Cleared P9S last night. People were not kidding when they said that getting past Levinstrike means you've basically cleared the entire fight. I'd do the mechanics for Levinstrike pretty consistently, but there'd always be some party members in PF screwing it up.

... So I joined a clear party despite never seeing anything past the two raidwides after Levinstrike Summoning.
We cleared on our first pull.

Kinda sucks having to lie about prog points just to get a competent group of people that can actually do the mechanics. But that's Party Finder for ya, I suppose

I think PF just needs to learn the easy strats for Levinstrike. That's still my current prog point, but I've gotten downvoted enough times on Reddit for posting inefficient strategies to learn what the best strategies are for resolving it lol

Defamation is way simpler to resolve than it seems.

Randomly party up for EX6 at 1 AM? Make it to enrage on the last pull of the first instance, clear the entire thing on the third pull of the second instance. Somehow.

Partying up for Zurvan Unreal at any moment in time? Everyone keeps dying to Soar for a tethers prog party, and when we finally get to tethers, nobody pre-positions, unmarked players get hit by Wave Cannon, the tank keeps going the wrong direction, some jumpy DPS is going way out of melee range, nobody communicates, etc.

Tried to do it last tier, but never even cleared P5S because I was getting frustrated at tanks who wouldn't properly mitigate the tankbusters.

The P12 theme is so good. Never thought I'd be into that kind of music, but it slaps.

(Anabaseios Spoilers, don't click until you've cleared the entire normal tier and finished the quest) I thought it was just a fun little callback that they included a dialogue option for Ultima, the High Seraph. I always wondered whether or not the High Seraph and the spell Ultima were in any way connected, but from my understanding, the lore denied any connection. But... a YouTube comment pointed out to me that the xylophone(?) countermelody in One Amongst the Weary, the P9/P10 theme, is eerily similar to one used in Ultima, the High Seraph's theme.

It's such a small thing, but I am unreasonably excited for that option that adds new items to the last slot in the inventory.

Ever since I watched WeskAlber's video on inventory management, I've been able to maintain a relatively clean inventory, and this little option will only help further.

But of course, my most anticipated QoL feature is role icons and names appearing in the chatbox and in duties.

I don't remember what it was that specifically pinged us, but we just knew that Peaf was acting like a very informed player. I remember saying multiple times in chat, "Peaf knows too much" which is why we went for him on N2 (but also we were desperate and wanted the game to be shaken up so that we didn't just get back-to-back, which ended up happening anyway lol)

Naw, the setup was fun. We just got facerolled, but honestly, it was a cool setup to try and play around. Seems all of the scum on both sides simply knew too much for their own good and got bit by it haha

I know this is going to be the musings of a crazed living dead, but hear me out.

Can someone point out how much Lea has interacted with Death and especially Peaf?

Did no one else find it extremely weird that Lea didn't come after me immediately today? She was trying to back off of me and pursue other targets.

G Corp is severely outnumbered by town, especially with their Ninja dead. G Corp needs the Mishima Zaibatsu as an extra night kill to give them the best chance of victory. G Corp thinks that I am Heihachi, when I am really just a lonesome townie who caught the wrong end of the stick. If they were convinced that I am part of the Mishima Zaibatsu, they likely tried to keep me alive at the start of the day.

This game is town's to win. There has simply been too much strife between father and son (and son's son). G Corp has been pulling the strings from the start. Should I fall, heed my words and look upon the past with the information you now wield, for this is fated retribution.

IGCD, join me. Together, we shall bring G Corp to its knees.

I just want to point out that Ulti suiciding into Lea in particular instead of anyone else was because maybe he genuinely thought Lea was scum. Perhaps for a good reason.

I mean, the Mishima Zaibatsu killed Peaf out of nowhere. And given that Wallz knew that Anna Williams was somewhere out there (and a quick Google search shows that Anna is part of G Corp), the Zaibatsu at the very least probably had a good idea that there was another scum team. Which likely makes them very keen to find stuff that looks amiss or clearly informed, allowing them to have a decent intuition on which players are actually their rival faction.

You could argue that the Zaibatsu day scanned Peaf and that's why they killed him, but that still begets the question of: Why? Why Peaf? No one else suspected him of being scum IIRC.

