Xenoblade 2 came out

It didn't ruin it. Say what you will about that game but 3 is great.

Also heavily enjoying the DLC so far. There's loads of content in it which...I suppose shouldn't have surprised me considering Torna's amount of content but it feels like I barely scratched the surface with what I can do and I've played for like 4+ hours.

No, Future Connected can be completely skipped, really. It's essentially a filler episode.

I mean, if you still want to play it, be my guest, but it's narrative left a lot to be desired.

Well, at the most, you'll probably need to know where the Fog Beasts came from, since those have come back as enemies in this new DLC story.

Edit: Also not sure what's going on with the whole "why can't they do self-contained stories again" notion. They've been doing that. The callbacks to previous games are for the veteran players and they largely have done a good job with it. XC2 fleshed out Klaus/Zanza, not hurt it. Klaus/Zanza was uninteresting as a character in XC1, and 2 fixed that. XC2 provided the context that the same man can change depending on circumstances. Zanza is not a "dark version" of Klaus...it is Klaus, just under different circumstances: what would happen if someone like Klaus saw his experiment come to fruition. Meanwhile Klaus in XC2's world shows what someone like him would become if his experiment failed. It humbled him, made him feel persecuted/punished from on high, and tried to seek forgiveness.

Also, seeing Melia and Nia become queens in XC3 is cathartic for people who played their respective games because it showed how they grew. It's not like they're pulling a Finn and disregarding their previous growth just to re-tell it again. They're going back and fleshing these characters out further.

Yeah, it's kinda interesting. The Adventure Log acts as Link's diary and has a bunch of flavor to it. We also actually get to see that Link does have a thing for Zelda. A few references to Link looking forward to meeting Zelda again and hoping that she remembers the time they spent together.

Which...kinda sucks for Mipha, not gonna lie.

Kinda based.

It's so over the top that it made me grin from ear to ear. That part was great in the remake.

I kinda like it. They compensated for making Leon more mobile and having a knife parry by making the enemies more aggressive and more numerous. The knife in general is just insane so having durability was the only way to balance it out.

I will agree though, Hardcore is definitely not "just for people who played the OG." Most people are gonna get wrecked starting with that.

I used to be poor. I was a Democrat. I wanted handouts and tax the rich and thought all ultrawealthy were greedy and evil.

I'm not a multi millionaire by any means, but as I've accumulated wealth and a few lucky patents and good investments and very close to financial independence in my mid 30s my viewpoint has changed dramatically.

It's not something you can appreciate until you go through it, if you're lucky enough to do so. The more money you make ...the more you want to keep it. That's not evil, I think that's just human nature. What elon has done with his for ukraine is incredible, and king is a dick.

If I happen to get rich and I end up having this mindset then just shoot me. I get the temptation to be greedy, but since I know what "living within my means" is I just feel all that money would be largely superfluous to keep.

Besides not all rich people succumb to greed. As an example, for a Youtuber Markiplier makes tons of money, likely in the millions, but he said he only keeps what he needs to live, such as paying bills, buying groceries, gas for the car, etc. and just gives away the rest to family, friends, and charity.

Literally nobody saw or has pointed out that Aloy is an offensive lesbian stereotype except for this one person on here. And since they're so incredibly afraid of getting moderated just explaining what the stereotypes were (I severely doubt you will since other people have done so on this very topic), I'm not gonna believe them.

I'll wait and see on this one, because the game itself wasn't much in terms of plot but it did set up an interesting backstory. Depends on what the movie does.

Is this game like Final Fantasy where you can play any title or is it more like the Trails games?

Sorta kinda like Final Fantasy, though this one in particular seems like you'll get the most out of it if you played all the others beforehand.

I immediately loved all the character designs, they went hard on them. I can't wait for next week, I loved the main game but wished there was more to the lore. This would be perfect.

The story was mostly Joel and Ellie's relationship growing.

It's really not that bad. It's a pretty fun game and gorgeously crafted. Story's controversial but I didn't hate it. I just preferred the first game's story.

So there's a sky area, a land area, and an underground area? Jesus. Wonder how that phasing ability is going to come into play. It has to be something more than what they showed.

Apparently it can be used to go through land, water, traversing through sky islands if they're right above, and even through certain enemies.

The underground part to look for is when Link is lighting up something in a dark area. The coordinates in the mini-map are in the deep negatives, which signifies it's below ground. I had to put a space in the link because it wouldn't let me post it due to character limit.

For comparison's sake...it looks like this underground area is gonna have the significance in size to the entire underground area in Elden Ring.

There's a leaked TV spot confirming outright that the three-headed dragon in the trailer is a Gleeok (and there are different element types, so probably delegated to an overworld boss) and that there's a gigantic underworld below ground to explore.

I'm...kinda super hyped, not gonna lie.

Game looks really good. How long of a game is Breath of the Wild? I never played it.

It can be short or long depending on how you play it. Tons of optional exploration but if you do just the main quests it's somewhat short for a 3D Zelda. Of course you can make it even shorter by just heading to Hyrule Castle at any point you want.

Hopefully this trailer alleviates some concerns about the game not feeling different enough from its predecessor. I always felt there was nothing to worry about but some people need to see visual confirmation before making a purchase.

I'm not sure. There's a total 32 rolls and 30 charms, and I think some seeds have unavoidable duplicates. So you're probably forced to continue in NG+ to get them all.

It didn't feel mediocre to me.

It also just feels funny to see the new movie get called mediocre in direct comparison to the old one.

I hate it when people come out of the woodwork and say that something universally terrible "was good, actually."

I had a really enjoyable time. This movie is clearly made for both adults and kids who grew up playing Mario, there is just so much to take in. Mario music from both old and new eras revitalized as a theatrical soundtrack, tons of references, and even a nod to the old live-action Mario movie with the whole scenes from Brooklyn...at least that's what came to mind for me. Done way better, of course.

The story and characters weren't very deep but honestly considering it's Mario, that doesn't bother me. The only Mario games that have actual stories are most of the RPG games, which I wouldn't mind seeing get adapted at some point, tbh. My only real gripe is that the pacing was a bit too fast, not enough time spent on certain scenes to make things more poignant (like Peach telling Mario what she remembers about her past...that went by in like less than 10 seconds). Bowser was great though, and Chris Pratt as Mario was way better than I expected. The trailers didn't do him justice.

Honestly highly recommended if you love Mario, and it's still a fun movie to see with your kids if you don't. After this I totally want to see a Metroid movie supervised by Nintendo Pictures in the future. There's prime material for a compelling movie right there if they make it about Samus's past. Doesn't need to be done with Illumination either, it could be live action with heavy CG elements or just be headed by a different animation studio.

I'm unironically a big fan of these "shame the player" fourth-wall break animations for characters. So that's cool, lol.
