Elixirs, they're precious and must be saved for a emergency that never comes and you still have every one you can find after beating the game. While a sage is powerful it does have the down side of having less magic charges then a magus, devout or summoner.

Not surprising it gives FF14 nostalgia as that raid is based on FF3 and meant to give FF3 nostalgia. Although it's a bit of a pain, you can turn random encounters off to make a run back to the airship to heal. There's still one more optional dungeon left you can get to from the crystal tower.

There's a dark knight village you can get to now that would of been nice to of gotten to much sooner. Like after getting the job. But no, devs want to make the job useless until five minutes before the final crystal.

Ninjas can equip anything and can get strength and agility to 99. Sages can use up to level 8 white and black magic as well as summon. So yeah that seems op.

Weapons that drain health are over powered. Duel wielding them heals for half the damage done. Those weapons being blood sword for knight, blood lance for dragoon and orichalcum for thief. They made soloing much easier once you get them.

So I just beat the Elite Four and Champion, bringing peace back to the world for another thousand years. Jobs used are Red Mage until second crystal and mini sections. Knight until third crystal. Thief until the fourth crystal when it couldn't out last enemies anymore with Orichalcum knives. Dragoon and Ninja for the Elite Four and Champion.

Final set up for each job used.

LVL 57 Dragoon JL 99
Blood Lance x2
Protect Ring
Ribbon
Reflective Mail

The goal here is to prioritize magic defense over physical defense for the Dragoon as everyone the Dragoon fights mostly uses magic. Strategy for them is to have the Dragoon jump, turn auto battle on and have some pop corn.

LVL 57 Ninja JL 1
Crystal Shield x2
Genji Gloves
Crystal Helm
Black Garb

The Ninja was only used for the Two Headed Dragon. THD only uses physical attacks and hits to hard for Dragoon to out last it with the healing from blood lance. So with Ninja I prioritized getting as much physical evasion possible. Strategy was put the Ninja in the back row, start the fight with a turtle shell for some more defense, throw shurikens and use Elixirs when needed. It's no wonder why everyone says Ninja is so strong. Even at JL1 throwing shurikens does 5-7k.

I'm not so done with FF3 yet. I decided to do a solo character. So far it's been mostly grinding for job levels for jobs that might be useful, but progress goes fast when you turn encounters off.

Just beat FF3, finished at level 52. Probably would of had to grind levels if I hadn't been swapping everyone to a Viking just before leveling up. I miss the characters having their own personalty from the 3D version, but the flow of the game is much better in the PR. When I changed the White Mage into a Bard I didn't expect to keep using one, but Bard makes for a good heal bot with a occasional buff to the party.

Is it just me or does the PR version of FF3 feel shorter then the DS version? I just got the 4th crystal and wrapped up all the other side quest before going into the final dungeon properly. The final party is Dragoon, Dark Night, Summoner and Bard. I might change the Summoner into a Sage if the Bard can't keep up with healing, but that hasn't been a problem yet.

I get not having the energy to do anything when sick. Just got over something last month that lasted a couple weeks.

Back to FF3. I just got the third set of jobs and I'd like to know who the hell decided half the new jobs shouldn't get any new equipment. I wanted to use a Dark Night, Bard and Geomancer. There's no weapons for Dark Knight while Bard and Geomancer can only use early game armor. They were frail enough as White/Black Mages, but they at least didn't get 2 shot in random battles.

Bump the 3rd.

Finally done with FF2 and now on to FF3. FF3 is the one I looked forward to the most as I only played the DS version. Wouldn't of taken so long with FF2 if I didn't decide to make ultima good but maxing all weapon levels and spell levels for Firion.

Forgot to mention in my last post, Evoker is basically a summoner that has a different effect with what they summon. For example instead of Ifrit using it's signature hell fire, it will either use a healing spell on the party or a single target fire spell.

Assuming Thief wasn't buffed in the DS version, it makes for a good party member. I've seen people say thief was bad in the DS version, but that was thanks to there being a long stretch where there's no new weapons for a thief until after the third crystal.

Another bump.

Just got the platinum for FF1. Warmech was the last one I needed. It took two and a half hours to encounter taking the party from level 50 to 97 and it ran away, still counted for the trophy. Who ever decided it should be able to run away should be fired and black listed from game development.

Well off to FF2 now.

PS5. I got all 6 games on it. I already platinumed FF1. Id like to platinum each game, but my concern is missing a single missable enemy on the bestiary, so we will see. Im going to take FF2 & FF3 much slower than I took FF1, so who knows the pace that Ill be playing it.

Also, for what it is worth, I previously platinumed FF7 & FF10 as well. Doing it with FF10 was such a grind-fest, maxing out the sphere grid to bear perfection

Well, its a must-play for anyone who is that committed to the series, absolutely. But if someone were to ask me about which games in the series were a must-play, FF2 wouldnt get any mention.
4-6 are the ones you really need to watch out for. Those ones have places you can never return to.

the Thief in Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster works very well, much better than the Nintendo Entertainment System's Thief. Some people believe that the new Thief is more effective than the Warrior. The new Thief delivers hits more hits per round than the Warrior, has higher accuracy and evade, and can flee battle very well
Thief/Ninja has been fixed since the GBA version. I believe they were buffed by gaining +5 to base accuracy. I played the GBA version a few months ago and the thief/ninja out damaged the fighter/warrior up until the last couple dungeons. By then they both were doing 8 hits, but the warrior had stronger weapons that the ninja couldn't equip. The ninjas damage wasn't to much lower and being able to cast Haste and Temper is far more useful then the warrior being able to use up to level 3 white magic.

Everyone now automatically gains 50 hp after every few fights so you no longer need to worry about raising it up

Stats no longer go down
And you can switch your on screen character

The real way to get overpowered in ff2 was always using the swap spell on weak enemies
Doing that raises all your stats every single time in every version of the game
50 HP is a lot to gain. That feature has been around since the GBA version, but they only gained HP equal their stamina.
