon Musk brings the accounts back people were asking why they were all right-wing. Why isn't he restoring any leftist accounts? The answer is leftist accounts were rarely touched unless they did something really egregious.

I wouldn't call that "most cases." It certainly happens pretty often
Maybe it's just my own misfortunes with game ownership that makes it seem more prevalent.

PC games definitely aren't sold that way. Toward the end even the boxed copies just had the Steam or Blizzard client and you could not make use of the files on the disc.

I guess with the switch you can install from the carts without needed anything extra. For PS and Xbox some of the systems can't make use of physical media. You need a specific system that has the optical drive.

I think my physical copy of Monster Hunter: World on PS4 would not let me start the game until I connected it to a network, updated, and downloaded the Iceborn expansion.

What poll?
I linked to it in the first post.

They are on console.
Maybe for the really expensive special editions that come with extra stuff. Even then I've seen a few where the game is not included. Other than that, the flimsy case that holds the disc is not a box. That's what use to come in the box. Also the game use to be included on the disc.

I'm going to guess this is supposed to be a clever dig at Gamestop
It's about the move to digital and how in most cases when you do buy physical the disc you got doesn't actually contain the game and you still need to download it.

Many stores do that, empty box in stores, games in a drawer behind the counter or in the back room.
I think the last time I bought a game in a store it was in a plastic manacle, tethered to the shelf, and it took 15 minutes to find an employee to escort it to the register. After that I decided I'm just going to order online and have them shipped from now on.

He and Smithers were seen together so they can't be the same person.

there was ample reason to suspect guilt there, not just some random dude on Instagram saying there might be a problem.
The House of Representatives aren't investigating because of an Instagram post.
There was an Instagram post referencing the announcement made by the incoming House of Representatives.
You've got your order of events wrong.

Obviously it was stupid to blame high gas prices on Biden
The US was a net exporter of gas under Trump. Biden's anti-oil policies changed that. Given how vocal he has been in a key factor in gas prices I don't think it's so stupid to draw a connection.

the GOP voted unanimously against an anti-price gouging bill that would have cut down on the extent to which oil companies are screwing everyone over
Is that what the bill was really about, or was it climate change legislation along with funding to special interest groups like is usually slipped into those things?

and obviously it's equally stupid to blame prices going down on him.
I'd rather blame him for misuse of the nation oil reserve for personal and political gain.
