It's extremely subjective lol, don't read too much into it. I'm not even sure how much weight the votes carry, I think those are more of a preliminary round, in the end it's basically a bunch of fans that get together and have the final say. It's funny because in the beginning it was mostly actresses (Candler is a film critic), and there were barely any Asians, much less idols, but as time went on it became more global, it became more of a popularity contest, and apparently they're Kpop fans as well lol, so... the fans and the industry got wind of it and now everything just feeds on itself. But yeah take it with a big grain of salt, my guess is it was probably just Nancy's "turn" to win.

Happy New Year! If this one turns out as good as the last couple we're in for some treats.

I was talking about how I don't like covers but I can accept something of the SM tradition (especially since it's within the same production) of doing "Mirotic" and/or "Sorry Sorry".

This is why I bet on SM, I like their sound and they just keep giving it to me over and over.

The video sorta lacks a visual direction but makes for a decent performance/choreography video.
Chaeryeong taking over more of a track actually turned out well imo.

The image as a quartet has been decent. If the chorus of "Born To Be" was a little more thought-out, the general sound has been pretty good.

This one's much better. Yeah they're okay as four but Lia never hurt, hope she comes back soon. Their solo songs are alright also, I think Yuna's is my favorite but maybe mostly just because of her.

Alright I didn't know they would post the ep Wednesday so I went ahead and spoiled myself first... then I saw it and watched it lol. So at least I got to enjoy Nano as much as I could, even knowing she wasn't gonna make it, kinda bittersweet. And I hear you, there are some girls in the group I like but also some I could take or leave and just as many I would have preferred instead. And usually by this time I'm so emotionally invested in it all that I end up accepting and following the group no matter what but honestly this time I wasn't following that closely, like I didn't even join the Discord channel for example which I usually do. I'm glad at least Miu finally got to debut, that would have been the most devastating otherwise. I'm still curious about the group and will check it out just for what they are, I think the first (girl) group that's gone through (some) Korean style training but goes straight to JP market (not to mention of course is fully JP), correct me if I'm wrong but the boy groups were very much Kpop-style Jpop, right? I have a feeling that's what MeI will be so that's kinda interesting.

I was a big Yurina fan, too! Missing her was probably my biggest disappointment from GP, certainly from JP side.

Full agree. As I've said I'd always found something to like in their songs, like even Ringo and I can't really dislike anything they do because they're so good and I like them that much, but this is sadly their first title that I don't really like anything other than them. I don't understand why this song exists and if it didn't I wouldn't miss it. You make a good point, let's compare with aespa, specifically let's compare it to Drama. I'm not just biased because I like Drama but not this, right? Drama is a much better song... right??

I usually rather not do with switch-ups, but I thought it came into the 2nd verse really well, and then the transition at the bridge was also nice. It's an interesting 3 minutes.

I actually enjoy switch ups, ever since IGAB and before, as long as they're not too jarring and I agree these ones flow pretty well. I love it, I love the direction they've taken, in fact I like Ven Para and their stuff after better than their stuff before (which I still liked but yeah, this stuff I REALLY like).

No spoilers! I will answer Monday :)
Edit:... sorry about Rino though, I read that far. I was going to post congratulations after her jump up. She'd grown on me, too. See, there's always a shakeup when the voting consolidates. She had a really good chance. Rinon just snuck in and ninja'd everybody, I'm guessing. Anyways, MONDAY!

Wow, that's insane. I read it's close to 400k people, I think most of them very much there specially to see NJ, and that's just the live crowd. The energy must have been amazing. :)

What is going on in Kpop!? I thought nothing was gonna top 2022 for a while but apparently 2023 didn't get the memo. I Do is my favorite Gidle song ever, just love it. Itzy's been putting out some of their best stuff ever as well and again I still think they've never done any wrong. And don't you get me started on NJ!

I love Sakura's voice. Not that she has a good voice, sings/raps well or whatever, I just like it. It's different. I like that she's become more and more herself in LS. In Izone she had to take so many new things and changes, which is great but yeah. Seeing her thrive is so satisfying.

As expected, I'm satisfied with aespa. More than satisfied really, I was keeping my expectations low and I'm actually pretty happy with the final product. I mean I don't know if I'd call it my favorite cb ever or anything, but yeah. I think it's an interesting change in direction, which we were expecting after all, just weren't sure exactly how it would come out. I hope they continue to expand after this, now that they've broken out of such a contrived initial concept, I think they're one of the most versatile, biggest potential groups out there, no small part of the reason why they're arguably my favorite, this gen.

I am pretty shocked at the numbers. I was hoping they'd do well but I wasn't expecting them to set any records. I wasn't expecting anybody to beat BP so soon either, which is why I was pretty stoked when LS (barely) did it. Aespa doing it, and rather definitively at that, is just icing on the cake.

Cheers! Did you order it from some place in particular or, just online? Yeah they come with a lot of goodies but even so I always try to look for a seller that offers something extra, meaning a poster, the bigger the better, lol.

JP albums are harder to get, I always have to go to a specialty store/site and they're usually a little more expensive even just because of the shipping. Also covid restrictions were a pain recently. Once again I wish I didn't live in the world's butthole, I'd love to just walk into my favorite group's store and go on a spree.

I know I say this every time but this has really been Kepler's best cb. Like I seriously, honestly liked this one lol. Most importantly their content's been very funny.

As far as everyone knows, yeah, but who knows and then other shows had other systems going on that they could sneak in the rigging, and then like YG ended up not even making a group, the bastard. But that's survival for you, there's only x spots and everyone wishes they could shuffle in this or that contestant. We all have one or two for every show, but for example for IZONE I actually would have taken out Chaewon see, cuz for me she was just Eunbi's junior who was cute and had a good voice. So you never know, you just gotta roll with it and hope for the best I think. But yeah that makes it extra upsetting when you find out they lied about it. But it's interesting that some of the girls WERE voted in... and some were rigged in. And we'll probably never know which and that's probably best.

Also I have to say that I've come to have some newfound respect for Nmixx, musically. It's still a little too much for me but I've come to understand what they're doing and unlike some other groups which yeah no I can at least see the thought and effort that goes with them. I don't know maybe I said almost as much before, if not I should have. And now I'm even actually caring that Jinni left.

Absolutely, I wanted to cheer you on! Those are great faves, personally I was complete Sejeong trash all through Produce, IOI and gugudan. How did you like Sohye? Sohye pretty much was P101. But maybe one needs to appreciate the show just from a show perspective to like her lol...

Yeah, it's very interesting to follow idols trajectories afterwards. As for other shows, I mean just survival from back then I would suggest Mix Nine and The Unit. Also Kpop Star although you'll see mostly soloists from there, there are also many girls from groups who have appeared. And I love fromis so for me Idol School would be required lol. More recently we had Girls Planet 999 and My Teenage Girl. And yeah this year we should be getting I Land 2. But there's so many more even just for survival. I always go crazy for these shows. Actually that reminds me I have yet to watch Girls Reverse lol.

Yeah... I'm always surprised and a bit skeptical of the average GFaqs user age. I'm pretty sure it used to be lower... I think a lot of younger users have moved on/never really stayed.

I always considered it more like the emperor's new clothes. People who don't understand what the characters are saying laugh along with a laugh track because "haha, the nerd said something funny".
