Cuba was forced to take authoritarian steps because the alternative was the United States running the entire country for the benefit of US consumers. Kinda hard to have a hands-off approach to the gov selecting its leadership when there's an enormous empire to your north looking to secure cheap agriculture.

Do they still need to be authoritarian? Like they arrest people for criticizing the government apparently, and have complete control over the media at least that's what I've read.

Honestly, I like Souls-style games too. These God of War haters would tell someone to not play a Souls if they don't like it as is, but they'll tell you any game that has lots of linearity or story is objectively terrible because it isn't their cup of tea.

Pretty sure a lot of people think Bloodborne is the best thing ever so not sure what your point is? Personally I have no issue with linearity or story, I just found GoW 2018 to become a slog. Plus the story wasnt even that good.

Neither were the best game of 2022 anyway. Freedom Planet 2, and Spark the electric Jester 3 were the best games of the year.

Naw you arguing in bad faith or didnt get far enough. Combat is great though its crap early on because it's designed to be less clunky until you level up. You can say that's bad design in your opinion, but once you level up it feels great and it's a lotta fun especially compared to the crap combat of The Witcher and Elder Scrolls games. Those never feel good.

Why so much cutscene bullshit when no one plays these games for story? I remember this being an issue with the Bayonetta games too but these fucking cutscenes really hamper the pacing and make these games less fun to replay especially when you have forced walk and talk sections and such. People play this for gameplay, it's not like with Naughty Dog games where people mainly play for story and cinematics. It just seems like a waste of resources and only makes the game experience less refined. Scripted moments are fine but pacing is important with action games imo.

Also why they keep throwing in Quick time events? Nobody likes that shit, especially when they arent expected.

Far as painting goes, Photoshop, Adobe Fresco, Clip Studio, and I guess Affinity Photo are about as industry standard as it gets. But yes, those do cost money.

Clip Studio is at least, like, $8/mo I think. So you could test that and see how you feel about it.

Otherwise, it's as was noted above. Krita and GIMP. I think there's a few other options.

I think Paint Tool SAI is free? I haven't used it in years so I don't know its status today.

Also, a simple Google search reveals another program called Fire Alpaca. Give those a look.

I'm in the same camp, been using photoshop. Gimp is a reasonable free alternative.

I see. I mostly doing this more as a hobby, maybe more if I get better at it but I dont know if I'll ever need anything too fancy.
