The conditions for next year's pick means it'll almost certainly be a late 1st, or it's going to be a 2nd. Best case scenario for the Packers (and most unlikely) is that it's in the mid-to-late teens if the Jets narrowly miss the playoffs after collapsing late in the season.

The Jets aren't going to keep starting Rodgers if things look bleak by the midpoint of next season.

For anyone that makes it to the draft tomorrow, I can't make any promises, but if the Bills don't find a guy we like left at #7, we'd be willing to try and trade our pick (probably for either future picks, or trade back for a pick this draft plus a future pick).

Oh boy yea then I'm sure glad I spent 3 gold coins to get an extra 1,000 pesetas

Legitimately why is getting duplicates a thing, I only have 6 out of 30 charms so far and 3 of them are duplicates!

Yeah, the charms system sucks. All 4 drop tables (GGG, SSS, GGS, SSG tokens) are locked in at the start of your playthrough, so unless you get lucky early, there's a good chance you'll be making little to no use of them outside of NG+.

My only charms so far when looking through all the tables as far into the distance as I can given my current tokens have been for increased chance of extra ammo when crafting for weapons I don't use, the decreased rocket launcher cost (which I won't even use until NG+ for the infinite rocket launcher), decreased body armor repairs (I only now got to the part of the game where body armor can be purchased and probably won't want to waste money on this anyway), and the ability to resell weapons for 20% extra (only applies to the base selling value of the weapon, and I'm only going to do this at the end of the run to have more money for NG+ anyway).

I got those before I understood how the system worked, and now that I've gotten 3 stars on the first 6 shooting ranges, there's no point in getting more charms until I get to the final gallery, so I can see which use of tokens provides the most benefit. The only one that I could currently unlock that seemed particularly good for this playthrough is the rhinoceros beetle to sell healing items for double the usual price, but I've already sold so many by this point (eggs, fish, vipers), there's not much point in unlocking it now, and I have no way of knowing if it'll show up farther down in a different table that provides more beneficial charms anyway, so no use in potentially wasting tokens now.

I think there's plenty of reason to think that Rodgers's attitude has the potential to be toxic to a team full of young talent given how he treated young players literally last year.

This was always a non-story that certain people in the media tried their best to make a narrative out of. I think the criticisms of him not showing up for OTAs are fair (particularly when he was going to need to lean on rookie WRs last season) - he seems to think that just because they don't provide him any personal benefit that it doesn't matter.

But veteran players, especially the QB, making it clear to rookies what's required for the team to be successful is not some crazy toxic approach, and it wasn't like it was made out to be by some where he was overly harsh on them 24/7. He went out of his way at times to compliment Doubs, Watson, and Toure in interviews, but he also acknowledged the obvious reality of the team's struggles last season. That's not any different than what any successful veteran QB would or should have done in that situation.

The only thing I would have been worried about in trading for him from the Jets' perspective is how much he even wants to play, but it seemed pretty clear from the McAfee interview that he's motivated to play for them. So at least for next season, I'm expecting him to light it up.

Granted, he's 39 and not very mobile anymore, so he needs to stay healthy and they need to be able to protect him, but outside that I expect him to be rock solid next season.

Crescent-Moon posted...
And let's not delude ourselves, he'd be no better than the 6th or 7th best QB in the AFC, but he'd act like he was their god and demand to be treated as such.

But that's like... half of your posts (particularly this one) in NFL threads.

The other half are usually pretty intelligent or at least hide kernels of truth in them. Not trying to crap on you hard or anything - just amused by your wording.

If the Jets can protect Rodgers, they'll actually be a legit contender next season.

I get that Jets fans are addicted to losing, and the fear that might change because someone they personally hate for dumb reasons has decided he wants to play for them next season is going to override the rational parts of their brains, but if I was a Jets fan, I'd be excited that we will actually be relevant for the first time since Rex Ryan.

It would be one thing if the Jets had an even slightly promising QB situation, but they obviously don't and this gives them by far the best shot at winning a championship of the options available.

And I get wanting Lamar instead, but then you're stuck long term with a guy who hasn't had any playoff success (also assuming he even decides he wants to play when his team gets there) and has missed a ton of games in the back halves of the past two seasons. So if you're looking at making the playoffs more long term, but not having much success there, he's a better option. Not if you want to win it all though.

I mean, the league has steadily been moving towards calling that kind of thing more - I doubt they reverse course.

Yeah, I have no doubt they won't actually change it, but just saying if there was any consistency at all on how these things are decided, it would be, and it would actually be a good change this time.

Didn't say it was wrong! Just that one replay they showed didn't seem like much contact to me, but I could have missed something. It was obviously contact though and you can not do that.

It was 100% coming and I knew it live just it's that gray area to me where I feel like that wasn't a penalty when I first started watching the game 20 years ago but is now.

15 yards for barely pushing a guy who's slightly out of bounds is way too significant a penalty for the infraction tbh. It's not like the defender has his head down in that situation.

If the league can change rules because the Bills can't play defense in the playoffs, they should be able to change this after it decided the game.

Game's not over since the Bills are capable of scoring quickly. Them getting defensive stops seems like an impossible hurdle though. McDermott should have gone for it on 4th and 2 instead of punting last possession.

I'd have to see it again, but you should still be able to infer if you can see where the ball definitively wasn't that a TD was scored if there's no way for the ball to be behind the goal line.

There are just no dominant teams in this year's NFL, so this means nothing for next week imo. The only results that would be surprising this weekend would be Ravens or Dolphins winning, and that's only because they're starting backup QBs.

Hard to see Buffalo turning the ball over this much though next week if they survive.

Only a desperate joke franchise will give Lamar Jackson a huge contract if he sits for an NFL playoff game when he's healthy enough to go. He's getting franchise tagged by Baltimore for at least next year if he doesn't go on a run in this year's playoffs anyway (unless Baltimore gives up on him).

If he doesn't play well against the Bengals, he has a built-in excuse. If he doesn't play at all, that's two years in a row where his team misses out on the playoffs because he can't play in the back half of the year.

I don't think it makes sense for him to sit out unless the injury is way more severe than what was reported, or he really wants to get out of Baltimore and doesn't care about playing meaningful games for the rest of his career.

Was open all game and easily converted again. Can't complain though because Tua gifted this chance to us to begin with.

Wish the Rams won so the Lions were playing with something to lose, but hard to see this team beating San Fran next week anyway. Hopefully not the end of Rodgers' career, but could be.

Honestly, the Packers don't deserve to win this game. They feel like a team that's fine everything in their power to gift wrap the game away.

This is how they lost to the Giants, the Commanders, and the Lions earlier this season. They've reverted back to form. Hoping they get a little lucky at the end here and pull it out, but not super optimistic.

They had barely made it past halfway through the 1st quarter though. You can't really decide a game based on 8-9 minutes of play. If Buffalo agreed to concede the game or something, then I guess you could.

Wouldn't really be fair to the Ravens, but at least the upside would be only they would get screwed in that scenario.
