That was from a dead body? Well in that case I guess it does sound suspicious. What peeved me about this is how impossible it sounds that Hamas would actually have their guys carrying documents describing their entire plans in explicit detail that could be understood by the IDF. The IDF even said that these guys are highly trained, intelligent professionals. Why in the hell would they carry such info that could fall into enemy hands should they happen to die or be captured? That's like cartoon villain stuff.

To be fair, you still don't know if you've seen video evidence. That's a seven second clip from a biased source; it doesn't prove anything. Everyone hear needs to keep in mind that propaganda is a two-sided affair when it comes to war. "They beheaded babies" vs "they attacked evacuees". I'm not saying the claim is false, but I am saying that such claims should be taken with a grain of salt.

The point is beheading is a deliberate act that promotes a specific emotional response, and that's why it was put forward in connection with every effort to excuse Israel for what they're doing/about to do. In reality yes, killing babies is the worst thing you can do, no matter how you do it, but there's been a long history of people reacting genocidally to allegations that the other side bayoneted babies, took them out of incubators, smashed them on the floor etc. People universally react differently to those kind of things and you know that.

This is not to clear Hamas. What interest does anyone here have in supporting a terrorist group? My interest here is in accurate information, thinking rationally, and not supporting a genocide in progress based on unsourced, unconfirmed allegations.

I understand it can be propaganda...I just think it's not a particularly useful propaganda because the base information (some babies burnt and be headed) is sooo bad already. At least, not a particularly useful propaganda to spend so much of the discourse arguing over.

I'm sure there's a class of people that are like "I wasn't too mad when it was just some babies burnt and beheaded, but when I learned it was 40? Oh boy. Now I'm livid." But I don't think that group is many. I don't know man, it's good to pick your battles, and this ain't it.
