Guess spells that stop time to animate are still a thing after all, though I'm liking Energy Arrow being a multi-hit that doesn't stop time anymore. Maybe just a few of the big spells have the fancy long animations now instead of basically everything you get past level 10 or so

Because it's a well known event that can't be proven in conversation without just citing other sources, so people can always just say you're lying or mistaken and then feel like they're smarter than you for "knowing the truth"

...she's one of the top executive of Shinra Corp, though
That's like the equivalent position of Four Fiends of other FF games.

Like, you know, how Rubicante was Fiend of Fire, Palmer was the Executive of Space Program, etc etc.

Of course she's going to be strong and a match for a player character.

Palmer is a joke, he has a lot of health basically just to let you see that he sucks. The Shinra execs are presented as being pretty wimpy overall, the Turks are their enforcers and do the fighting for them so they don't have to.

Ys is great, I've played 6, 7, 8, 9, Origins and the two remakes (Oath in Felghana and Memories of Celceta). 6 is the only one I'm not too fond of, the rest are all at least really good and 8 is one of my favourite games ever

It doesn't affect my opinion of the person regardless. I do think it's tacky though if you do skimpy cosplay for a character whose actual look isn't like that since it isn't exactly a great representation of the character to dress as them by not dressing anything like them.

TopicIf Chris Benoit didn't kill his family he would be a footnote in Wrestling.

A lot of people would probably like him despite hating other people who are nowhere near as awful as him. Benoit had already been abusive to his wife for years at the time of the murder, it's not like he would have just stopped. There's probably never a scenario where we don't have some sort of Benoit Incident, even if it didn't prove to be fatal for anyone. He'd just end up being an example of how much wrestling fans have very selective morality, if you're not a good worker being a bad person is awful but if you are one you can be as shitty as you want and it's all cool.

His big career highlight of winning the world title at Wrestlemania would also feel a lot less dramatic in hindsight after seeing Daniel Bryan Danielson and Kofi Kingston both have "underdog/unexpected champion" stories that were a lot more compelling than his.

Flavor should be all the participants but then randomized and reassigned to everyone playing, imo.

This seems like a bad idea, GameFAQs has occasionally gone through phases of being really wacky with its rules about impersonating other users and it would suck for a player to get banned for claiming who they are when who they actually are isn't who they really are

Given what Cell is able to survive later on I'm pretty sure that attack wouldn't have really bothered him much even if it did hit his head. And ultimately it's not much of a win to say you might have maybe been able to kill your enemy if and only if he not only let you charge up for five minutes, but also stood perfectly still to make it as easy on you as possible.

Had to take a brief break because my controller died but now I've finished the game. Final area was nowhere near as good as Hyrule Castle in Breath of the Wild but the final boss was great, aside from the dragon form being kind of lame, looked cool but was awkward to actually play. Basically Dark Beast Ganon with better aesthetics but worse gameplay. Ganondorf in all his humanish phases were super cool though, definitely better than Calamity Ganon was and I liked Calamity Ganon to begin with.

No, EA made 3 not have a satisfying ending. A bunch of writers since then have said it's pretty much the fault of EA and Casey Hudson because what they had planned originally was much better.

The problem is ME3 comes out and tells you the ending is going to suck a few hours in, and the way 2 went doesn't really lend itself to much else. Writers can brag about how perfect they are all they want but it doesn't change that the problems were clearly there from the instant ME was released. And ME3's ending really does not feel like an EA mandate at all, the whole "no final boss, work with the villains because they're saving the galaxy, magic space waves wipe out galactic travel and seemingly end civilization but who knows" nonsense is like the polar opposite of the super safe, generic approach you'd expect from EA.

The problem is that - on its own - Mass Effect 2 is a fantastic game. It might be my favorite of the three. The gameplay is solid. The story is fun. The companions are interesting and well-acted.

But it absolutely hurt the series as a whole.

This is my take, ME2 is the best overall (I'm not a fan of the story though because I think Cerberus is awful) but it being essentially a giant side quest instead of setting up a clear path for 3 to follow basically locked 3 into not being able to have a satisfying ending

Yeah every time I was going up it would hit me with a thunder bolt

eventually just loaded a ton of homing at him

King Gleeok's thunder ice storm lasts forever but he eventually stops attacking for a while and leaves the ice in position to climb and rewind, so you can deal with him "conventionally" by just avoiding the ice/lightning until he stops summoning it. Though in practice spamming arrows into his eyes before he can get up high is the easiest thing to do.

For me it was the opposite. I put together some nice things that in my head would work perfectly, I got on top, started the damn thing, and it flew off into the sky without me.
It reminded me of the classic joke where you call a cab, tell them to "follow that car" and they drive off without you.
I burst out laughing from that.

I had something like this except it sort of worked initially. Put the wing glider on a cart with wheels and used a fan to get it started, it flew for a bit but then nose dived into a cliff, so I bailed but it then managed to lift off again and went sailing off merrily into the distance, never to be seen again.
