"Employees"

Admins of websites are generally paid, hence the term employees. Theyre different than moderators of the forums. And they also generally dont own the companies they administer sites for. Its an appropriate word to use there.

This isnt really the gotcha that TC seems to think it is.

Those admins are employees and likely have to ban things on the site whether they personally agree with the decision or not.

What they do in their free time is their business and may not align 100% with what the site is doing at the time.

It's really bad luck those dogs escaped during recess. Don't schools usually have a fence around the area though?

Not always, the elementary school I went to didnt have a fence around the basketball courts and recess area and my house in high school had the playground for an elementary school right outside our backyard. Our backyard was fenced but the school playground was not.

Nah. Social media in general has never been my thing. I was in college when it first really became a sort of massive thing and it just never grabbed me.

I suppose its been easier for me to ignore since it wasnt a part of my childhood the way it is for kids now.

I would have given it a different name to convey to consumers that it was in fact a new console and I also wouldnt have spent so much time focusing only on the controller. People thought it was a peripheral for the Wii mainly because of that and the name.

no.

I have no issue with sex work, as long as all parties are consenting adults, and no one is being hurt (unless it's their choice) or exploited.

with that said, I'm not dating anyone who's having sex with other people.

This. Im just not wired to be okay with it. Wouldnt be fair to her if I willingly entered into a relationship knowing that about myself.

I could do that. I remember actually making a phrase from numbers once for something that needed just numbers for a password. That said, it have to be a phrase I can remember. And for most sites, I would need to make sure to add numbers and special characters (and they have to be special characters the site can use) That said, the reason I made this topic was because I had to change my Hulu password (which I dont ever remember doing since I made it), so a phrase might also be hard to remember when I changed it from a password I made years and years ago Though, it would be good for a password for a new account site if I need one (as long as I can think of an appropriate phrase. Many sites have extra restrictions like no common passwords, certain words not being used, no 3 numbers in sequential order, certain special characters not being used, and other things

Thats fair, phrases along with a password manager are what I use. I dont really remember the vast majority of my passwords but I use a password manager so if I need to check what it is I can.

Yeah. But Im also afraid of not being able to get into my own accounts. Besides, as started earlier, data breaches can become more frequent since people end up writing down passwords in many cases due to having to make a password they cant remember since they have to be long and overly complicated

Make a phrase instead, youll meet the length requirement, it will be super easy for you to remember, and it will be difficult for someone to brute force.

Youve still chosen to believe in that system, thats what Im getting at. We all do it, we choose the system of making sense of the larger world that we think works best for us. I mean theres plenty of scientific fact that we all believe that we havent actually vetted ourselves at all right?

We accept it because weve determined that for us, scientific discovery is best suited to make sense of the world and the universe for us. We have chosen a system to believe in.

Calling it a belief isnt something I mean to be insulting, I personally do think it makes a lot more sense to put my faith in a system with checks and balances versus one where I have to just believe a book that was written by a bunch of long dead human beings.

But I'd wager the majority of atheists actually would believe in a God if they were given evidence of it's existence.... We absolutely do say we won't believe in such nonsense unless we were shown otherwise. The problem is... No one has come up with a single piece of evidence.

If thats their position I would argue theyre agnostic then. They dont believe it due to lack of evidence but if sufficient proof was provided they would shift their thinking.

Theyre very close but that is a key difference IMO. Its the conviction to say I definitely know this doesnt exist, thats where the line is.

Full disclosure, I dont believe in an invisible higher power myself. But I also know that theres no way for me to definitively prove that there isnt something of that nature out there either. So my position is I believe what can be proven to me and I live my life based on those things, and the rest of it Im just okay with not knowing for sure.

How come we can say with 100% certainty that flying unicorns don't exist, but we can't say with 100% certainty that God doesnt?

Both things are made up fairy tales.

If were being honest we cant say that with 100% certainty. There are species on the planet that are still being discovered right now.

Now no one has ever seen a flying unicorn so Im not going to operate in my life as if they do exist but when you make a definitive statement about something that cant be proven either way youre in belief territory. Im not saying theres an inherent problem with that either by the way. Its how most people live their lives.

Actually most people probably live their lives not thinking about that sort of thing. Like I dont think about flying unicorns ever.

It is about burden of proof.

I understand burden of proof, thats not what Im talking about. If someone says to me that there is other intelligent life in the universe and I say no there isnt, I realize that they made the claim first and if were in an active debate its up to them to provide proof of that claim before I have to do anything.

That doesnt mean that my statement of no there isnt is not a belief. I wouldnt ever call atheism a religion, there would have to be way more to it than simply stating that there are no deities but I would argue that it is a belief.

Atheists dont say I have no proof so I wont believe it until I do they These things definitely dont exist. Theres some level of belief there due to that conviction.

Its still a belief though, its just a belief in science or the observable world rather than something else.

I mean we all believe in some things or accept some things that we havent proven or that havent been proven to us directly right? We might say that theyre factual because theyre rooted in science but were still choosing to believe how science came up with those facts rather than how some other institution did.

Burden of proof still remains on the person who made the initial claim. Not the person responding.

Agreed but this isnt about burden of proof. Its about whether definitively stating as a fact that gods do not exist is a belief system in and of itself.

Its the difference between saying I dont believe what youre saying versus saying that and then also going further to state This is how it actually is.

You literally have no idea what you are talking about.

The burden of proof is on the person who made the initial claim. Not the person who reacts to your claim that its not real.

Theres a difference between someone making a claim and the other person simply saying okay I wont believe that until you prove it, and someone making a claim and the other person saying youre incorrect, in fact the opposite is actually true.

Why would it mean that?

Because theres no way to prove it either way. Many athiests state with conviction that there factually are no gods. Theres some level of belief there because it cant be definitively proven that either side is correct.

incorrect. atheism is the lack of belief in gods. no "believing" involved. you straight up reject the notion as factually untrue.

Wouldnt that mean you believe that there are no gods?
