Honestly, I can't even blame Martin for not writing anything. Like the show after the books ran out was pretty much just trying to bring all these loose ends together so the show could end and nobody liked it. And there's even more stuff in the books to deal with than there was in the show, and a lot of people who are way farther away doing their own stuff. It's an even larger ask to try to tie all those loose ends.

I can't really blame GRMM for just wanting to stall out the books forever.

  • Andrew Tate is like, a grifter who targets young kids with like, incel-tier arguemtsn hiding behind "oh look how he's so cool and has the nice cars and shit so he has to be right".
  • He's also a huge piece of shit. IIRC He's hiding in Romania because "they have laxer laws on sexual assault" or something like that. He's just all-around a garbage-tier person.

Anyways, on to the actual event:
  • Tate called out Greta (because this young girls is a right-wing lightning rod for some reason) by showing off all his "cool cars and that they totally destroy the environment but he doesn't care because he's such a chad"
  • Greta, bothering to respond, pointed out the obvious small-dick energy Tate was putting out by it.
  • Tate had such a meltdown over it he responded like 3 times and spent all of Wednesday afternoon retweeting various right-wing chuds who also think its fun to shit on an autistic teenager.
  • The official response of Tate after like 12 hours was a picture of him with pizzas and like, a big-ass-cigar (to show how alpha he is) pretending that Greta's response was actually a self-burn because it suggests that [email protected] was actually her email address! SO SHE'S THE ONE WITH THE SMALL DICK LOL
  • Yes it was weak AF and Tate would have probably been better off just not responding.
  • SUPPOSEDLY Tate is actually wanted by Romanian authorities and the pizza boxes in his alpha-male image gave them an idea of the area where he was staying (with some location data based on being somewhere around where that pizza place was) allowing the police to find him.
  • Greta allegedly died of laughter.

I'm sure there's some details I'm missing (and I covered who Tate was pretty lightly), but I think this is the main story that happened.

Yeah, in specific situations where the insecurity is based off of low self confidence and lashing out as an effort to compensate because you're insecure about that trait. You can go back to like, cringy posts on Tumblr from 2015 about how being fat is the better option because something or other and that term would apply there. But it's not common because small dick energy is the one that already exists and they pretty much cover the same bases.

It implies that having a small dick is synonymous with being inferior. Hence small dick energy= inferior energy, which isn't an ok thing to say.

It doesn't imply that having a small dick is being inferior. It implies that being insecure about your small dick is.

I said in my last post, like if you want a better term for it then we can work on that, but that's why the term exists, and intentionally misinterpreting it so you can get defensive is, ironically enough, little dick energy.

cuttin_in_farm posted...
Ig I draw the difference in that Greta is not saying Tate has a small penis.

Ive had to say to my women friends that making fun of a guy for being uncircumcised isnt cool, even if hes an ass.

To me, implying your compensating for something isnt an affront to the less endowed. But just the idea that someone is puffing out their chest so to speak.

Its not body shaming because its literally the opposite implication. Nobody cares you have a small dick, bro. Stop acting so big.

This is a better explanation.

It's genuinely astounding to see someone try to argue "well actually, when I say small penis im not actually talking about penises and social constructs of masculanity".

Why is this something you need to hold on to si desperately? What part of your being is lost if you stop shaming small penises?

There's a very specific kind of insecurity on display here, that isn't really being illuminated if I just say you're being insecure.

However, "little dick energy" is a very specific kind of insecurity that better explains exactly what's going on here. Its not shaming people with small dicks, its shaming people who are insecure over something they don't need to be insecure over.

If you have a better term, you can feel free to share it.

This has already been said in the topic, but because someone doesn't seem to get it, small dick =/= small dick energy.

Small dick energy is when you're ashamed of your tiny dick and really want to convince people you actually have a big dick. Andrew Tate going "look at all my cool cars that destroy the environment because I'm such a chad I don't care" is pure small dick energy.

My Best Friends Excorcism on Amazon Prime.

Trying to fit it into a like 80 minute movie meant that it basically took the entire heart out of the book (which given the silly premise, left it with a pretty basic like B-list TV horror) despite that being kind of the most important part. At least if it was bad, then it could fit into "so bad its good" territory, or warrant a remake in a few years, but it was just so basic. Its a movie you can't recommend because anyone who read the book would hate the movie, and anyone who hasn't I can't recommend because the movie doesn't really have any qualities worth recommending.

Reading the reviews on the horror lit subreddit was just like, deflating.

A close second is Paper Girls not getting a second season.

Note that the first TLOU game was really structured like a TV show. It was very directly split into very clear sections that would take you about 45-90 minutes to play through (depending on stuff like difficulty and how good a gamer you are) that ended with very obvious "this is the end of the episode" moments for you to put the game down and come back to later.

It was honestly one of the strongest points of that game, and something TLOU2 strayed from, which is part of the reason the 2nd game isn't as good (I mean, I really liked the 2nd game, but I think the first one is better).

There wasn't a whole lot of real comments about the movie, except like "lol Pocahontas with blue people" a billion times, and a couple "not my Avatar #ATLA". There still aren't, even with a new movie being the new blockbuster making a ****ton of money when theaters have a lot more competition.

There isn't a lot of real impact the movie had besides making a lot of money. It kind of made 3D movies a thing again, but that never took off, and a decade later the only real impact the Avatar movie had was blue pocohontas jokes.

Proto_Spark
12/21/22 2:50:13 PM

The Last of Us actually has a pretty generic story, but it does a really good job of everything in the game kind of adding to the story and production that a lot of games sacrifice. Everything in TLOU is pretty well organized so that everything adds to the story being told.

TLOU has one of the best-told stories in video games, but the story itself isn't that deep or anything.

Open World games suffer from the same thing that made TLOU really good. Oh, you're saying the Train is on fire and speeding towards an orphanage full of children? Well yeah, but hang one, this guy wants a couple bananas, and this guy wants me to kill a bear, and there's a whole side-story here that takes a while, but is apparently really fun and gives you a cool gun so the train'll wait a while. There's a place for this kind of game for sure, but that freedom can easily hurt the story, especially when the story has any kind of urgency, and that's something that a game like TLOU doesn't have.

TopicDid they really make Gyarados part flying type
Proto_Spark
12/19/22 12:41:40 PM

Because back when Gen 1 came out, they kind of made up the Dragon Type for the singular purpose of being the super-endgame boss. If you want a Dragonite during the main game, you can use it, but you have to go well out of your way, either being a Game Corner Prize, or Fishing in the safari Zone, neither of which actually tells you anything about its value in battle. And add to that, Dratini is... horrible in-game. And even if you're training one, there aren't many pokemon with Ice-Type moves until you face Lorelei in the Elite 4, so you might not ever learn what Dragon's actual weaknesses are until its basically too late to do something about it.

So really, the first time you'll encounter a dragon type will likely be Lance at (what you think) is the very end of the game, with hard hitting monsters that resist whatever you're starter's (which is probably your best pokemon) biggest STAB move. Because it's basically making up a type for the final battle, you probably have no idea how to deal with it. It makes Lance a great "final boss" before the twist of a bonus rival battle at the end.

Slapping Dragon type on Gyarados and/or Charizard would hurt that. In addition to flying being a much weaker type and making the respective pokemon fit more with the power level of the rest of the pokemon.

I'm still not like, great at public speaking or anything, but I can talk to a group of people by myself without really any issue now. And I'm fully aware that a lot of throwing me into a group and having us all present or whatever was a big thing in helping that.

Actually doing group projects though was lame. You have no control over someone who is really obviously half assing it and sometimes you need to really go overboard in order to try to compensate for it.
