Hah I remember that. The female looked like an adult mom to the two boys in the picture to me. One male looked young but still looked like a college aged adult but Im convinced that one male was honestly a kid.

Ehhh I think whether it's a "good look" and "appeal to emotion" depend a lot on the role/responsibility of the person being discussed and context. As a society we have different standards/expectations of say a police officer from a groundskeeper from a insurance salesperson in terms of how much they feel emotions in a professional setting.

Right? Isn't that what at least some of the training should be? How to quell your fear in the moment and not let it think killing unarmed people is a wise decision? If you can't do that, you shouldn't be an officer.

It's bad writing in a series where fictional elements are used as blatant parallels for real life racism. But as I said, I think it was mostly bad writing and not thinking about it than wanting people to read it as racism being justified.

I started to get my stuff under control a few years ago because I knew I was in a bad spot. Paid off credit cards and started to handle other debt then things just happened one after another

Car payment, major dental work, hospital bills, etc. and I made it all worse by coping with the stress by spending money I didn't have just to have something I can enjoy. Took out a loan to consolidate all my debts into one place and was working hard at paying it all off. I'm about 1/4 of the way through paying it off

But I still find myself leaning into excessive spending as a coping mechanism that I just can't break. I've brought it up with my therapist, but the last time I spoke to her about it was right before she ended up having a bunch of medical issues and stopped being available at the clinic I went to (where they only keep one on hand)

Love trying to cope with depression by making my life worse and more unrecoverable, but I almost am blind to it in the moment as its happening...

This is pretty much me as well minus the therapy.

I should at least get a Brita or something

The situation youre describing isnt a fight, its a person being victimized. I do believe security (or rather crowd control) can intervene if they wish but the point is theyre not obligated to. And never do so without backup.

Security doesnt have the legal power or weaponry at a cops disposal. Half the time they dont get involved in things because they can get crucified for it.

The point is theyre not expected to risk their lives. Police are at least supposed to.

Then what the fuck is your job? Observe and report is something a security camera does.

I know that feel.