The scum teams are able to see things that we don't. It may be worth looking into what the dead scum players' reads were, especially the Zaibatsu's since they were down a player already going into Day 2.

I do think it's in our best interests to lynch G Corp so that they can't kamikaze into Plum, who is at the core of all our guaranteed victory strats.

Since Death is likely part of the Zaibatsu, I'm open to lynching Lea.

If you'd like a more specific thing to respond to, I'd be curious in hearing you explain why you thought 6 Vanillas was "too many" in 17 before knowing more about the setup being two scum teams. You put forth an argument you felt pretty strongly on about Peaf being the first to claim Vanilla there, even though I'd consider you to be an early Vanilla claim as well.

Oh, I read the entire thing. But given that everyone and their mother thinks I'm scum this game, I find it more useful to prove myself with scum hunting and furthering discussion than arguing against every point people have raised against me. Unless there's a blatant misunderstanding, but I don't think there was anything you necessarily misunderstood from me, as far as I remember at least. The circumstances just make me looky shady; I get that. Can't really do much but navigate around getting dealt a bad hand, but I am town.

If I'm being quite honest, once Lopen revealed his scan got stolen, I was expecting at least one other information/scanning role, and then some other, weaker roles, given that roleblocker flipped and a role thief was confirmed (and at the time I thought they belonged to the same faction, too). I couldn't have been further from the truth with how today has panned out in terms of claims, so perhaps I called it a bit too soon with thinking the number of vanillas in this setup was too much. But I mean... was I wrong? Two of the claimed Vanillas, Wallz and Peaf, flipped scum. Vanilla is always a staple scum fake claim, so I was a little on edge when plenty of people were claiming Vanilla in succession, and so eagerly, too. I suppose you could say it was my paranoia talking when I made that remark, really.

So our vanilla roster is:

I could be convinced on anyone here, especially Abacus who I completely forgot about until I looked at the player list specifically to make sure I didn't forget any vanillas >_>

Okay yeah. Doctor, Death Stopper, Bouncer, BP is a LOT of ways to stop double night kills from going off, and a Backup to bring one of those back if they get lynched or shot as well? It's POSSIBLE that the game is balanced around two scum teams trying to get past a lot of protection, but it seems unlikely that all this is true.

Technically Bouncer, and the second part of Death Stopper don't actually stop the kills from happening, just redirect them in their own way. Doctor and BP are the ones that actually stop the kills from happening. Does BP exist with Full Time Doctor and One-Use Doctor in the game, alongside the two redirects? (classifying bodyguard as a self-redirect here)

Obviously I'm self-interested here, but BP seems the one that throws off the balance. This is all kind of useless role meta though. I think it's enough to say there's too much protection claimed, and I'm most likely to suspect Red as the odd one out.

The real quirk of this setup is that Doctor and Bouncer can target each other and be completely invincible if scum doesn't have a roleblocker to shut down Bouncer or a strongman to pierce through.

Nonetheless, I agree that Red's claim is fishiest of all the protection here.

I say we leave Plum, Isquen, and Dumey alone for now. Those three will resolve themselves if any of them end up dead at any point. So either we focus on the Vanillas or focus on the remaining power roles in the form of Red, MZero, and Corrik.

Would it be possible that G Corp has another roleblocker? That's the only way I could see all of this protection being possible in this setup. Otherwise, yeah, I'm a little suspicious of how much protection there is here that scum can't deal with without a roleblocker. Or in Bulletproof's case, Strongman.

In a nutshell, I choose a person at night. If they are shot, I save them from death. I am told if my action was successful, but not if I actually successfully saved someone or not. Once a successful save happens, it basically is a bodyguard. I die instead of the target the next successful time.

Thus, basically, 1 use doc save, 1 use bodyguard.

... I have to admit, Corrik, out of all the town power roles that have claimed so far, this one seems the least believable. And yet, I think your demeanor today has been enough to carry you as a town presence.

I can see why you thought there wasn't a doctor in this game. Your role is rather quirky in the sense that there is very little odds of you being able to get both the doc save and the bodyguard save in one game.

So we've got... Doctor, Bouncer, Death Stopper, and Bulletproof. Four roles that can shut down scum kills without a strongman modifier, of which there is only one. Roleblocker counters all but one, whereas Role Thief only shuts down Doctor and Death Stopper.

