Boston dynamics has been doing some pretty great stuff with robots. Pair it with sufficiently advanced AI and well you've just eliminated a lot of paid labor.

Possibly, but it'd have to become a generalist as capable as any human and if that happens it'll probably collapse our entire economic system, so I'll have other more important things to worry about.

I like Dawkin's explanation of alien life. Either it's everywhere or abiogenesis was one of the most staggeringly improbable event in the universe. Can't really speak to intelligent life, though. Some throw out the Drake equation and I guess it's someone convincing, but it does seem a tad... simplistic and pulled out of thin air to really be a great argument. It's more of a thought experiment than an argument. Also it's kind of ambiguous on what people mean by intelligent life. Does it have to be at least as smart as humans or would space crows count? If space crows count then how far down the intelligence ladder can we go?

Since I moved to WA min wage jumped by 50%, the rental costs doubled pretty much across the board, food prices have almost doubled as well. Many skilled jobs that used to make a bit more then min wage, are now making only min wage (and even people that worked them for years are making that). Home health aid? Used to have to get 3 months training and started at $14 an hour or so back in 2016 (when I moved here). The training was about $800 as well.

Yeah, it's all local minimum wage increases that are causing national inflation. Surely it has nothing to do with the fact that the government spent 5 trillion that it doesn't have over the last few years to handle covid.

Generally speaking, developing with a minority of potential players in mind is a bad idea for anyone operating with a large enough budget to actually take full advantage of what top-end hardware can do. Even if PC's were to completely replace consoles, the vast majority of games would still be designed around the kind of hardware the average player will have, with very few bothering to design high settings that need hardware very few people have.

True, but on the other hand, fuck consoles for making my games stagnate. Besides, only like 5 people have PS5s at this point and no one wants the new Xbox, surely PC is catching up to next gen ownership.

Not gonna happen. Majority will always prefer the convenience of a console.

They can still have that, they'll just be running it on low settings while I'm playing it as it's meant to be played. Don't gimp my experience because their hardware can't keep up.

700s, I've never carried major debts before (car, school, house, etc...), so all I've got is paying my credit card bills. It's kind of bullshit tbh that you need to incur massive debts to get exceptional credit ratings.

That's kind of how prequels work. You know where things are going, but getting there is interesting enough to be worth telling.

Yeah you missed my tone, I think. When what it's leading to is something that you have a fondness for an interest in it can be fun to go back. When the direction it's going is a steaming dog turd purposefully rubbed on something you once loved, then it becomes something detestable.
