Elon has money, but he makes unsubstantiated claims cause people to buy into unwarranted hype.

He flip-flops between positions as he tried backing out of the Twitter deal then says:
"That is why I bought Twitter, I didn't do it because it would be easy, I didn't do it to make more money. I did it to try and help humanity, whom I love."

As the pinnacle of capitalism is to earn money (no problem there), the average citizen equates someone's ability to amass wealth as an indicator of their altruism, intellect, and honesty. You don't have to be very smart to make money...just have access to capital, connections, and ambition. I'm not downplaying Elon's accomplishments, just saying his access to billions of dollars doesn't mean he's suited to lead anything IMO.

Kudos to clothing brands standing up against hate speech.

I decided to research labor conditions for several brands and stumbled across KnowTheChain's 2021 report. Lululemon and Adidas are ranked 1 and 2, respectively, while luxury brands scored the lowest.

The assumption is that people who purchase luxury goods mistakenly assume the workers are paid more (assuming a direct correlation between cost and wages). That is far from the case - seems the other brands purchased by the "average Joe" are more likely to disclose and improve factory conditions if it eats at their bottom line.

As some EV owners attribute their purchase to a "cleaner environment" without understanding the impact of REEs, it really hammers home the superficial fascination most people have with doing good. I'm not here to debate economic theory, but it's hard to deny that capitalism only keeps our backyard pretty if we dump the crap on someone else's

That's a valid point, Gladius_. We'll suspend disbelief, but TC's story assumes the "temp bride" is financially independent with cash flows in the black. If they have expensive taste, well, not a big benefit there at all. Lol.

Even factoring in the cost of commission, for the amount of time involved, the money is well worth it.

I'll bite. Marriage certificates cost ~$50 and filing your own divorce costs ~$500. It seems like a lot of hassle for an extra ~$1,850 (not factoring the commission). ^_^
