That's the problem. Luke was never a badass. Only kiddies who were 8 when they watched the OT thought so, and they didn't understand his character. He ends his final battle in the trilogy begging for help and dying. Hes not a badass. Hes not anakin, hes not cad Bane. Hes a farm boy with a good heart.

He was definitely meant to be a badass in Return of the Jedi, and it's honestly to the movie's discredit that they don't go far enough to really subvert that in your mind's eye. It's true that at the end, he ultimately wins the battle through faith and love of an undeserving person, which is the opposite of the action hero badass he was at the beginning of the movie, but those two points always felt disconnected to me.

The titty milk thing is one of the best things in new Star Wars. People forget that these movies are supposed to be gross, probably because of the pitiful showing of the prequels and the pall they hang over the franchise, and now one of the milder bits of ickiness in the series is a poster child for whinging at them. Luke gets stuffed into the smellier ass cream cheese innards of a smelly ass space horse in Empire Strikes Back and it's delightful. In Return of the Jedi, I mean, the most memorable part of the movie is Jabba's palace, which is just a cavalcade of gross monsters being icky and eating eachother. They fall into a trash compacter in the first movie and Luke gets dragged into the smelly trash water by a trash monster tentacle, and earlier there was a dude with a butt mouth. The sequels needed more gross aliens.

I have a recurring nightmare of worms crawling through my arm, but it's less a "oh god the horror" nightmare and more of an "ewww wtf not this shit again" kind of nightmare. I think I'm so jaded that my subconscious is having trouble keeping up.

8 1/2. The experience I had the first three or four times I watched it (I watched it over and over some 20 years ago) is an experience I'll never duplicate. It was like opening my eyes for the first time and seeing the distance.

Perhaps you should choose another path of argument, here. Phantasy Star IV is an all time favorite. Peak 16 bit RPG, especially in terms of its storytelling (those manga cut scenes!) and visual textures. Absolutely spoiled me, in those departments, when I first played it as a youngster, and only a few times afterwards (the Lunar: Complete games, Skies of Arcadia) gave me a similar sustained high. The gameplay isn't revolutionary, but it's peak old school turn based shit - much better polished than, say, your Lufias and Breaths of Fire. Not insanely difficult but capable of kicking your ass if you're not prepared, and sometimes even if you are.

Hell, I love the soundtrack too - janky ass Genesis music at its peak. I remember waking up one Friday morning on a snow day, popping the game in, and letting Motavia Town play for like 30 minutes while I made everyone breakfast, and now I associate waking up and seeing snow with the desert town music of a 30 year old video game. I'm pretty biased obviously but I'm sure Phantasy Star IV could beat up your dad.

I like Star Ocean 2 also, and not so much Star Ocean 3 (though I might play it again if there were a well polished remake, hint hint), and never played any of the others.

"Thought crimes" is literally stuff from a fictional book, and thus not real, and also an unquantifiable value judgment that is not backed up with any reasoning.

I re-submit the notion that imprisoning white supremacists is an actual (not fictional) good idea that should be done, is an essential part of making the world better, and also cool to do.

Commiting crimes against the rich should be treated with far less severity than commiting crimes against the poor, and crimes against corporations should be treated as something next to non-offenses by comparison.

I've only seen Coffy and Foxy Brown, both movies fucking rule, and I'm eager for the inevitable 4K Blu-ray edition of each (inevitable at this point, as with every 60s, 70s and 80s cult genre classic).

If you like those movies, I would recommend Jack Hill's other great classics. Those two are his big blaxploitation films, but he also made Spider Baby (a real gem that is sort of the sweet natured freak missing link between The Munsters and Texas Chain Saw Massacre), Pit Stop (a racing drama that punches well above its weight, probably his masterpiece), The Switchblade Sisters (another feminist cult classic, cool as fuck, has the best eyepatch ever put to screen), and The Swinging Cheerleaders (easily the best cheerleader movie, deeply underrated because, you know, it's a cheerleader movie and everyone dunks on them).

This. Parenthood is an obligation, not a privilege that you can indulge in. Not that it should be any more difficult, far from it, but treating your kid with dignity and respect and giving them autonomy as they grow does not require any effort beyond overcoming your own idiotic prejudices, something which you are obligated to do even if you don't have a child.

I haven't read anywhere anything credible on this story, nothing in our current knowledge of human history did early humans have structures dating 476,000 years ago. Either they dated it improperly are they are incredibly misguided on what this finding is.
