Indeed. The only reason I ride up and down the main road where I am is because theres both a concrete barrier and a ditch between the road and the sidewalk.

I also just don't use bike lanes. It is peak idiocy to put bikes on the same roads as cars and ultimately theres not a lot of pedestrians for me to inconvenience so, sidewalks it is.

Idk if this was a movie or a tv show or what.

But it was an interrogation scene, and the guy being interrogated was this white...German? looking dude? He was thin and had a very defined face with thin glasses, spikey or buzzed blond or light brown hair.

And what was distinctive about the scene is that this dude at some point is able to turn on his music, which I remember just being some crummy deep fried techno that was bass boosted to all hell, which they're basically depicting as being so loud the two cops immediately start screaming in pain clutching their ears.

But the guys fine and just sits there listening to it while the cops just bleed out of their ears I guess. I walked away at this point.

Anyone recognize this? This would have been early 2000s.

Is there? How so?

Teachers have no real power to maintain order in their classes unless they're fortunate enough to have a supportive admin behind them, but even then.

Theres very little accountability being enforced on students for their behavior unless its so severe that it outweighs the districts fear of getting sued by the parents, but even then. Theres been cases of teachers being put in the hospital by students only to have the same students place with them again the following year.

And this is only being reinforced by backwards academic standards that overemphasizes the detrimental social effects on kids who get held back, which only goes to justify artificially inflating passage rates so that they can stay funded.

Kids are being taught they don't have to do anything and they'll still be passed along to the next grade, and it only reinforces disruptive behavior because they know that their education doesn't actually matter given all this.

And thats without getting into the kids who are learning from their parents how to bully and cheat their way through their frustrations. There was a video recently of a kid throwing a chair at a teacher, and it was obvious they did it intentionally for the person filming.

Had that teacher not had the self-control not to lay that kid out, that would have been an easy lawsuit for the parents to win, regardless of what the kid did or why.

Im of the opinion the main thing that needs to happen here is a more emphasized contract between parents and educators to better mark the boundaries of what each group can and cannot do.

Parents don't need to be shut out of how their child is educated, but there needs to be an established trust between parents and educators that cannot be violated while retaining the child in school.

Teachers need to be able to discipline their classrooms and hold disruptive students accountable in meaningful ways, up to and including total removal.

Theres a lot more that needs to be done than that, of course, but insofar as discipline goes this is whats needed.

Even sadder though is that I actually think cell phones need to be integrated into the educational process, but its not hard to see how unfettered access with no established discipline or responsibility in regards to their use ends up being just bad.

Yep. You'd think not only their most basic item but also the one uses almost the smallest amount of their ingredients would be cheaper than that but nope.

You can get burritos with rice, beans, and cheese for a $1.20 ea and you can also do their beefy burritos for like, $0.30 more or chicken burritos at the same price.

Its fortunate I really like their rice and beans burritos but still, i just want some tacos man. Its hella cheaper to just get taco stuff at walmart and get an arguably better product but still, Taco Bell is screwing themselves here lol

Had a little get together with my DND group from when I was homeless and the topic of the pirate ship that pursued them across the ocean came up, mostly because of the name I gave it.

I mean, I totally stole it from Muppet Treasure Island, but its still pretty badass, given its captain was basically an Afro-Atlantean samurai wielding a sword that could split spells in half.

A way to really change up the formula would be to have gyms be type restricted, so its a contest of who can train the better mons of the type.

It would also encourage people to catch more Pokemon throughout a playthrough if they want to not be stuck with just one mon.

Plus, itd also play into how the anime treated gyms at time. Ash was just dumb and didn't know type advantages, but they had a whole arc about who was better with Pikachu vs Surges Raichu. Thatd be awesome to capture in the games.

Let's ignore the last part, and focus on the first two sentences.

This is all true.

To blame the "young people", statistically the smallest voting demographic, and the one with the smallest representation politically, for not making the changes you feel need to be made, is being very short sighted.

You're basically asking why someone didn't hit a Grand Slam, even though no one was on base.

Exactly. And in terms of what can be realistically expected, any mechanism thats successfully employed to get that demographic out at higher and higher percentages is inherently going to cause similar turnout boosts in other age groups, nullifying the advantage.

You'd literally have to have older demos either sit out or change their politics dramattically.