... Actually, reading Role Thief's description, does it actually block non-scanning roles? Something smells fishy here.

2 of the last 3 scum are likely godfathers.

We don't necessarily know that, but if MZero pulls up a guilty scan of any kind, it could help.

There's no way scum can break through a network of Doc -> Watcher -> Bouncer -> Doc without sacrificing a dude to take the fall deliberately, anyway. So it's not like there's going to be any other townies left to back up unless G Corp really feels like sacrificing one of their own to break that cycle of immunity.

No other town power has flipped. With Plum, Isquen, and Hb protecting each other, might as well expedite things by backing up the Cop. Seems logical to me.

Hmm... Okay fair point. Though given Wallz' Star Trek game, I'd like to believe he'd be analytical enough to develop a more elaborate fake claim if he and Hb were on the same team.

That being said, there's also how that role fits into the hierarchy set by Ctes that Corrik pointed out. Bouncer can get roleblocked, but it can't get role thief'd. There's no town-sided counterplay to Bouncer other than lynching it or if the other scum team gets their strongman. Would one of the scum teams really be that stacked? I still don't think it's plausible for Hb/Dumey to be aligned with Mishima Zaibatsu, the same faction with the roleblocker.

If Bouncer exists and it's scum aligned, knowing that you and MZero hadn't claimed until now (and MZero is still unclaimed), it'd be a risk fake claiming that role and not selecting your intended target.

So why would scum truthfully target Lopen or IGCD? Perhaps Hb was Mishima Zaibatsu and saw Lopen looking really good after the Ulti lynch and targeted him, perhaps hoping G Corp would inadvertently shoot or role thief their own. But IGCD? It's a random choice.

Also doesn't make sense for Hb/Dumey to be G Corp aligned because why not just Bounce to whoever they intended to kill? If the person is dead, any redirected actions toward them will essentially just fizzle on a dead guy.

If Hb/Dumey is scum, they'd have to be Mishima Zaibatsu. But I'm inclined to believe Hb was simply acting on impulse against Lopen and is town aligned. That feels like the more sensible explanation.

Noctis as Bouncer is incredibly badass. I'll believe it.

Hb targeting Lopen and IGCD checks out, too, given his attitude toward Lopen and IGCD's sheeping of him. If you're still catching up on the game, then I doubt that's something you or your scum team could've made up unless Hb was planning to claim that from the start. And those targets feel a little too on the nose for Hb to have prepared a fake claim for.

Actually, thinking about it... why did the Mishima Zaibatsu shoot Peaf? Did they think he was town when other people who were seen as townier at the time (such as Lea) were clear shots after Isquen and Lopen both claimed power roles?

Death said that scum teams this small should be aware that another scum team exists. I don't think that logic makes any sense inherently... which makes me think Death perspective slipped there. If both scum factions were aware of each other from the start, then Mishima Zaibatsu being down two players probably makes them more willing to hunt for the opposite faction. Hence, Peaf's death.

I'm willing to believe Death is the last Mishima Zaibatsu member (assuming Ulti's slip against Sbell truly indicates that each team is only three members) and Lea and Red are G-Corp.

Because it is ridiculous. The only reason anyone would suspect Corrik right now is if they're trying to push a mislynch.

Corrik has not been trying at all Day 1 and Day 2, I'll concede that. I initially suspected him because he claimed town power but didn't act like it at all. But you also can't look at all of the analysis he posted today and tell me he's not town. This is Corrik in his town element right now. And you seem frustrated that Corrik has awoken and is no longer an easy mislynch, Lea.

Unless you want to explain why you don't think he's town, but also don't think he's scum, either? You've got a lot of content from Corrik to analyze today.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Corrik suspected I'm part of the Mishima Zaibatsu (which is wrong but that's beside the point). Corrik also said that G Corp killed Ben. Ergo, I can't be scum according to Corrik, because then I'd have to be part of G Corp or the Mishima Zaibatsu killed Ben. One of those viewpoints has to give in order to justify me as scum.

Yeah, I figured Ben was killed to frame me. Given how virtually nobody has thought of me as town this game, I wonder if I'm being set up as a mislynch because the two scum teams think I'm part of their rival faction.

That makes me lean more toward Red and Lea. I don't think Death has been pushing my lynch at all, so if the plan was to make me a fall guy, he's clearly not in on it.
