Unfortunately, at least not yet. Nothing on the list that I really wanted, plus I have a bunch of vinyl yet to play (one is the new TMR Vault Elephant mono release, so I wanna listen to the original stereo immediately before), stayed up until 4am watching the Coachella streams, going to an 11 day music fest in July and gonna buy a bunch if merch, etc etc etc, so I don't wanna tempt myself by heading out. The fact that the weather is gross helps.

You don't think it's "As good as it used to be" because you have no sentimental attachment to the music that is being released today.

It's been written about hundreds of times. The music of our youth makes us think of our youth. You attach the music to a simpler time. You have no fondness to today's music, even if it's in a similar genre to what you used to listen to, because as you get older you don't relate it to life events like you did when you were younger.

So you don't even bother to seek out anything new, because you rather the comfort of your "youth music" and how it makes you feel.

People are literally risking dying to be at live concerts these days >_>
I've had four vaccine shots and will continue to get them as they are released. I actually did get COVID last year from a festival (most likely the Rage Against the Machine day since I literally had other people's sweat on me from being at the front rail), and it kinda sucked, but the vaccines did the job and I just slept dozed on my couch for a week.

After a readily accessible vaccine has been available for long enough, I don't feel my life is in danger, and generally I'm statistically safe to do one of the things I enjoy most in life.

Why it isn't as big as it once was, I don't know. Maybe lack of promotion now or something, and a lot of people in the rock music world can't move on past the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Cultural zeitgeist changes over time. Rock had a solid 50 years as a dominant Western genre, but societal and interest changes happen, technology evolves which alters music, etc. Polyphonic has a great video essay on the brief rise and fall of disco, for example. Hip hop and rap became the dominant genres in at the turn of the millennium, which was also when a lot of the world was now able to access whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. Promotion or lack thereof is a given as part of the equation because capitalism and money, but we were just able to watch the transition happen in real time.

Like you said, rock is still around and there are lots of great rock acts, it's just not the dominant anymore. And that's cool too.

I just wonder what young people are still picking up guitar to learn.
While I assume that still happens because humans have always wanted physical, acoustic instruments, I figure more young people would be gravitating to synths or iPad/Macbook for music creation/learning. Absolutely no idea though.

Becuase music is more omnipresent and available than the past, it may seem like people care about it less. Certainly not the case though.

I buy a shit ton of vinyl and cds, and our local record store has had a loyal customer base for 50 years. We also attend 40-80k festivals every year (front rail for life) and just bought passes for this year yesterday. Coachella weekend 1 starts tomorrow and they do a free livestream on YouTube with three streams; definitely suggest watching if you wanna see that yes, people still enjoy music, and to maybe find something you might like. Stoked to see Blondie and Gorillaz' sets while chilling on my couch.

If you can't relate at all to new things, then you're the one lacking life experience. By the time you've realized that, it's probably too late. You don't have to dive right into it, but it's easy to draw parallels.
There's a big difference in relating to new things and relating to young people's interests.

Wouldn't really disagree with that - having coworkers, old friends that I rarely hang with, and living with a wonderful partner is generally enough for me, plus being around and vibing with people but generally not talking to them at large music festivals - but it's a lot harder to connect with decades of experience in the difference.

You have a really reductive view of young people. Treating merely interacting with young people as if it means youre trying to pretend to be one is also pretty silly.
I'm not a social person, I'm not generally interested in making new friends, and all my experience with young people shows I have little in common with the ones I've met - coworkers, strangers at music festivals, friends of friends, etc. My sister is 11 years younger than me and we have so very little in common. Not a judgement on their interests, just that I'm generally not into things they would be. Also, I'm mostly responding to the meme, which is literally an older person pretending to be a younger one.

They have always been an entirely separate universe than the MCU. They referenced the MCU a couple times but are totally distinct because of studio head disagreements.

Disney Marvel has carried over D'Onofrio, Cox, and now Berthnal but the characters are absolutely different than the Netflix versions, made easier because the multiverse split. Since Disney has taken over television production and developed Disney+, the Netflix shows are done forever and will be at best material to pull from going forward.

Ehh, I dont see how thats much different for relating to literally anybody else on the planet, considering we wont ever interact with almost the entirety of the eight billion that exist now. Empathy varies of course from person to person, although your take seems nihilistic or possibly misanthropic.
It's not anything like relating to a person that's alive, because you have no idea what dead people wanted, unless they wrote a will that explicitly states it. This is all your perceived idea of what ancestors wanted for the future offspring.

More importantly, I absolutely do not understand letting anyone who is not directly involved influence major life decisions, alive or dead. Makes no sense. Empathize with their belief - if you actually know it, sure - but that's doesn't mean you have to live that way.

Also, empathy does not mean feeling that past generations want you to have kids because life was harder.
