It did? Being split into two countries and ceasing to be a major European power until about the 90s did a lot to squash any nazi revisionism there.

While I do not agree we should get rid of the south, I do believe we should have handled reconstruction very differently.

I don't get why they underestimated it so much.

I know people who don't game but were HP heads who were excited for it. Then the game didn't suck and hit the right notes. Of course it made gangbusters money.

About the boycotts... one thing I really wish people would learn is the majority of people are ignorant about a lot of the political debate bullshit. I'm sure there's a large segment of HP fans who have no idea JK Rowling is a TERF.

Perlmutter also told the Journal about disagreements over Disneys movie business strategy. While Disneys Marvel films have grossed more than $23 billion globally, he urged increased focus on profitability. All they talk about is box office, box office, Perlmutter told the newspaper. I care about the bottom line. I dont care how big the box office is. Only people in Hollywood talk about box office.

How does this even make sense?

Stack ranking is one of those things that sounds phenomenal in theory, but in reality just makes team dynamics horrible and makes it very difficult to work as a team since people are incentivized to sabotage their fellow coworkers and be unhelpful (and even mislead actively).

Time and time again policies that force co workers to be in direct conflict with each other ends up causing significant issues due to the fact that you're supposed to be working together, but time and time again executives can't help but think this time it'll work and we'll keep it secret

The sequels were more entertaining, but told a far worse story (which also had layers of nonsense!)

Did they delete amateur stuff? Why delete in the first place?

Basically PH was under fire because of some VERY problematic videos and CC companies thinking they didn't do enough to respond to take down requests and removal and block re-upload (which, they kind of didn't).

So to assuage those fears, they used a tactical nuke. They set new requirements and took down ANY video not meeting them.

The other thing to keep in mind is porn companies do not want any real attention other than "it's a dirty business". If anyone was to actually look into porn companies and the industry at large, they would probably find some abhorrent stuff.

The PH story was starting to catch some momentum and legs. And with legs might come attention from politicians looking for an easy scalp.

Pretty much this. From what I read, the real villain was AT&T loading the properties with debt and mismanagement before selling them. Zaslavs just a hatchet guy / Lightning rod.

Furthermore, most stations nowadays are shells that show reruns of the same 3 shows the majority of the days

The movies quality and even the fact that it's a LGBT-focused movie is largely irrelevant in the face that it's an adult-oriented comedy released in 2022. That's effectively a theatrical market that was nearly dead before COVID and extremely dead after it.

Here is the crazy thing, despite the fact the movie uncategorically bombed, it's still one of the highest-grossing adult-oriented comedies of the year.

Like don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are people who didn't see it because they are homophobes, but even in a world where homophobia didn't exist, this movie would still have bombed.

The thing about adult oriented comedies dying as a niche is that there's no drought of them on TV and streaming. Movies used to be THE medium for them. Now... what's the point when there's 50 TV shows and 40 streaming shows that serve the niche?

So it's not so much the genre died as it is there's literally no reason to see one in theaters. Same with rom coms. Unless your movie is phenomenal or can justify a theater experience, there's no point not waiting.

the marketing stunk because investors knew it was a bomb lol

But then why release it in theaters?

The strategy behind this movie is so perplexing. They marketed it terribly, but then they stuck it in theaters when it would've been at home on streaming? What was the goal here?

Furthermore like he said, rom coms with big leads aren't doing great at theaters either. Probably because there's an absolute glut of them on streaming services and there's really no need to see a rom com on the big screen. Like if there was ever a genre that could go straight to home and lose absolutely nothing, it's rom coms. Again, I'm not sure what the strategy was here other than to burn money. Just absolutely perplexing
